What do we do at a winery when it’s storming outside?!
Stage our own personal wine tasting of course! It looked like this outside:
And I actually left work early because we were pretty slow and I had a bunch of stuff I had to take care of….today has truly been a CRAZY day and even crazier, now I am holding the keys and garage door opener of my new place! I found this place through a friend and boy oh boy….is it ever small….”cozy” might be the best word. But, it has hardwood floors, a garage, a brand new gas stove and a built in bookcase in the living room. It’s very “jenna” and is only 3 or 4 blocks from downtown so I can still walk places.
I’m not sure when I’m exactly going to be staying there for the first time, that depends on when I can get Adam to move my bed in his truck, but I’m going to start putting stuff in probably later on this afternoon. It’s sort of a weird situation at my current place and I’d rather get out as soon as I can.
Anyways, my mind is going a million miles a second right now. For lunch I had a sandwich with leftover chicken, muenster cheese and dijon mustard:
Plus an apple:
Plus two figs! 🙂
Off to begin packing…..again. Someday my life won’t be a traveling circus…..

October 13, 2009 at 2:03 pmAww, sorry to hear the situation at your old place didn’t go so well … but congrats on the new place! It sounds amazing – and it must be so nice to be close to downtown. Have fun moving!

October 13, 2009 at 2:19 pmIsn’t the weather totally crazy here today? I live 2 blocks from the Bay in SF and I’m a little worried that my windows are going to be blown in! Your place sounds just like mine. Very tiny. But wood floors with the built-in-bookcase. Moving is annoying, but finally settling will be such a blessing. Good luck!

October 13, 2009 at 2:34 pmI love figs so much! I bet those are fresh figs picked the day before or something…while I eat 4 wk old figs from the grocery store in PA.

October 13, 2009 at 2:39 pmWell good for you for finding another place! You’re right, it won’t always be like this. Which is something we can probably say to ourselves for the rest of our lives, really. 🙂
Stay warm!

October 13, 2009 at 2:41 pmThe weather is the same here in L.A right now, so crazy it rarely rains in California. I’m glad I’m inside cooking. Now I just need a glass of wine…

October 13, 2009 at 2:42 pmCheers for finding a new place–once you actually settle somewhere, things will feel a bit less crazy. If they don’t, just keep drinking more wine.
It’s freezing here in Michigan, so be grateful you at least have a chance of some heat in the near future 🙂

October 13, 2009 at 2:56 pmWhat a great way to spend your time whilst it was raining 🙂 Sounds far more exciting than anything we do here during rain. Your sammy for lunch looks yummy. I’m actually so keen for a good ol’ subway sandwich right now. I don’t know why, but today I’m craving carbs like mad?!??

October 13, 2009 at 2:58 pmI haven’t been outside in awhile but I think it’s still nice in San Diego? I was planning a run and I don’t know if a rainy run will happen (because so cal makes me a total weather wimp!). I am so sad fig season is almost over because fresh figs…when they are good…are AMAZING!!

October 13, 2009 at 3:22 pmI’m glad you found a place so quick. Small is fine as long as it feels like home 🙂
How nice that you have the freedom to leave early if you are slow at work. I’m sure it makes it easier on you to not have to “find” work to do. Especially since you put in crazy hours some days.
Sarah @ The Foodie Diaries
October 13, 2009 at 3:27 pmI had an apple & fresh figs alongside my sandwich today, too! I none of these are uncommon foods haha but it always freaks me out (in a good way lol) when me and another blogger have identical meals!

October 13, 2009 at 3:29 pmah, i have fallen in love with fresh figs here. they are so good! i was staying in a villa that had a very productive fig tree and was given platters and platters of them to eat before they went bad. it was pretty rough! i may have to move to CA once i’m done.

October 13, 2009 at 5:43 pmI have SUCH a “cozy” apartment (studio, 350 square feet). At first I was afraid I would feel suffocated, but I LOVE it! Easy to clean, don’t need much to decorate, and it really is cozy with some candles and pillows. I bet you’ll love it!

October 13, 2009 at 5:45 pmWow-you found a place so quick!Yay for having friends already in your new locale and yay for getting out of no heat, weird feeling apt’s and YAY for cozy, tiny new spot.
You know we are all dying to see photos of your new nest downtown.Really glad you are central and still downtownish, perhaps now is not when you wnt to be living in suburbs or country when you’ve just arrived and all.
And a garage too?Awesome!
Is this another flat?Sounds like a lot of the apts there are flats/part of houses….?
Bravo to new friends like Adam for helping you move.
I think it’s lovely you have some people you know a bit already-I found it tough at first the times I moved where I didn’t know a soul.
Sipping tea reading and writing in a cozy HEATED apt will be sweet!

October 13, 2009 at 6:27 pmI think I would be staying there tonight…even if I had to sleep on the floor on a blanket! You will have HEAT! Glad you found something so quickly! And it will be much easier moving when the rain slows down or stops! And smaller places are easier to keep clean! And you and a new gas stove just go so well together! It sounds like it is perfect! Good luck! Can’t wait for pictures! You will be settled in no time! And baking for the holidays!

October 13, 2009 at 6:36 pmI don’t think I’ve ever actually had fresh figs before! I’ll have to remedy that.

October 13, 2009 at 6:38 pmIt rained all day here too (I live in the Monterey Bay area) and it was so windy! A tree fell down on my street, this is the craziest weather. Congrats on your new place. Built in shelves? I am very jealous.
