Hey guys!
I’ve definitely played catch-up today….but I’m so tired! I never thought a “vacation” could be so exhausting, but leading a conference definitely was an emotional and physically draining experience. I fully planned on doing some yoga today but I ended up just standing in downward facing dog awhile, stretching, and then calling it a day. It was a lesson in honoring my body 🙂
I snacked on some cashews from my sweet Summit swag bag!

My new Barney Butter shirt!!!!!!

Awesome.
Lunch was a salmon salad sandwich (1 can salmon, canola oil mayo, dijon mustard, hot sauce, curry powder. don’t knock it–it works!) with swiss cheese on oatmeal bread with applesauce on the side!

This afternoon I sprung and got my airline tickets for San Francisco next month! SO excited about the conference and going to the wine country again. Many more vlogs in the future, methinks. 😉
The other half of my Pro Bar for a snack—

My mom was working late so I made a quick dinner for my dad and I. Chicken piccata with rice pilaf and salad. When I can’t think of what to cook with chicken, I go the picatta route more often than not. It takes only like 15 minutes and is very tasty! I never actually use the recipe I linked to…..I just throw stuff in and it always works. No measurements or anything….this is totally a grab and go kinda meal! My mom actually made this rice earlier today so all I did was reheat.

+ a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and cookies for dessert!

Still working on emails and post-Summit notes now but hoping to dig into my new PAT CONROY book very soon! Pat Conroy is hands down my favorite author of all time (I’ve read every one of his books twice) and today I got the LAST copy of his new book “South of Broad” at Barnes and Noble. I’ll keep you updated as to how it is!

August 17, 2009 at 9:07 pmPat Conroy is my all-time favorite author too! Lords of Discipline is my favorite, and my book club is reading Beach Music next month. I got South of Broad and have read the prologue and the first 3 chapters…then I had to force myself to go to bed!

August 17, 2009 at 9:10 pmPat Conroy is a great writer, I love his stuff.
Good job listening to your body, it’s understandable that you girls would be tired after plane rides, multiple runs along the river, full days of the conference and constant mingling! I can barely function when I get home from work let alone after going out with friends.
You need a vacation from your vacation!

August 17, 2009 at 9:10 pmI cook chicken more or less like that all the time-I’m going to have to start doing the deglazing with stock thing!

August 18, 2009 at 12:13 amJenna!
I love your blog! When you go to SF be sure to go to Napa and try and go to Hill Family Estate tasting room located in Yountville… There is great food in the area too… Yountville is known for the French Laundry and other amazing fine dining restaurants… If you have time book a Hill Family Garden tour with my brother Ryan Hill and experience the Organic, Locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables along your walk… If you are going to SF at the end of the month Hill Family is having a 2 day Tomato Party… You get to try over 25 tomato varieties and drink lots of wine…
Cheers!

August 18, 2009 at 12:41 amI think I need to given salmon sandwiches another try – because yours looks so good! I like fresh salmon, but I have always opted for canned tuna instead of canned salmon because I was never a big fan. Your sandwich is tempting me to try it again!
Sara
August 18, 2009 at 12:44 amSandwich looks good! — like when it’s been in a lunch bag and gets all nice and smushy. Also, I enjoyed the swag ProBar, though I really do wish they were smaller. Excited to see more beautiful pictures of CA here soon. Hey, your readers can live vicariously through you, can’t they?! 😉

August 18, 2009 at 12:55 amI have NEVER made chicken piccata and I have no idea why not – the flavors look like they meld so tastily together! My goal is to work without recipes a lot, and I think I will follow your lead.

August 18, 2009 at 1:07 pmI love Pat Conroy! His books have an epic quality to them. I would like to mention that I have been reading your blog since you first started 2 years ago and I still enjoy reading it. I also have a question for you, what do you think of bars (ex. Pro Bars) as meal replacements? Thanks! Love the blog
Alison
August 18, 2009 at 4:42 pmI was grocery shopping the other day with my daughter and she picked up a package of those cookies you like so much. Even though I’ve only commented here once before and don’t know you at all, I thought of you immediately when she showed me the Petit Ecoliers cookies.
I truly enjoy reading your blog!

August 19, 2009 at 11:07 pmWOW…I tried your curry salmon salad recipe, except subbed canned tuna for the salmon and it was like a whole new world of tuna salad opened up to me! I’m new to your blog but really love your meal ideas so far. Its inspired me to work out today and eat healthier.
