Morning!
I’m TIRED this morning! Thank goodness for extra strong french press coffee and SuperFood—a match made in heaven. π I was originally going to go to the gym before work but….yeah….I’m still here on the floor wrapped up in a quilt near my heater. I’m going to pack my gym clothes and hopefully make it after work. We’ll see. I’m a slacker, I know.
Breakfast was overnight oats—
- 1/2 cup oats soaked in 1/2 cup 1% milk
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1 banana
- naturally more pb
- maple syrup
It was a little chilly for cold oatmeal but….tasty nevertheless.
To the winery I go!

November 11, 2009 at 9:03 amDon’t you just love Naturally More PB? Don’t feel bad about bailing on the morning gym sesh, I did the same thing today. Seems to be in the air from coast to coast.

November 11, 2009 at 9:13 amTaking an off-day from the gym is nothing to be ashamed of. Trust me, over-doing it and then paying for it with an injury is a million times worse than “missing a workout”. I know from experience. Besides, you could always take a walk break at lunch time and exercise outside too! Don’t sweat it; no pun intended. Hahah.
Have a great day at the winery!

November 11, 2009 at 9:21 amI haven’t had cold oats in a while… Your’s look great π

November 11, 2009 at 9:24 amThose oats sound great. I don’t do overnight oats because I think if I did I’d be anticipating them too much to sleep

November 11, 2009 at 9:31 amIt’s so hard to get motivated to work out in the winter. That’s why I usually go at lunch!
Erin
November 11, 2009 at 9:36 amMmm I love overnight oats, even when hot oats would be better on a cold morning. Usually I pop them into the microwave for 30 seconds just to warm it up a bit.
Vanessa (Last Night's Leftovers)
November 11, 2009 at 9:46 amI’ve never tried overnight oats! I’ll get to it one of these days…:)

November 11, 2009 at 9:54 amI took the day off from the gym yesterday and I feel so much better today after I did. I had much more energy for this morning’s workout!

November 11, 2009 at 10:21 amI’m really tired today, too. For me, I think it is the miserable weather we are having.
Hope you have a nice day!

November 11, 2009 at 10:32 amI was just thinking about how tired I am. I need to grab some coffee ASAP. I went to bed at 9:30 on Monday, which was amazing, but it’s clearly not carrying me through the rest of the week!
No worries on missing the gym this morning. It happens to all of us! π

November 11, 2009 at 10:34 amI did the same thing about the gym this morning. But thankfully it’s nice outside so I got out at lunchtime for a nice walk. I think that makes up for it π

November 11, 2009 at 10:39 amHave a fab day, Jenna. Congrats on the book deal – how wonderfully exciting!
I entered the Oikos content (http://domesticaffections.wordpress.com/2009/11/02/na-moo-ste/). The yoga-toga photo shoot was the best part! I LOVE Kripalu, and it’d be amazing to have a chance to visit (all expenses paid). Thanks for sharing the sweepstakes!

What are your thoughts on adding protein powder to oats and cereal ? I have been testing off dairy for a trial time (not for long though) and usually have some very vegetarian-carbohydrate-heavy meals. What are your thoughts on making one meal much more protein-based by adding protein powder to the mix ?

November 11, 2009 at 11:24 amI have been making the overnight oats and popping them in the microwave to warm them up and melt the almond butter! And I use some Agave to sweeten it up a bit! It makes it so easy to have a good quick breakfast!

November 11, 2009 at 6:37 pmRe: Retreat
1. I need to relax and say “Ohm,” because the 18 rambunctious boys and 4 active girls that fill my classroom with multi-faceted fun and challenges as a first grade teacher remind me of this each day! We even do a little yoga (informally, of course – we call it a ‘shake break’) in the afternoons to get ‘extra wiggles’ out…
I am also balancing teaching with grad school courses, and have found that yoga has become a daily habit, whether it be 10 minutes or 80! The retreat would be a welcome reprieve from the job that I simultaneously love, and that simultaneously pushes me beyond my limits…I would love the opportunity to reflect, recharge, and refocus!

November 11, 2009 at 8:13 pmJenna,
I have to say that I really respect your attitude toward working out. I have followed your blog for over a year now and just love how you see it in such a moderate light and how it changes as you move through different phases in your life. You have gone through periods of time when you have been super in to exercise and have trained for races and exercised almost every single day no matter what. Now you are going through a time where it isn’t as big of a part of your life. Although this bothers you sometimes, I think it is really cool that you keep a great attitude about it and just do your best, considering your injury (and past injuries) and the current state of your lifestyle.
I admire that and strive to keep a good attitude like that as well. I am traveling a ton for work right now and am finding it difficult sometimes to get in as much exercise as I would like. I think of you sometimes! It is great to read about all of this on your blog π

November 12, 2009 at 9:05 amThanks for the great contest….do you have to have your own blog to enter though??
I don’t have a blog, but I love to read others! In case I can still enter the contest, here is my Fall favorite: mix a single serve plain Oikos yogurt cup with pure pumpkin, cinnamon, pumpkin granola and a bit of maple syrup. Mmmm – so good!
