Well, there was no workout for me this Tuesday morning!! I didn’t leave school last night until 12:30!!!!!!!!!! By the time I fell asleep, I’m sure it was close to 2 a.m. So….I chose sleeping an extra half an hour over working out because I knew that if I were to wake up at 7 and do the upper body workout I had planned, I would feel not-so-hot for the rest of the day. I’m already a zombie 🙁 My new class is fun and should be very interesting, but I really really hope we don’t get out late like this all the time. My chef instructor did say that this class was one of the latest. I’m ready to graduate already!!!!!
Last night, after an hour of lecture and demo, we made 4 genoise cakes—2 plain and 2 chocolate. We also made swiss buttercream frosting (USING 5 POUNDS OF BUTTER, PEOPLE!) and regular ol’ buttercream frosting. We didn’t decorate or finish anything off though because that’s what we are doing tonight. So hopefully, it won’t be another 12:30 night.
This morning I dragged myself out of bed to make a bowl of oatmeal. I used a banana, soy milk and almond butter and for some reason this morning it was super super filling. I *almost* couldn’t finish it (yeah right, I finish everything but it was close). Maybe I used more almond butter than usual? My appetite has been so odd the last few days. Last night in school I was STARVING. Seriously starving. So starving that I ate my cookie half an hour earlier than I usually do and therefore was hungry again for the rest of the night. I wanted to make toast or something when I got home but I resisted because at 12:45 all I wanted to do was get in my pjs and get into bed.
I had no strength to be cool and creative with my lunch today (that, and I’m lacking on food in the house) so I just packed some microwavable chili, a pear and for a snack later, some popcorn (half the bag=1 serving size) and some apple slices.
I leave you with a picture of Dex, trying to bat the blinds.
Hopefully I will gain some energy throughout the day!!

Ouch… 12:30?? That’s not fun at all. I hope your energy goes up today! I’m sure as you nourish yourself and rest you will feel better. =)

Its weird! maybe its the weather changing because up here in Maine its finally becoming nice out and my appetite and hunger is way off
Get some sleep girl!!
I skipped work this morning at 5 to sleep in..I needed it bad!
KathApril 29, 2008 at 1:37 pm
I was starving yesterday too!! In a very weird way. I think we all share vibes 🙂
CaraApril 29, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Wow I hope you do get more energy. You sure have long days! Geesh.
Alice (in Veganland)April 29, 2008 at 2:04 pm
I hate weird days when I’m starving and I shouldn’t! And it’s better to be awake than not, even if you have to skip one work out…
Ashley HApril 29, 2008 at 2:52 pm
I had a weird hunger yesterday too. I was so full after dinner and then randomly hungry again two hours later when I was majorly craving chocolate- girly time (and it all makes so much more sense!)

Ditto on the tired Tuesday! I had trouble getting moving today too! Cute kitty! 🙂
VeggieGirlApril 29, 2008 at 2:55 pm
Ahh, so sorry that you had yet another late night :0( But at least your class sounds fun!
Haha, I finish everything too ;0) Especially hearty bowls of oatmeal!!
Good luck today!! Try to gain some energy for tonight’s class!
Love the photograph of Dexter :0)

Today is my hungry day, I must be delayed. 🙂 Five pounds of butter?!?! That just gives me a stomach ache thinking about it!!
arimcgApril 29, 2008 at 3:48 pm
I’m tired today too…but I have no excuse, and I actually always feel better if I get up and go to the gym. However, on five hours of sleep, I would have stayed in bed too!!

I used to like reading your blog but I still can’t get used to pictures of your black cat. They just freak me out.
Becca AApril 29, 2008 at 5:39 pm
I can’t wait to see the pics from this class, but I do hope its not usually late nights like that for you.
Oh and personally I love seeing pictures of Dex, black cats rock!

I tried PB Puffins for the first time…and i am OBSESSED!! Why didn’t anybody say they taste like Capn Crunch??? (My favorite cereal that my parents never let me have when I was little). YUMMY!!!
AnaApril 29, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Puffins makes the best cereal ^_^ I must be missing the hunger/sleep problems cus I feel really rested for some reason! Had a GREAT monday and got a lot of things done^_^ and even got to sleep early, reading my new National Geographic in bed with some cocoa. Hope everyone else has an awesome day! The sun is out, and I’m debating on going for a neighborhood jogg!!^_^

Just had to second that I love seeing pictures of your cat, regardless of his color. Also, as a former shelter employee I think it’s great you adopted a black cat because just like black dogs they’re often overlooked. Hopefully seeing how adorable Dexter is will encourage others to check out the black animals next time they adopt.

Eliza…Where in Maine are you? I am in Saco.
jennApril 29, 2008 at 7:22 pm
I posted this on Kath’s blog also, but does anyone have a *chocolate* recipe (cookie, brownie, muffin?) that is reasonably healthy, and preferably made without butter? Vegan is fine (esp because I know for a fact that at least one person in the class is vegan) and I have non-dairy vegan dark choc chips on hand… I have to bring something in to a chocolate lecture tomorrow, and I think a muffin-type treat would be ideal because it’s at 9am! Jenna, I think you baked mini-muffins a week or so ago, but I don’t think you posted the recipe or which cookbook it was from…? Thanks in advance everyone! 🙂

I just wanted to say the pictures of Dexter are adorable. My sweetest pet ever, Midnight, was a black cat and there is nothing freaky about black cats, except maybe how freaking cute they are!
jennaApril 29, 2008 at 9:27 pm
I LOVE black cats! I grew up with 2 of them, sami and dash! Its so sad that some people discriminate against them because of their color….
ClaraApril 29, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Anon always has some annoying criticism to say on this blog or Kath’s. 😛 lol
ClaraApril 29, 2008 at 11:21 pm
And jenna – I love black cats as well! actually make that all cats; my dream is to become one of those crazy ladies with 20 cats that lives alone and all the kids in the neighborhood are afraid of. ahh just kidding, but seriously, cats rule and I am so happy you got one and pleeasssse keep the pics of him coming 🙂
ANONApril 30, 2008 at 7:50 pm
clara …pls go get a life onstead of playing with stupid cats.
