Dessert/ Dinner

Oh! The Rolls!

Hi everyone!

Whew, 6 hours later and I’m just now getting home from orientation! It was good though—I learned a ton about the company and am really excited to be a part of it all. I also got a yummy 6 inch publix sub (on whole wheat—they ran out of white! Sweet!) for dinner that had turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato and mustard on it. We didn’t eat til about 7:45 and I was famished!

I didn’t eat any chips with my sandwich and instead had a brown rice crispie bar that I found in my purse for “dessert”—yall know I have to end my meals with something sweet! Tomorrow night I will come more prepared. Now that I’m home I’m sipping on tea and just ate two squares of my chocolate bar before I call it a night. 😉

But Oh! the rolls!

Turned out a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Seriously, better than I ever could have anticipated. Perfect proportion of salt this time and tons of walnuts throughout. I bagged up a few for my mom to take to work tonight:

And I split a hot one and smeared it with hazelnut butter and preserves for a snack around 3 before I left for orientation—

Heaven.

Its a bubble bath and bed for me. I’ve done nothing but sit for the past 6 hours but I’m EXHAUSTED for some reason from it. So much information….I feel like I’m back in school!

I don’t blame you for being exhausted – learning about a new company and taking on a new job are times of transition and they can tire you out! You’ve had alot of that this year!

      Angela,

Well a KitchenAid with a dough hook attachment certainly helps! 😉 But you can totally use your hands, which is what I’ve been doing to knead the dough for years. Don’t add too much flour, even though dough might be sticky. Just dust the flour on your workspace. And use a scale not measuring cups!! Its worth it to you to be one for $40 from Williams Sonoma if you are serious about getting into bread baking.

Jenna! Those rolls turned out awesome. Look at those walnut chunks. Yay – go glad as I know you were disappointed in that last batch of bread. Have a happy Wednesday.

    Jenna,
wow…I NEED the recipe for those rolls. What a pretty color! I’m planning on doing a bread post soon, but today I bought a big glass jar of yeast and the bag broke and the yeast fell all over the supermarket floor! So Sad! I’ll have to go back another time and get some more….

Jenna, how is hazelnut butter? You’ve obviously had pb and ab – how does it compare? Hazelnuts are probably my favorite nut so I’m intrigued… 🙂
