500 Lunges Later

Hey!

Don’t ya hate it when the weatherman lies?!

So, originally when I woke up this morning I looked online at the weather and it said it was going to pour all day. This was after I had planned my bike ride and after I blogged. So, I cancelled said bike ride, ran errands and when I came back it still hadn’t started to rain but I decided to play it safe and RUN instead. Ran 2 miles outside, ate some yogurt + kiwi:

IMG_4514
And then it looked like it might start raining again so I met up with Anna and Lisa from the studio for a bootcamp style workout. At this point the sun was actually starting to shine and we went outside for 40 minutes and did a fast paced workout consisting of lunges, lunges and MORE lunges….jumping squats, side lunges, dips, reverse push-ups, regular push-ups, crunches and step ups. I think the surrounding businesses must have thought the three of us were crazy, doing lunges up and down the hill over and over in front of the studio but hey, who needs a gym when you have sneakers and two friends that are personal trainers?! At least we will have strong legs. :)
After working out, I met one of my friends for lunch at my favorite place ever–East West! This restaurant is sooo jenna-friendly; I love it. Usually I order the hummus or falafel but after all that exercise I decided I needed some protein so I got the salmon wrap with a side of fruit.

IMG_4516
This was SO good! The wheat wrap had salmon, hummus and tabbouli in it and was deliciously messy.
Snack this afternoon was a half serving of Ezekiel cereal with blackberries and almond milk—-

IMG_4517
And then tonight I grabbed sushi with a friend for dinner. Seaweed salad!

IMG_4521
We shared this interesting baked roll (lion king roll?!) and I have no idea what was in it….and also the spicy tuna roll topped with MORE seaweed salad (my favorite!)

IMG_4525
Had a piece of chocolate for dessert :)

I’m sort of on a green tea buzz right now since our server kept refilling my cup! Going to take a bath with my new bubble bath and READ……starting As I Lay Dying by Faulkner…read The Last Song (nicholas sparks) all on the plane yesterday. Ridiculously cheesy and predictable but enthralling none the less.
Goodnight!

You read an entire book yesterday while traveling? Wowzers. Mmm…fresh blackberries. Haven’t had those in forever. Enjoy your bubbles : )

That sounds like quite the leg workout! Seaweed salad is my absolute favorite thing to order at a restaurant! It is so delish and soooo healthy which is the best combo!

Reading ‘As I Lay Dying’? A gal after my literary heart. Absalom Absalom, Sound and the Fury, Light in August, As I Lay Dying? Sighh, such an amazing Southern writer. Faulkner + bath tub + dark chocolate sounds like an ideal evening, capping off with some journal writing would just make it the tops! Cheers!

The weather man lies so much. For us he’s predicting a foot of snow. We’ll see.

Nicholas Sparks books are the best for long plane rides! I read The Choice from beginning to end on a long flight to India. They’re just so cheesy and wonderful all at the same time!

That salmon wrap looks amazing, the sushi too! I’ve tried seaweed salad once and hated it. It was pure awful. I wish I could like it, but there was no way I could eat it. :(

Mmmm… that salmon wrap looks perfect. Especially after a killer workout like that! Speaking of lunges, while I was watching Biggest Loser tonight, I did lunges during each commercial break. Lemme just say, there is a LOT of advertising for that show.

It’s too bad you didn’t get a ride in today- though lunges with friends are always a close second..

How do you like baked sushi rolls? I’m not really a big fan- unless there is tempura yam in it..

Hope you get some sunshine tomorrow as well!

At least it wasn’t the other way around!! I would hate for a sunny forecast and then find pouring rain. Great job on the run!

I keep telling my parents to try eating kiwi with the skin but they don’t believe it’s possible :)

I do get annoyed when the weather people are incorrect. I know they’re only human, but yesterday it wasn’t supposed to rain and what happened? I left work and it was raining. I didn’t have an umbrella or a jacket and so I got wet. Similarly, today, thinking it was going to rain, I brought my large and in charge umbrella and the sun shined.

Meteorologists must be extremely humble people. They’re constantly wrong!

I think being a weatherman is the one job where it seems okay to be wrong ALL THE TIME. I don’t get it. At least you were able to enjoy some of the unexpected sun and go for a run!

It’s so weird reading about you eating out all the time. Must be because I gave up eating out for the year as I couldn’t remember making a single meal last year…ooooops! Still read though as it’s interesting seeing all the different foods.

I’m sure you get told this all the time, but not only are you an inspiration for healthy living, but you are an inspiration to READ more! I love reading and sometimes let it pass me by by doing other things that I think are more important. But there really is nothing like snuggling up with a good book. Thanks for inspiring me to read again – I’m off to do it! ;)

Okay, so I know the weatherman always lies. But sometimes I fall for it, I do. Last Friday I was going to run a seven miler and he was so close to swearing on his own life it was NOT going to rain until that night. A few times. Mmm..started raining at about mile 5.5 and then after I got home it pretty much poured on and off all day. Alllll day! Come on weatherman..you couldn’t see that one coming?

;)

Done venting. It’s awesome you have two friends who can kick your butt..In the best way possible!

Funny story — When I first moved to FL I was desperately seeking friends so I started a book club online and our first book was As I Lay Dying. We decided to meet in person at a restaurant to discuss the book and I came prepared with my notes and questions, etc. I was so excited to meet the other ladies in the group. Well, EVERYBODY STOOD ME UP! Once home I sent a group email saying something to the effect of “Forget you know me!” So I have no good memories associated with As I Lay Dying. =) But the good news is, I quickly found an already established book club and here I am 5 years later and the book club girls are my Florida BFFs. Hope you like the book more than I did!

May do a spur of the moment overnight stay in Sonoma this weekend with some wine tasting. We might stop by your winery!
