Good morning!!
I am having a BLAST up here in Boston-town! I really really love this city! Yesterday we walked exactly 6 miles (so says Kath’s iphone) and along the way we did tons of exploring!

It was chilly! I couldn’t believe I was wearing a sweater and jeans in August. How awesome!
At 4:00 we met a bunch of awesome readers at none other than the famous JP Licks for a little ice cream break!

And I had a date! 🙂

Isn’t this the cutest child you have ever seen??!! I think I might have creeped Sammie out because I loved her son so much. Declan, you rock!

Speaking of rocking, my mint oreo frozen yogurt certainly did just that. This was a small but was the size of my head!

We all agreed it was the BEST frozen yogurt that we had EVER had. So creamy and delicious! There’s definitely a plan to go back for more on Sunday….
After our little ice cream social, Tina, Kath and I huddled on a park bench and had a conference call with none other than Bob Greene of “The Best Life Diet”! How crazy is that?! Bob is Oprah’s nutritionist and we were secretly hoping she was going to get on the phone. She did not. Sigh. It was still interesting though!

LOVE all the breathtaking architecture here!

So we showered and blogged and then look who I finally ran into!!!!!!!!!!!

Our other halves!!! Caitlin, Meghann and Meghann’s sis, Kelly, finally arrived after a delayed flight! Caitlin brought us each antique spoons. Love this girl.

And I split a glass of Pinot Grigio with Kath at The Rustic Kitchen….where our “super exclusive cocktail party” will be tonight. No details yet but, guys, this place is AWESOME. The atmosphere was the best…we are going to have a great time!

After we all were reunited as one (love these girls), we walked the mile to our awesome dinner location:

The wonderful owners of Petit Robert Bistro treated the seven of us to a wonderful, wonderful French dinner! The theme of the evening (of course) was healthy and we got awesome vegetarian dishes that the chef created especially for us! The girls put me in charge of ordering all the wine….

(add one more bottle of the MacMurray Ranch on there as well…….)
Great fun!

And AWESOME french bread! 🙂

I chose the “Vegetable Pate” as my appetizer because it sounded so interesting. We also got two huge bowls of mussels brought to the table, which I devoured. Mussels are, strangely, one of my favorite foods but I rarely find other people that like them!

There are few finer things in life than smooshing hot french bread in delicious garlic mussel broth. SO SO SO good!
As for my entree, I opted for “White Beans in Pistou”, which totally blew me away.

This beat any expectation I had (I was worried it wouldn’t fill me up!)…..it was basically like a big, hot potato pancake (but made with white beans) surrounded by a traditional French pistou sauce. The “croquette” as I shall call it was seasoned absolutely perfectly, which totally made the dish.

Dessert was a trio of sorbets with fresh fruit. I was quite stuffed and only had a few bites but it, of course, was delicious!

Caitlin, Tina, Kath and I were lazy bums and hailed a cab home while the other girls walked. I finally made it to bed a little after midnight and this morning woke up at 5:50! Bah??! I have no idea why but strangely I have a lot of energy. Perhaps because yesterday before dinner I chugged this lovely Amazing Grass concoction?

And I’m about to have another!!!!! I SWEAR this stuff is a life saver for traveling….it kept me going when I was running on literally NO sleep while in California last month. I always feel great and have learned to almost enjoy the lovely swamp taste 😉
I’m headed downstairs now to meet all the girls and head over to Healthworks for a little workout, Summit-style. Tina was awesome enough to score us sweet passes to the gym all weekend…thanks Tina! After that we are coming back, showering and going to breakfast then meeting with the event planner for tomorrow’s festivities. Crazy, crazy stuff and I feel so blessed to be here!
I’m off!!! I hope everyone has a lovely Friday and I can’t wait to meet 110 of you this evening at our cocktail party!!! Hopefully I can get a nap in before then….or just chug more Amazing Grass!

August 14, 2009 at 1:54 pmI LOVE mussels! I feel like sometimes people are just scared of them, but once they try them, it’s like their mind is totally blown!
I order them in restaurants all the time, but I also enjoy making them with home, mariniere-style!

September 25, 2010 at 9:14 amI know this post is way old… just happened upon it. I just wanted to mention that I am from that area and got married there exactly a week after this post… and it was high 80s, low 90s. We’d had a freakish summer – cold and rainy for literally MONTHS… but it turned around right after you left! We were relieved about no rain for the wedding!
