Last night, I ate a crab the size of Sebastian on steriods.
Today, I was feeling inspired so I spent all of my weekly grocery money (oops) on a deluxe set of chalk pastels, paper and a new sketch book. And then I sat at the kitchen table and spent two hours drawing Adam a beautiful picture.
Hah! This is the photo I drew. I can’t show you the actual drawing…. you’d laugh at me!
While I was deep in my artistic zone, I broke Adam’s kitchen chair. I don’t know how. He laughed, I blushed, and then I presented him with my masterpiece. And then collected my supplies and went home. He says he will frame it and keep it forever!
Tonight we have a date night involving church, the local taco truck and The King’s Speech.
Tomorrow, dave farmar comes!!!!!!
The End.

That’s awesome that you’ll do yoga with Dave Farmar! I’m sure you’ll be sweatin’
I hope you enjoy the King’s Speech! I saw it a couple of weeks ago… Colin Firth!!
That’s so fun you decided to…pastel? Sketch? I clearly am not an artist.
Look forward to your review of the King’s Speech–we were neutral on it but everyone older than us seemed to love love it!
I always wished I was more artistic than I am. So cool that you got all those pastels!
LOL @ the broken chair. I really think you should post your beautiful masterpiece though!
Love that : “The size of Sebastian”…okay, can somebody please send me a copy of The Little Mermaid!?
Do you draw for real though? I really want to see The King’s Speech. Firth is supposed to be amazing in it. I wonder if the movie is as good though or if it’s really the performance worth seeing? Let us know!
Eventful weekend for you. We had a big snowstorm and I haven’t left my bed.
I am banned from any form of physical exercise for the next 5 months…and you definitely inspire me to find other things to put some love into. I’ve been reading — unfortunately, I made it halfway through “Freedom” by Jonathan Franzen, and while it is a tremendous book, I don’t think I can finish it – can’t give it the attention it deserves. I need to start making better picks, since I’m pretty much on bedrest.
Do you ever have to not finish a book? That bugs me, but oh well.
That movie sounds good. I hear Colin Firth gives an amazing performance. Enjoy it with your guy.
I just finished reading Her Daughters Dream (on my kindle!) – it was SO much better than Her Mothers Hope. At first I did not really want to read it but I decided to give it a go, so glad I did! Also, The Kings Speech is FANTASTIC! I cannot wait to hear what you think!
Jenn
This might be the cutest story ever.
You are adorable.
Ooh, I’m looking forward to hearing how King’s Speech is!!
Just stumbled onto your blog. I really like your honesty. Great pics:)
Ohh c’mon! You told us about the picture..the least you could do is show the drawing!
We won’t laugh. Seriously, I’m sure if any of us laughed we’d be immense hypocrites.
I love all the colors! I think you could sell that picture and pay for the chalk. I would hang it on my wall. Enjoy Dave Farmer!
I absolutely ADORED The King’s Speech. Hope you love it just as much!
I’m glad you weren’t upset that you broke a chair. I might have cried. And I really want to see that picture you drew!
Dave Farmar!!! OMG ENJOY!!!!!!!!
I have not practiced with him personally but of course, would love to! I hope you have a great practice!
I love the bright chalk colors. And that you had a taco truck today too
Enjoy your night and I want a full Dave report tomorrow, please!
Aww, you guys are adorable
Enjoy The King’s Speech! I heard it was really good, and it won a bunch of stuff at the Critic’s Choice Awards last night!
Not many people would appreciate my drawings either, but I love doing them. I do crafty things at least a few hours per week. It’s good for the soul… kind of like chocolate and avocados (just not together… I don’t think).
Your picture of the pastels is gorgeous!!!
oh my goodness, my thighs just quivered upon seeing his name! they are still scared of him since the last time i did a 75 minute podcast.
Ah have fun with Dave Farmar! His itunes podcasts kill me, but I love them.
So jealous that you have a taco truck! aaand you guys are adorable.
I’m so not artistic, but I love all the different colors of pastels.
I hope you like The King’s Speech – I want to see it so badly!
Aw, I love being artistic, too. So sweet that you drew Adam a picture. Enjoy your date tonight!
Show us your drawing!
I love that photo of the pastels… it’s inspiring me. One of my majors in college was art (since I knew I’d take a bunch of classes for personal enrichment, I picked up the major in addition to my “real major”) but I haven’t done anything in awhile. I want a deluxe set of pastels.
that is great you are drawing, me too!
I loved King’s Speech, I hope you like it too.
I love the first photo. The vivid colors are beautiful
Do you live near Windsor? We are going there next week. Any hole in the wall recommendations in or around that area? Thanks!!
I’m actually really curious about this broken chair :p We had a friend come over (who happened to be pregnant) who was the last straw on one end of our futon. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while but on the upside we now have a use for the phonebooks the apartment keeps passing out
Jenna,
Can you please please direct me to the post that you had sometime in 2010 where readers listed TONS of books they’d recommend you reading? I just spent 20 minutes going through your archives and couldn’t find it?
ooo what is your dinner that looks tasty. Also where is that waterfall. Its really pretty and I have an obsession of hiking to falls
believe it or not, I spent a good part of the evening playing with acrylics!
But the important part of the evening was that I made your recipe for chicken parmesan….all I can say is…My Mister was a very happy and contented camper!! Thanks for (once again) a keeper-of-a-recipe…
love,
cathy b. @ brightbakes
I am not artistic at all! I am glad Adam liked your pic
Wow, wonderful! I would love to see the pic, I love the pastels!
I love how you spontaneously bought chalk. I used to do that sort of thing ALL the time (which I loved) and haven’t for a while. Thanks for reminding me that it always makes a day fun!
Oh man, I haven’t used pastels in SO LONG! I haven’t sketched or anything like that in a long time in general. The closest I’ve gotten is coloring in a coloring book. Not quite the same thing.
That is super exciting that Mr. Yoga Man himself is coming to your studio!
Have fun!
That’s so cool that you’re going to Dave Farmar’s class! Love his podcast.
Ooh, I really want to see ‘The King’s Speech’ – it looks fantastic. I love that you are embracing your artistic side!
dork-ishly (made up a word) excited to hear about your yoga-celebrity encounter! ha. enjoy!
I LOVE doing art with pastels, but haven’t in forever!
The picture of your pastels is gorgeous!
Sounds like a great date night! Let us know how The King’s Speech is, I’ve been dying to see that!
Yoga with Dave Farmar!!! I can only imagine how awesome (and tough) that will be!
I want Jimmy Barkan to come to my studio…
oh my gosh that does sound like a wonderful saturday! the date night sounds fun, i can’t wait to hear how you like The King’s Speech
I literally just bought some new charcoal this weekend in an attempt to bring out my artistic side (ha!). Good luck to both of us!
I want your life.
Can’t wait to hear about Dave!
I want to learn to make tacos like the ones from that truck. you need to do a recipe like that for us!
oh and i’ve only heard good things about the king’s speech!
King’s Speech is excellent!
any outside day is wonderful. any saturday is wonderful too!
oooh I have heard wonderful things about the Kings Speech!
Oh my goodness, I hope that you will share a tidbit about your practice with Dave Farmar! Practicing with Baron Baptiste has been the highlight of my yoga life but I imagine that Dave Farmar would run for a really, really close second.
I heard the King’s Speech is an awesome movie! I’m a Speech Pathology major and we’ve been talking about the movie in a few of my classes this semester. I think I should definitely see it asap!
My mom is a pastel artist.
One of the BEST date nights I’ve heard of in a while
I wish I had any artistic talents! I especially love your food photography.
How was the movie?
SO good!!!
You have a local taco truck?! That is so cool. That beats my town’s popsicle truck!
