Morning!
Yay for Humpday and yay for tomorrow being my BIRTHDAY! Just so everyone knows, I will happily accept Team in Training donations for my birthday. Haha Just kidding. Well sort of. I still have to raise a little over $1,000 this summer! Eeek!
This morning after hearing Ryan’s rave reviews last night, I decided to make a “super” green monster for breakfast using this product that I admittedly had not opened yet from Amazing Grass.

Amazing Meal combines all the awesomeness of Amazing Grass powder with hemp and rice protein to give you a little more bang for your buck. I still am a whimp when it comes to this stuff and I’d much rather put Amazing Grass in a smoothie than drink it plain with water. So, this morning I combined:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 scoop Amazing Meal
- 1 scoop raw almond butter
- 4 cups spinach
- 1 cup almond milk

The verdict?

Really, really good! I honestly couldn’t tell the Amazing Meal was even in there. It tasted just like normal. Ryan even begged for a sip; he’s sad because he has a business breakfast this morning and can’t have his usual.
However, I casually asked him if he would care for a shot of wheatgrass before work. Then I used reverse psychology and said, “nevermind…it really doesn’t taste good…most people can’t drink it straight up….” Of course then he leaped at it and said he would show me!
I mixed 1 scoop with about 8 ounces cold water and slid him the glass.

He looked pretty confident but then…………

I think the limit was pushed.
I think we should stick to hiding his greens in smoothies although I give him credit because I’m not about to drink this stuff straight up anytime soon. Its amazing for you, yes, but definitely not for the faint of heart (like me)!

June 10, 2009 at 8:14 amI love the pic of Ryan, it made me hysterical. I love amazing meal original. I have actually started a month long experiment on myself. I am going to have a green smoothie with amazing grass product and spinich or other green and see if or any changes happen. I am going to document it on my blog, so hopefully I don’t turn green.

June 10, 2009 at 8:20 amHAHAHAHHA! That is toooo cute! Nothing like a little challenge to get the boy to try something new. Yep, wheatgrass is pretty green. But green smoothies are a great start!
Have a fabulous day Jenna! Your last day as 23!

It’s almost birthday time for you! Can’t wait to see what you have on the itinerary for it. It is my boyfriend and I’s anniversary tomorrow so it is an all around WONDERFUL day. [:

June 10, 2009 at 9:08 amAww poor guy!! I think I made that face the first time I had the grass clippings….oh I mean the amazing grass. :Þ It’s not bad though mixed with juice. I guess I haven’t wanted to ruin a smoothie so I haven’t tried it yet! Tomorrow I’ll do it!! (Plus I’m out of spinach, so I have no choice) 🙂 Hope you have a great birthday-eve!!!!!

June 10, 2009 at 9:33 amhaha. Too funny. I had another GM this morning too…oh and when you say 4 cups of spinach, how are you measuring that? Just curious!
jenna
June 10, 2009 at 10:51 amKati,
I’m not really measuring…I’m just eyeballing and using a super big handful! I don’t even actually stick the spinach in a measuring cup.
Fitzalan,
Well, one day he had a sip of my smoothie and loved it because he couldn’t taste the spinach! The rest is history. He was very hesitant at first but then kept going back for more to prove his manly macho-ness. lol!
Acadia,
I’ve never heard of that!! Sounds like something I would love though!

June 10, 2009 at 9:47 amThat face is priceless! You really are an example for girlfriends and wives every where to try to get their partners to drink green stuff!
Oh, I’ve been away five days and last night was catching up on your blog before bed, and I guess you were on mind because I dreamed about you…that you and Ryan got engaged! He gave you a ring with a ruby in it, though, not a diamond, weird!

June 10, 2009 at 10:00 amHi Jenna,
I know you love sweet potatoes, but have you heard of Micro-Yams? These had me laughing so hard in the produce section that I decided to devote an entire post to Entirely Useless Items available for purchase at your neighborhood grocery store: http://acadiadurham.blogspot.com. I mean, because who doesn’t need a shrink-wrapped sweet ‘tater or a lemon-shaped food storage container, right?
Happy Birthday Eve Day!

June 10, 2009 at 10:41 amryan, i agree with you. the amazing grass REALLY tastes like grass 🙂 i wanted so bad to like the flavor, because of it’s extreme health benefits, but it tasted like liquid weeds. lol.
Kailey (SnackFace)
June 10, 2009 at 10:41 amBAHAHA! I hope that’s a true action shot! I don’t think I could handle that, either. That smoothie, though, makes me rrreeeeally wish I had a blender!

June 10, 2009 at 10:50 amThanks for the laugh. Ryan’s face is hilarious. He’s a good guy to try all of these new (to him) foods.
Sarah
June 10, 2009 at 11:13 amThat is the best face ever, haha!
Yes, best keep hiding it in smoothies 😉
Danielle W.
June 10, 2009 at 11:14 amI definitely need to try the amazing grass, but I’m not sure if you can buy it where I live. However, wheat grass shots aren’t that bad if you take it with a slice of orange. When I’ve had them you drink it like a tequila shot. Drink the shot and then suck the orange slice.

June 10, 2009 at 11:14 amHey Jenna, I used to use Kale and have since tried spinach in my green monster and I love it, are they equally nutritious?

Jenna, have you tried Cafe Hey? You might want to check it out!
It is in a little building across from the ramp going up to 275, at Kay and Tampa, north of downtown. Google it, I’d love to know what you think.
Happy Birthday in advance.

June 10, 2009 at 12:08 pmHey Jenna! I’d like to try and replicate your GM, when you say a scoop of ab, do you mean a tablespoon or more?
jenna
June 10, 2009 at 12:19 pmAshley,
I never dirty measuring spoons…I honestly don’t know an exact measurement of what I use. I’m sure it is around a tbsp though!
Erica
June 10, 2009 at 12:31 pmPriceless pic, and thanks for the heads up on the wheatgrass straight up no, no. 🙂
Sarah
June 10, 2009 at 12:33 pmhaha! that picture is hilarious! The only amazing grass stuff that my tummy can handle is the wheat grass (the rest of their products insanely upset my stomach!). I usually hide it in some juice or a smoothie though- I’m definitely not brave enough to drink it straight! More power to anyone that can though!!!
Heather @ Health, Happiness, and Hope
June 10, 2009 at 1:29 pmHAHA! Ryan is too cute! Well, at least you got him with the green smoothies! 😉
