Some books I couldn't live without

I’m a reader….a HUGE reader! I love books and if my day includes a trip to barnes and noble and the grocery store, it’s been a good day 🙂 Here’s a list of books I love:

Eat, Drink, Be Healthy by Harvard Medicine. This book is phenomenal and helped me come to realize that the USDA’s food pyramid is NOT for everybody! Everyone has specific needs and body types and this book goes into detail about what we really need to nurture our bodies. It also includes some really great recipes, my favorite being the oatmeal cookie recipe. SO good!

Fit from Within. Another great book that I think every woman should read.

Simple Food by Alice Waters. I love Alice and her whole concept on whole, natural foods. This cookbook features great recipes that highlight fresh fruit and veggies. A really beautiful book as well.

Alice Waters and Chez Panisse. How the legend got started, and all the juicy drama behind it all! I couldn’t put this book down.

My Life in France by Julia Child. This was so good! I loved reading about Julia’s adventures in France and reading about her love story with Paul. Another book I couldn’t put down.

Yogi in the Kitchen. This is one of my all time favorite cookbooks. All the recipes I’ve tried from this vegetarian cookbook have been so yummy and very easy to prepare. I highly recommend the spicy tofu stir fry and the chocolate chip sorbet! 🙂

On the non culinary side, I love historical fiction and am currently reading Annette Vallon by James Tipton. Its a novel about the French Revolution. Really good so far. If anyone has any recommendations on great books they have just read, let me know! I’m always looking for something new to read.

SuperNatural Cooking by Heidi Swanson. One of my favorites—gorgeous photography and deliciously different and unique vegetarian recipes.

The Food Lover’s Guide to Paris by Patricia Wells. Well other people in my program in France brought literary guidebooks I brought THIS. I carried this huge 500 book with me wherever I went and do not regret it! Its filled with reviews of every cafe, restaurant and bistro in Paris as well as where to go for farmer’s markets and cooking supplies. Oh, and it has recipes in it too!! I love, love, love this book and can’t wait to go back to France and carry it with me again!
