Go to Africa with Mocha Club

Last August, I had the unique and amazing opportunity to travel to Ethiopia with Mocha Club to visit the Live FashionABLE headquarters and Women at Risk. In case you’re new here and unaware, Women at Risk is an NGO in Nazaret, Ethiopia that works to rehabilitate women who were forced into a life of prostitution as an attempt to escape their situation of poverty. The “Women At Risk” program provides spiritual, emotional, and psychological counseling and helps them find alternate means of income to support themselves and their children. After completing the program, the women then can choose to work at fashionABLE.

Sidenote: If you have signed up under my referral for Stitchfix, you’re helping these women! My referral money goes straight to Women at Risk through Mocha Club and I’m proud to say that over the past few months we’ve donated almost $3,000 their way – that’s enough money for seven women to get off the streets and complete the program for the entire year so THANK YOU! Our family also personally gives financially every month to Mocha Club so it’s safe to say I am very invested in them and love what they are doing!

I’m not lying when I say that not a day goes by that I don’t think of my trip. It’s safe to say that it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Today, I am excited to share that you, too, could go to Africa with Mocha Club! Here are the deets.

My friend, Annie Downs, is working to raise $10,000 to help rebuild a school in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. You can read all about the project here and also watch the short video she made that gives more details.

By giving just $25 towards Annie’s fundraising goal, you will be in the running to go with Annie {a bunch of other really cool bloggers!} to Kenya in May to visit the New Dawn School…for free {well…for $25 but practically free}.

That’s a big trip. I am super jealous! Even if you know you can’t travel across the world this Spring but still want to help out, you can definitely still give. If we can just get a few hundred of us to give $25 (a lunch out…I mean, come on), the goal will be met.

Here’s where you go to donate. I’m a huge believer in using the Internet for the power of GOOD and together, we can help these kids get the education they deserve.

Thanks, guys!
