Exercise/ Fitness/ Lunch

Don’t Forget To Hydrate!

Hi!

Thanks for all the sweet supportive comments on my last post. And, for the record (and like my mom said…thanks, mom), I AM a natural blonde even though I have dark eyebrows and no, I really wasn’t wearing makeup..not even lip gloss. A) Why would I lie about that? B) why does that matter? So weird.

Anyways!!

I cleaned everything this morning, unpacked, repacked, organized my closet and now have a big bag of clothes to give to Goodwill. I ate a turkey, hummus and laughing cow sandwich for lunch with an apple and then left for my long bike!

The ride was HARD!!!!!!!! I was going to do 40 miles but only did 36…I ran out of water and should have planned ahead. It was really hot and the hills killed me! I’m feeling a tad dehydrated right now and know to plan better next time….yikes. During my ride I ate a total of 4 shot blox and when I came home I devoured a huge grapefruit then passed out on my bed for an hour. I think the heat actually got to me a little bit..not going to lie. And I thought I was from the South??! 😉
When I arose I ate this bar and took the world’s longest shower.

I LOVE these new Luna protein bars! I wish I could find them at other places rather than just Whole Foods, which is pretty out of my way. They are super filling and have 180 calories and 12 grams of protein in them…plus, they taste really yummy. This one really did taste like cookie dough.
I’m getting ready for a fun night with friends! There’s a possibility of Ethiopian food and it’s Rocky’s 22nd birthday. Good times ahead! Must hydrate!

Re: the comments about whether or not you’re wearing make-up in the first pic…I honestly feel like you brought the debate upon yourself by saying, “Excuse the morning-sans-any-makeup-at-all face.” Just like you said in this post, “B) why does that matter?” If it didn’t matter, why didn’t you even mention it?

Hi! I don’t often comment, but I just had to say that people are bizarre and leaving snarky remarks about whether or not you are wearing make-up is entirely petty! You’re a gorgeous woman — that much is obvious. I think people get jealous, that’s all. I guess take it as a compliment. Ha.
Also, you handle all of this with such grace. You put your life out there for so many of us to see. I think everyone needs to respect your privacy, and also know that you don’t share EVERY detail of your life on here (nor should you). It can be easy to romanticize the life we see on the blog because you and your pictures are so beautiful. But, anyone who’s human must realize that you have hard days just like anyone else, and you have disappointments and money worries and all that, like anyone. I have to hand it to you for continuing to write such a positive, inspiring blog, even when you get some oddball comments. I’m so sensitive, so you encourage me to not care so much what anyone thinks. It’s your life, your blog, etc. That’s my $.02.
I hope you start to feel more at home in CA! I’m a CA girl, born and raised and I love it here 🙂 Have a good weekend!

Jenna, I really don’t understand the eyebrow hype – I’ve always thought yours were au natural! In fact, I’m totally jealous! I have flesh-colored eyebrows and lashes, no joke…they blend right in and even though they’re there I still look like whoopi goldberg!

I agree with a poster above–when exercise a lot and eat well look fantastic and as if wearing make-up without any. Exercise is truly the Fountain of Youth. Nothing is more attractive than vibrant fitness and health–and you have that.

I’ve had periods when so incredibly fit that strangers in the street and in stores remark and ask ‘are you a dancer, do you teach dance/areobics.’ And then slacked off–as when my brother died–so I understand the difference.

I think you are beyond FABULOUS Jenna. Am SO grateful I found your site. You truly saved me when my brother died, around the time your brother died, too. I’ll always be supremely grateful to you for your inspiration. You handled it with grace. love and a lot better, more positively than I did, so appreciate your courage and strength, because I know it’s like being rolled over by a tank in Tiananmen Square that no one can appreciate unless they have the supremely bad fortune to experience it.

You pulled me forward by example. For that I will always be grateful. I can honestly say that nothing helped me more than your site. And I’ll always bless you and your darling parents for that. And Dexter, too! 🙂

Yikes when I read through the zillions of comments in last post I realized we are a zany bunch of readers that must drive you batty sometimes!I for one apologize.
We come back to this blog over and over because you shine and radiate something special in your WORDS.
Forget all our silly comments and intrusions on your own life.
You are beautiful inside and out and you care about the world around you.
You have brought tears to our eyes through your sweet words and descriptions of your beloved brother John.Reading your posts throughout your shock and grief of the worst time of your life made us all reflect on life-how fleeting it can be and how we need to try and embrace the now more.
You have done your brother proud-you have embraced change and followed the winds of the ocean. You have taken risks and yet provided us with the sweetest of comfort foods at the same time.
For some reason your blog rings so true to me, especially when you write from the heart.
You may be a beautiful blonde living in California, but as we all know looks are only one small part of a very wise, intelligent and PRIVATE woman. We only know a little bit of your personality and soul(although we presume we know more!)

I hope you will surf some waves in California this summer for you and your brother, maybe write some poetry and just sip some iced tea in the shade and experience a bit of summer bliss and peace.Namaste and thank you for your being real AND a darned good writer 🙂

I wouldn’t even give silly, clearly jealously-driven comments the time of day. Let the anonymous bullies sulk in their envy coated shells.

GREAT job on the bike ride! Considering this was your first long ride in over a week, I think you did exceptionally well! I’m eager to try those new Luna bars. I love Lara Bars due to their short ingredient lists, but they don’t offer much in the protein department.

    #33 Ava,
I was not one who ever mentioned ANYTHING about Jenna’s makeup ever,so i don’t know why you find me eerie.
I was apologizing on behalf of any of us that ever asked too much about her private life ,made any comments etc.
It is a bit eerie your comment but perhaps you had me mistaken for another commenter,or perhaps my comment here wasn’t clear in what I meant.
But the good thing is you gave me a clear idea how it feels to get a slightly insulting comment my way…I can’t even imagine how Jenna deals with the gazillions. I admire her and I have never said anything negative about Jenna, ever.
I am a big fan of Jenna’s writing and just wanted to mention that I really shouldn’t be asking about her significant other upon reflection, not my business!

  • M
    April 10, 2010 at 5:05 am

PS Once again to #33 Ava
Upon rereading my first note above,I realize I was probably too personal in mentioning her family.Perhaps you found it eerie since I did that? If Jenna prefers not to have that ,I will stop doing so immediately.
So in an “eerie” kinda way #33 Ava,thanks for pointing out something that wasn’t actually your point! 🙂
    Namaste all!

    Hey Jenna!
My hair is the same way as yours. I was super super blonde when I was younger with blue eyes but as I got older my hair darkened (along with my eyebrows), so I highlight my hair to lighten it. I loved your brunette hair (and seriously thought about trying a darker color for once) but truth be told, I like blonde the best! Have a great time tonight!
