Is it weird that I love listening to NPR while in the kitchen? Since I don’t get the chance to listen in the car these days — my new commute is a 15-minute walk each way! — I catch up with my favorite NPR programs while cooking.
I’m going to check out these songs! Never heard of Iver. And I want to hear that Coldplay song – love them. Although I can barely listen to their whole ‘Clocks’ CD because I listened to it over and over during a break-up – such a girl.
Huge Bon Iver fan! Recently discovered them and can’t get enough. I like the Kate Nash station on Pandora. I also listen to modern tango music when cooking.
My favorite is definitely jazz. Rosemary Clooney, George Gershwin, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra… don’t care. It all makes me a blissful cook. That and wearing a cute apron. 😉
Totally several of my fav. songs on there – love Bon Iver and Tegan and Sara. And “Ohio” by Damien Juardo is such a great track… beautiful but it makes me feel all sad and melancholy
love “blindsided” and will have to check out some of these other songs 🙂

If you like “The Story” it’s by Brandi Carlile. You should also give a listen to: “What Can I Say.” It’s another favorite of hers that was also on Grey’s Anatomy. You’ll recognize it I’m sure. 🙂
I love Bon Iver! I usually just switch on my Pandora radio station that’s based off Mumford and Sons & Iron and Wine. I named it “Mumford and Wine” because I’m nerdy like that. 🙂
I always forget to turn music on. I think of it after whatever I’m cooking or baking is inevitably in the oven or I’m cleaning up! Love Bon Iver, good stuff!
I too often forget to turn music on. People always comment how weird it is that I cook, clean, do everything but drive the car in silence, but I really just don’t notice or think about it half the time. I love streaming to KCRW but often just forget to turn it on.
Okay, this is going to sound ridiculously nerdy, but sometimes i listen to NPR while cooking.. i’m basically 65 yrs old and LOVE them haha. Otherwise it’s Pandora;s Vampire Weekend playlist. 🙂
Right now I have Marty Robbins playing on my record player. Flipping over old records are not the best thing when your hands are covered in flour and dough but I love my player. I had just switched out the BeeGees. 😀
this post made me realize that I haven’t listened to music while cooking in a long time, or even listened to music in general except in the car. I need to do that!
*nerd alert* when i listen to music while cooking/doing whatever…it is usually the epic soundtrack channel on pandora. I like to try to guess what movie it is (usually pretty easy…) Yep. My hubby loves to tease me about it 😉

Love Love Love Bon Iver! I totally did a double take when I saw your playlist since I’m always raving about him to my friends and non of them know what I’m talking about. You have good taste is music! 🙂
I’m always listening to music in the kitchen. My most common playlist is a random shuffle of Mumford & Sons, David Gray, and Ray Lamontagne. I never tire of these artists.
Huge Bon Iver fan! I also enjoy Coldplay. Takes me back to a summer job and a first love. Ahhh. I just downloaded their new single. Lately, I’ve been listening to a lot of Adele, Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Foster the People, Two Door Cinema Club, Tom Petty, and Ratatat.
I’ll have to check out Damien Jurado because I’m from Ohio, so I’m already liking the title of the song.
