Behind The Butter

Virtual Coffee Date

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that my heart is still breaking after last Friday’s shootings. When I heard what happened, all I could do was cry. It’s too horrific to wrap my mind around and makes me feel scared to have kids someday. There’s so much hurt, pain and brokenness in the world —- it makes me look forward to heaven when none of that will exist anymore. Until then, I’m going to keep trusting God even when I’m hurt, confused and don’t understand. Even in the darkness, He is still there. Of that I am sure. Families of the victims, you continue to be in my deepest prayers.

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that I’m drinking a double espresso because it’s going to be a LONG night! I’m taking a red-eye to Georgia this evening and can’t wait to spend time with my family. I haven’t seen my parents since we’ve been engaged and we have lots of planning/chatting to do! I’m going wedding dress shopping on Thursday with my mom and maid of honor — I can’t wait!

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you what a wonderful trip Adam and I had last weekend when we went to Yosemite. It was purely magical. We took about four hundred photos (like usual) and I’ll be posting a trip recap with our recommendations for the area on Friday!

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you our Save the Dates just arrived and they are so cute! I think I’m going to wait to send them out until a week after Christmas so they don’t get lost in the holiday card shuffle. Seeing them sitting on my counter makes the whole thing feel start to feel very real!

If we were having coffee this morning, I’d tell you that we picked a caterer for our wedding and the menu is amazing! I’m so pumped. While we’re in Austin over New Years, we have a menu tasting lined up. Macaroni and cheese is involved. So is tequila.

If we were having a coffee date this morning, I’d tell you how flippin’ excited I am that Downton Abby finally returns January 6th!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Mr. Bates…it’s been far, far too long.

    HOW EXCITING!!!
It’s funny that you are now a big Texas convert and Adam is still a big Texas guy!! After living in SF for a year, I immediately fell heAd over heels in love with the Bay Area. I thought Austin was the greatest city ever…until I saw SF. (I went to HS and college in Austin)
Aren’t Texas guys the best though ๐Ÿ™‚ so gentlemanly

Also, I made your Linzer cookies and they were so good I have decided to make multiple batches as Christmas gifts for my boyfriend’s family. Thanks!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you guys been to Kings Canyon/Sequoia National Park? We went there last month and it was gorgeous! It’s a little farther for you guys than Yosemite but it was closer for us which is why we chose it over Yosemite this last time.

I will throw in a mention for Zion National Park in Utah. Was there this past week…an amazing KINGDOM! I hiked Angels Landing and happily lived to tell about it although I wasn’t sure I would at the outset.
I raised my kids two towns over from Newtown, CT. It is a wonderful town. Everytime I see another photo, my heart breaks open all over again. Those sweet little faces and those beautiful, honorable educators. It’s all too much.

I have a daughter in kindergarten and cannot imagine the heartache and pain. This world is becoming a very sad and dark place. I, too, long for heaven when all our tears will be wiped away.

On a much lighter note, Yay Downton Abbey!!! I can’t wait!
    Love the virtual coffee dates!

Safe travels home! Enjoy every moment of being engaged. I spent far too much of mine worrying about the details and, in retrospect, wish I’d soaked up the last few weeks and months of dating before entering the “forever” phase. The anticipation really is special!

I also love the virtual coffee dates! I’m excited for all the things happening for you right now! And Macaroni and Cheese is so fun on a tasting menu! Love it! Dress shopping with my mom wouldn’t be as fun as I think you’ll have with yours. We have different opinions of what makes a dress beautiful. So enjoy your time!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you…
…my heart is still very heavy, too.
…I’m drinking a double espresso also! My boyfriend and I got a espresso machine from his brother for Christmas. We’ve been putting it to VERY good use!
…wedding dress shopping! So fun! You’ll love it.
…I’ve always wanted to go to Yosemite! Promise you’ll post pictures soon?
…save the dates are so fun. Good thinking about sending after the holidays!
…I wouldn’t imagine the food at your wedding being anything less than spectacular ๐Ÿ™‚
…Okay, okay! I’ll start watching Downton Abby already! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enjoy all of this planning! And you will definitely enjoy the “tastings” you set up for the menu! And just keep taking deep breaths when it gets overwhelming! It will all be worth it! You are going to be a beautiful bride! I can’t wait to see what style you wind up with for your Wedding Gown!
And I am glad you are waiting until just AFTER Christmas to mail the “Save the Dates”! It makes so much more sense!
Have a wonderful time with your family for the Christmas Holiday!

I love the coffee dates and couldn’t agree more with you about the tragedy. As someone who just moved to CT in August, it has especially hit close to home. Newtown is a beautiful little community and it really makes you think that this could have happened to anyone. My heart and prayers go out to those that were affected. All I can do is trust in God and know He’ll be the light even in such darkness.

Have fun in GA! Sounds like a great trip is in the works!

I agree! My roommate and I spent our fall scouring sketchy websites and curling on the couch after each time it aired. Lots of squealing was involved. I’m about 97% sure we will be watching it again in January!

I love the virtual coffee dates! ๐Ÿ™‚ With all the funerals now happening for the precious, innocent children who lost there lives in the shooting, I can’t help but to crumble into to tears at times. It just breaks my heart.

I’m looking forward to the Yosemite recap. Now that my husband and I are living in the Bay Area, that’s a trip we’re definitely going to take. Your wedding sounds like it’s going to be amazing – I mean, you can’t go wrong with mac n’ cheese and tequila! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Safe travels & Happy Holidays!
