Baby

Our Nursery

nursery-0055-2

I am definitely one of those crazy people who has had the nursery pretty much done for the past three months.

When we moved into our new house in December, one of the most exciting things was having the perfect extra small room to make the nursery in! We absolutely could have made it work in our old place, but it was so nice to have a little more space. We decided to do somewhat of a “woodland creature” theme for the nursery and I’m really happy with how it turned out! I didn’t want anything overly cutesy, loud or extremely bright. Despite the fact we’re having a boy, I learned towards more gender neutral colors than anything because, heck, what if the techs were wrong and he is actually a she?!

nursery-0039

We got both the dresser/changing table and the crib from Pottery Barn Kids. They are part of the Kendall line. Adam and I constantly joke how the baby has much nicer furniture than we have! I love the little shelf above the changing station! We’re cloth diapering baby beaugh but plan to use disposables for the first few days. I stacked some adorable Honest diapers there so they’d be ready and waiting for those first few changes!

The dresser drawers are stuffed with all his little clothes {0-6 month onesies and jammies}, newborn cloth dipes, burp clothes, bibs and socks! Ahhhhhh little striped baby socks…I die.

Book wagon stocked with plenty of reading material! Wagon is from Restoration Hardware Baby.

Baby will sleep in a bassinet in our room for the first month or so then move into his crib. I got those woodland animal prints from Etsy and frames from Michaels. That baby blanket is one of my very favorite things! We actually found it at our farmer’s market!

nursery-0046

How adorable is this mobile?! Another great Etsy find! Looks like the shop owner is unavailable right now but will be returning later next month. I LOVE this mobile and highly recommend her store! So, so, so cute.

nursery-0050

We got our glider from Target and I just love it. I wasn’t going to splurge on a glider but my mom talked me into it and I’m so glad I did. Even now, I spend hours in that thing. It’s become my pregnancy nest and I love to curl up in it with a blanket, a pile of books, hot tea and my ipad. The pouf is also from Etsy. How sweet is that baby beaugh banner? My friends who hosted my baby shower made it! I knew the moment I saw it that it would be perfect in the nursery. I just love it.

Floor rug – Land of Nod

Record player – Urban Outfitters

White stool – IKEA. We bought it, stripped it down and refinished it. I love the way it turned out.

Floor lamp – Land of Nod

Wall clock – local store in West Virginia {a gift from my parents}

Wow I love your nursery it’s just beautiful! I’m so jealous, I’m 31 weeks now and our nursery is still an office… I just can’t get daddy to feel too concerned about it and I can’t do it all by myself, so I’ll just have to wait, but I would so love to prepare that little nest! What a cute nursery! I love that you kept it relatively neutral. I do know someone who was told they were having a girl, only to find out at birth it was a boy, so it still happens in this day and age!
I agree on splurging on the glider. You’ll probably be spending a lot of time there!

Crazy. Our babies match. I got baby girl the kendell crib (in white) and a book basket on the floor (this one: http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/gray-round-woven-nursery-storage/?pkey=e|woven%2Bstorrage|7|best|0|1|24||1&cm_src=PRODUCTSEARCH||NoFacet-_-NoFacet-_-NoMerchRules)
and I bought the honest brand newborns for the meconium days (we ended up hating the fit and the lack of newborn poop-catching gussets) before switching into her GM prefolds and then BumGenius. I guess it must be the popular thing to do these days. You probably also have the Aden and Anais swaddle blankets and an Ergo. : ) I love our burpy bibs (http://www.amazon.com/aden-anais-Muslin-Burpy-Jungle/dp/B002SW3CAS). Maybe in a couple years, our babies can give each other high-fives in his and her’s baby gap and mini boden.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!! How exciting!! I am really so happy for you and Adam. I used to read your blog back when you were in culinary school. I remember writing you an email about your culinary school experiences and you so kindly answered my questions. I ended up getting my master’s in something completely unrelated to food, but I loved reading about your cooking adventures and your life. Just tonight, many years later, out of the blue your blog popped into my head. I checked to see if you were still around, and I was so happy to see that you indeed are, and that you’re doing so well! I am getting married in four weeks and was talking with a friend today about pregnancy and what it’s like since I know that’s right around the corner. I am really excited to be following you again and will love hearing all about your experiences of motherhood. Anyway, congratulations again! I wish you and Adam all the best!!
