Hey!
Don’t ya hate it when the weatherman lies?!
So, originally when I woke up this morning I looked online at the weather and it said it was going to pour all day. This was after I had planned my bike ride and after I blogged. So, I cancelled said bike ride, ran errands and when I came back it still hadn’t started to rain but I decided to play it safe and RUN instead. Ran 2 miles outside, ate some yogurt + kiwi:
And then it looked like it might start raining again so I met up with Anna and Lisa from the studio for a bootcamp style workout. At this point the sun was actually starting to shine and we went outside for 40 minutes and did a fast paced workout consisting of lunges, lunges and MORE lunges….jumping squats, side lunges, dips, reverse push-ups, regular push-ups, crunches and step ups. I think the surrounding businesses must have thought the three of us were crazy, doing lunges up and down the hill over and over in front of the studio but hey, who needs a gym when you have sneakers and two friends that are personal trainers?! At least we will have strong legs.
After working out, I met one of my friends for lunch at my favorite place ever–East West! This restaurant is sooo jenna-friendly; I love it. Usually I order the hummus or falafel but after all that exercise I decided I needed some protein so I got the salmon wrap with a side of fruit.
This was SO good! The wheat wrap had salmon, hummus and tabbouli in it and was deliciously messy.
Snack this afternoon was a half serving of Ezekiel cereal with blackberries and almond milk—-
And then tonight I grabbed sushi with a friend for dinner. Seaweed salad!
We shared this interesting baked roll (lion king roll?!) and I have no idea what was in it….and also the spicy tuna roll topped with MORE seaweed salad (my favorite!)
Had a piece of chocolate for dessert
I’m sort of on a green tea buzz right now since our server kept refilling my cup! Going to take a bath with my new bubble bath and READ……starting As I Lay Dying by Faulkner…read The Last Song (nicholas sparks) all on the plane yesterday. Ridiculously cheesy and predictable but enthralling none the less.
Goodnight!

You read an entire book yesterday while traveling? Wowzers. Mmm…fresh blackberries. Haven’t had those in forever. Enjoy your bubbles : )
That sounds like quite the leg workout! Seaweed salad is my absolute favorite thing to order at a restaurant! It is so delish and soooo healthy which is the best combo!

Last Song is on my to-read list…how does it compare to Dear John? That fruit looks yummy!
i struggled through my one and only faulkner novel i’ve yet to read (the sound and the fury) but it was totally worth it. good luck! foods, as usual, are rockin’.
So … you are one of those people who eat the kiwi fur eh?
Reading ‘As I Lay Dying’? A gal after my literary heart. Absalom Absalom, Sound and the Fury, Light in August, As I Lay Dying? Sighh, such an amazing Southern writer. Faulkner + bath tub + dark chocolate sounds like an ideal evening, capping off with some journal writing would just make it the tops! Cheers!
The weather man lies so much. For us he’s predicting a foot of snow. We’ll see.
Nicholas Sparks books are the best for long plane rides! I read The Choice from beginning to end on a long flight to India. They’re just so cheesy and wonderful all at the same time!
That salmon wrap looks amazing, the sushi too! I’ve tried seaweed salad once and hated it. It was pure awful. I wish I could like it, but there was no way I could eat it.
CJ
Mmmm… that salmon wrap looks perfect. Especially after a killer workout like that! Speaking of lunges, while I was watching Biggest Loser tonight, I did lunges during each commercial break. Lemme just say, there is a LOT of advertising for that show.
It’s too bad you didn’t get a ride in today- though lunges with friends are always a close second..
How do you like baked sushi rolls? I’m not really a big fan- unless there is tempura yam in it..
Hope you get some sunshine tomorrow as well!
My hubby and I were just talking today about how weatherman get it so wrong sometimes! But it sounds like you had a really fun outdoor workout!
I love when days turn out like that!
I’ve read As I Lay Dying! Good to get some Faulkner in every once and a while. Congrats on your leg workout…I did a big one on Sunday and I’m still sore 48 hrs later.
At least it wasn’t the other way around!! I would hate for a sunny forecast and then find pouring rain. Great job on the run!
I keep telling my parents to try eating kiwi with the skin but they don’t believe it’s possible
The outdoor bootcamp sounds like SO much fun! I miss doing stuff like that with friends since I’ve moved to a different city.
The weather man ALWAYS lies. A lot of times he’ll say there’s a 60% chance of rain as I’m watching the rain come down…
green buzz is the best.
Oh I read the Last Song. Yes it was predictable but really good!! And girl you had one tough workout today!! That wrap looks delicious. I’ve never had salmon like that before.. yum!!
oooh that salmon wrap looks wonderful
I do get annoyed when the weather people are incorrect. I know they’re only human, but yesterday it wasn’t supposed to rain and what happened? I left work and it was raining. I didn’t have an umbrella or a jacket and so I got wet. Similarly, today, thinking it was going to rain, I brought my large and in charge umbrella and the sun shined.
Meteorologists must be extremely humble people. They’re constantly wrong!
I think being a weatherman is the one job where it seems okay to be wrong ALL THE TIME. I don’t get it. At least you were able to enjoy some of the unexpected sun and go for a run!
It’s so weird reading about you eating out all the time. Must be because I gave up eating out for the year as I couldn’t remember making a single meal last year…ooooops! Still read though as it’s interesting seeing all the different foods.
The first time I scrolled through on Google Reader looking at the pics, I thought you made the wrap. Guess it is very Jenna friendly! I tried seaweed salad for the first time last Friday and I don’t know where it has been all my life?!
the sushi looks so amazing…i haven’t had any in the longest time! Viva la seaweed salad!!!
ooooh, the lion roll ~ that would be baked salmon w. crab and avocado in a delicious teriyaki sauce right?? i just tried one of these at my favorite, “miyuki” on solano ave. does this sound like the one that you had?
Oh As I Lay dying… that is on my book list for my english course this semester…let us know how you like it! The title has me dreading it, but hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised!
I’m sure you get told this all the time, but not only are you an inspiration for healthy living, but you are an inspiration to READ more! I love reading and sometimes let it pass me by by doing other things that I think are more important. But there really is nothing like snuggling up with a good book. Thanks for inspiring me to read again – I’m off to do it!
That sounds like an amazing workout! I have been known to lunge outside, too.
That sushi looks awesome, we haven’t been out for sushi in ages due to my current dietary restrictions.
As I Lay Dying is such a great read! Enjoy your bath, tea and that novel!
Wow, that wrap looks so soft and tasty! I never thought to put salmon in a wrap, but now I’ve got to try it.
As I Lay Dying is one of my favorites! We read it back in high school. I’ve been trying to read Absolum! Absolum! and whoa is it a tough read. I forgot how much concentration goes in to reading a Faulkner novel.
Wonderful workouts and meals for the day! Particularly that salmon wrap, that looks like such a satisfying post-bootcamp meal. The fruit looks downright artistic!
I am SO jealous as we’re buried under nearly 3 feet of snow in Washington DC. Blues skies and sunshine? What’s that?!
Wow that sushi looks really good. BTw, good job on expanding your wrap selection. Salmon is great after a big workout
As I Lay Dying is a good one!!! Have you read The Sound and the Fury? It’s my favorite of all his…but I don’t think I would have understood ANY Of it if I hadn’t read it in a class with a professor who could explain it to me
Looks like great eats– LOVE seaweed salad!
Green tea totally sneaks up on me like that. I’ll drink it throughout the day just b/c I want something warm and soothing, but after 4-5 cups it really has some kick!
Okay, so I know the weatherman always lies. But sometimes I fall for it, I do. Last Friday I was going to run a seven miler and he was so close to swearing on his own life it was NOT going to rain until that night. A few times. Mmm..started raining at about mile 5.5 and then after I got home it pretty much poured on and off all day. Alllll day! Come on weatherman..you couldn’t see that one coming?
Done venting. It’s awesome you have two friends who can kick your butt..In the best way possible!
Delicious looking sushi! I wish we had your weather over here, it’s the snowpocalypse in the DC area!
Outdoor bootcamp is the best! I can’t wait for the weather to warm up in Boston so I can move workouts OUTSIDE!
great back to home workout jenna! I too also loveee seaweed salad. I even toyed with the idea of buying it BULK at my grocery store the other day!
The fruit cup that came with your salmon wrap looked amazing. I wish we got stuff like that where I live. No such luck!!!
What a workout!! Our weatherman lied too…he said lots of snow and we got nothing
I love trying new bizarre sushi rolls! When you work out with you trainer friends, do you have set workouts or make it up as you go along?
at least it turned out to be a beautiful day!
I love Faulkner’s short stories, but HATE As I Lay Dying. Maybe because I was forced to read it and write reports on it 5 different times in college?
Nicholas Sparks is great for traveling. It did turn out to be a beautiful day. That salmon wrap looks great!
You just reminded me that I have had a severe lack of blackberries lately. Must fix that! btw – love your blog – it’s one of the high points of my day!
Oh my that fruit bowl looks so fresh and lovely! I wish we had some sunshine here. It’s been dreary and snowy for weeks:(
Spring IS coming sometime I’m sure though.
Yes I hate when I try to plan my workout around the weather, and then the weather man lies! Oh well, sounds like you got in a kick butt workout anyway.
East West sounds phenom
I actually love “As I Lay Dying”. It’s very dark, but so enthralling. I think you’ll find it to be a very interesting read!
I always feel like Nicholas Sparks books are ridiculously cheesy and predictable, but for some reason I just keep on reading them…
Love seaweed salad ALL the time. Delicious.
Our meteorologists have all been very right this week – lots of snow! It looks like you are having lovely weather, but the unpredictableness must have been frustrating. I think it’s awesome that you made the best of it with the activities you did in place of your bike ride – that rocks!
I read that book for English in college. I actually enjoyed it!
What a great workout! Go you!!!
I looooove As I Lay Dying…the expatriates of the 20s are some of my fav writers ever so I adore Faulkner, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Pound, Stein, etc…I hope you love it, too!
I love that workout! I’m sure anyone that would even think to poke fun would be jealous that they weren’t participating.
Can I just say that all of your eats for the day look amazing? Especially the sushi and the salmon wrap … yum!
K
That wrap looks AMAZING! Also, it reminded me that tabbouli exists! YUM!
Oooh love the sushi!! Sounds like a great workout too – I think the worst is expecting snow and then getting rain instead… boo to that!
Funny story — When I first moved to FL I was desperately seeking friends so I started a book club online and our first book was As I Lay Dying. We decided to meet in person at a restaurant to discuss the book and I came prepared with my notes and questions, etc. I was so excited to meet the other ladies in the group. Well, EVERYBODY STOOD ME UP! Once home I sent a group email saying something to the effect of “Forget you know me!” So I have no good memories associated with As I Lay Dying. =) But the good news is, I quickly found an already established book club and here I am 5 years later and the book club girls are my Florida BFFs. Hope you like the book more than I did!
East West sounds amazing! That wrap is a killer combo. Salmon, hummus and tabbouli? Yum! The sushi looks awesome, as well. I love seaweed salad!
Glad you had a great day of eats with friends!!
I’m tired of this rain too! And where did this cold come from, the past two days the temperature has dipped and taken me by surprise!
Your salmon wrap looks so delicious, that’s definitely something I would select from a menu.
May do a spur of the moment overnight stay in Sonoma this weekend with some wine tasting. We might stop by your winery!
gosh the salmon wrap looks delicious! glad you are home-safe and sound. enjoy your ride today!
