Hi guys!!!!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
I would be totally lying if I told you I wasn’t running around like a chicken with its head cut off right now. Reality has started to sink in and there’s just SO MUCH TO DO! On top of it all, I’m about to part with my Sammie
Awwwwwww I got this Honda when I had just turned 19 and it has seen me through Alabama, Florida and South Carolina. Countless road trips, spontaneous adventures and good times. So so so many memories in this car….RIP Sammie!
In it’s place, I’m hopefully about to trade it in for a 2009 white Honda Civic which will be shipped to me in Santa Rosa next week. I’m naming her Abby
There’s just no way in the world Sammie could make it cross country….poor, poor Sammie.
Let’s see….what else have I done today? Oh yeah, I ran 10 miles!
Wooooowwweeeeee!!!! It actually was a really, really good run and I just tried to soak it all up since I knew it would be LAST! I used the Galloway method the whole time (per advice of the athletic trainer I saw last week) and did a 5:1 run walk ratio, finishing in 1:44. My shins actually didn’t bother me at all and I focused the whole time on alignment. Before I left, I ate a peanut butter sandwich and while I ran, I drank gatorade and then around mile 6, and then 8, I ate Annie’s fruit snacks! The sugar really did make a difference in my performance and I was able to keep up a steady pace and make it without hitting the wall or anything.
When I got home I ate the only thing I could find…..fast!
a HUGE bowl of Nature’s Path optimum cereal in skim milk. We didn’t have any bananas or any fruit whatsoever!
And then my mom dragged me to get the one thing I couldn’t leave home without:
A FLU SHOT! boooooooo and ouch!
I then ate a bar from my purse:
And a BIG turkey whole wheat pita from pita pit with baked ruffles and a green tea for lunch!
Sorry if this is a totally spastic post…..I’m sitting on top of mountains of clothes that have to be packed. Surprisingly I’m not sore at all from my run, which is AWESOME because I don’t have time for sore quads today!
Be backkkkkkkkk!

Your mom is smart to get you a flu shot. I have to make an appointment for mine soon.
I love the flu shot pic! I posted one on my blog but it was “after” with my tweety bird bandaid, haha.
Good luck with all your packing and everything! Go live your dreams
I hate shots!! I need a flu shot though. I’m so excited for your move–is that weird? lol
I moved from NC to California in 2006 so I know the feeling. It’s so crazy to move across the country. Congrats on your 10 miles. That is so wonderful!!!
Yay, for running 10 miles! After many monthes of injury I am finally running again. I’m building up my mileage so that I can run a 1/2 marathon in October. So excited! Your pita pit lunch looks good….wish we had one of those in new york!

Hi Jenna,
Congratulations on the 10 miles! That’s awesome – and I’m so glad that you’ve stuck through all the tough times with your shins and blisters and kept going! You’ll do fabulously in the run! You really inspire me to not lose sight of the long-term goals and persevere through the rough times. Well done again and best of luck both on your new job (congrats!!!), the move and the race! I’ll still be an avid reader of your blog whther you’re in Florida or California!

I love Hondas, I’ve had 3 myself! Good luck w/ packing
WOW 10 miles, good for you girl!!!
Congrats on the great run and HEY- Welcome to California.
I think Sammie may have survived (I have many friends with ’94, ’95, and ’96 Civics), but I’m also *very* happy with my own blue ’09 Civic.
Your going to have sooo much fun! I wish I was in your boat! I hate shots too!
Great run! Congrats on all the changes…how exciting!
Wow, that awesome about your run this morning! I’m so happy that you were able to not only have it mostly pain free, but also that you enjoyed it! Woot Woot!
No apologies necessary! You have stuff that you need to do and blogging for our sake is so not priority. It’s your life and you gotta do what you gotta do. Don’t stress and GOOOOD Luck!
I’m impressed that you’ve kept up your training in the midst of this big move!!! I was thinking about that and think it is INCREDIBLE! Especially since you’ve had so many issues with your shins. I’m so glad you were able to have a pain free, great run! I can’t wait to get our for my next run! I’m packing my running gear for our vacation next week…we are headed from HOT Florida to cool NC mtns. Can’t wait! This will also be my first blogging vacation. So exciting!
YAY for 10 miles!!! =)
White Honda Civic= awesome!! 4 door, or 2? This is such an exciting time for you!!!
I am so excited for you! I can’t wait to hear more about Californiaaaa
Great job on the run too!
How do you have time for so much stuff when you’re just about to move across the country?! Packing for simple road trips is just about enough to make me want to scream. Anyways… I hope you can keep as calm as posible during the next few weeks
LOL @ the flu shot picture
i still need to get mine!
great job on your run… i’ll be running my first marathon in 10 days and i’m thinking of running the galloway method of 1:1 run/walk for the first 18 miles. during my training i averaged a 9:20 pace for my long runs (13-22 miles) and didn’t take any walk breaks. i’ve got a few friends who trained using the run/walk and they don’t ache like i do. they’re also about 10 years younger than me but still… you really should get a bicycle. it’s great fun to ride through wine country! easy on your knees, too!!
Congrats on the new job and the move!! What exciting news!!
Smart move on the flu shot. I’m just getting over it haven’t been to work all week. Today is the first day I can function – no fun!
Jenna, this is all so exciting! And congrats on the 10 miles! What an amazing accomplishment. Good luck with all of the Cali preparations. Moving across country is stressful, but much joy and happiness awaits you on the West Coast.
woah you are a busy girl today jenna! lets see here…(1) a+ on getting the flu shot…my mom made me go to my school’s health center yesterday and get shot up with it haha I am getting the swine shot as soon as that comes out (2) always hard to say goodbye to a car…but also always awesome to get a new one (3) pita looks good! (4) awesome with the run! seems like it felt very good, too! love experimenting with fuel during the run too! gotta figure out what works best before your half! (5) good luck with everything and please travel safely lady!
Congrats on 10 miles!! That is amazing, and glad to hear your shins don’t hurt!
I hate getting my flu shot!!! A few years back, after I got my shot, I saw my Mom get hers and I fainted full on into a huge cookie display, knocking the whole thing over and the cardboard from the display gave me cuts on my face and then some creepy dude came over and completely groped me while “helping” me up…. not a fun memory of flu shots lol.
Ahhhhh!!! indeed! Congrats on the move Jenna. It sounds like something that you may have been dreaming about for a while and making these kinds of moves is so so exciting! Totally pleased for you to be taking this adventurous step!
AND congrats on the pain-free ten miles! I’m hoping for something similar on Saturday
I actually ran my standard (3.3 miles), aside from my stairclimbing regimen (lucky 7 reps!) today. I’m not up to running ten miles yet, but you’re a serious inspiration to me. =)
Good luck with the move!
I don’t get flu shots, but my mom tries to drag me to it
Congrats on non-painful run!
omgoodness! i leave blogging for a day and this happens! thats so funny too b/c i was in tampa this afternoon and was half-expecting to see you running on bayshore =)
i wish you so much luck in California! you deserve it girly!
Jenna, what an exciting new chapter in your life!! I look forward to reading about your job and life out west! It does seem like a huge step of faith but God will be right by your side the whole time!
It sounds like the run/walk combo is really working for you! I may have to try it
And… good luck with the big move!!
Awesome, 10 miles! Good luck getting everything ready!!
xo
K
Best of luck with your move! You will do great.
Also, wanted to let you know I’m going to try your method of mixing gatorade and water when I do my longer run this weekend. I’ve been feeling hungry/weak after a few miles in so maybe that will help!
Awww, how sad to leave your old car – but that is cool to get a new one! I can’t believe you ran 10 miles on a crazy day like this! That is impressive! You go girl! Hehe! Good luck with the rest of your packing and I hope everything goes well!
GOOD LUCK!! You’ve had so many amazing opportunities that you worked to get and you have really earned it! I know I love checking your page to see what else you’re up to and can’t wait to see what Cali has in store!
Awesome job on the run! I am always starving the whole day after a long run.
Eeekk, the big move is tomorrow! You have got to be excited!
Moving/packing sucks!
I can understand why you are filled with feelings of craziness!
jenna, Good luck in Cali. I always thought that if you walked for that long, it wasnt really considered running 10 miles!! HAHhh glad you are trying though.
Congrats Jenna, this is too exciting. You will love Cali so much, I hope to one day move back down there. I wish you the best of luck on your adventure and new home!
i cant believe with everything going on for you, you can still fit in 10 miles! way to go and in making your health a priority!!
AH! I would be the same if I was moving TOMORROW!
Congrats on your run and lack of soreness, lady!
Lucky duck! I have an 05 honda civic and I bought her brand new when I turned 18, and I dont think she would survive cross country either haha. If the car is gonna be in your parents name (mine is haha) I would recommend keeping it registered in fl only becuz they freakin DOUBLED our yearly car registration, so I now pay 440 a year for registration! insane! thats what my friend did who moved from iowa, but the car was in her dads name so she kept it registered there- no one can prove otherwise (cops lol) that your just borrowing ur parents car!
Eeeep! Good luck with everything! It sounds like you’re taking a really awesome risk (a GOOD risk) here with the job, and moving and all. You’re really an inspiration. And grats on the run!

I’m so excited for you Jenna!
