Somebody needs to hit me with some major motivation.
I don’t know why and I don’t know how, but I have absolutely ZERO energy today. I mean, it’s totally gorgeous outside, I’m writing a book, I have a big black cat sitting in my lap (he’s not wearing shoes….but still), and I have fun plans for dinner. What gives?
All day long I’ve been roaming around my house in my bathing suit, t-shirt and slippers. No pants. They are unnecessary. I meant to go out for a three hour bike ride and then came in after 30 minutes. I don’t really have a reason for that. I’m sorry.
I would like a big oatmeal cookie though, since it’s national oatmeal cookie day and all. Maybe baking will lift whatever funk I’m in? Maybe some yoga? A nap and a glass of wine? Meh meh meh
Anyways, for lunch I had a hummus/laughing cow sandwich, an apple and some yogurt.

Are you still training for the Echelon Gran Fondo? Use all of those people who you will help as your motivation, maybe.
lmao you are so funny, walking around with your bathing suit on. XD love the honesty, it brightens my day <3 have fun at dinner wherever you're going!!
I say go have some carbs/a nice big oatmeal cookie (oatmeal is carby
) – you’d be celebrating the best day of the year AND getting an energy hit! Win-win
i feel very zonked out.. similar a bit to how ur feeling. need a kick in the bum for sure. lol xoxo <3
eh, it’s friday. sometimes everyone gets burnt out by the end of the week! weekend’s here in just a few hours!
Sometimes you’re just “meh” for no reason, and exhaust yourself even more by trying to figure out why. Just go with it–swimsuit and all–and bake some cookies.
And if all else fails, I have to admit, dogs and cats wearing clothes/shoes never fails to make me smile. It’s wrong, but so right…
Sometimes we all feel a little funky. Whenever I feel meh, I put on my favorite music and have a dance party. Drinking a glass of wine while baking also sounds like a fabulous idea to me.
Pants are overrated. I refuse to buy anymore and want to stock my closet only with dresses and maybe a few skirts. I feel too confined in pants. Strange?
Oatmeal sounds good- and maybe some wine, too!
I vote for wine! I’m sipping a great red. Kumala Eternal Shiraz/Cab … it’s big and bold and yet so smooth and almost sweet. 14.5% so my head is spinning!
That’s why they call it Friday–your brain is fried
We all have days when we walk around the house with no pants on, have no fear.
That’s okay!!! Everybody has those days. Just do something that will make you happy.
Erin, #8, a woman after my heart! The other day I had the house all to myself and pants, there were none! Just a t-shirt and undergarments were worn. I’d gotten new PINK underwear from VS and I felt like they were so cute I didn’t mind prancing around in them. And yes, I prance.
I get in funks like that too. It’s usually a result of over-training for me.
We all have those days! I had one last weekend. I hear ya! I am currently delaying exercising for no apparent reason. On another note, that pug in shoes is so flipping cute.
Sometimes we all get in funks, especially during difficult weeks. Feeling the energy sap is totally normal, so honor it! And let yourself be and do what you want!
girl, i feel the exact same way….except a nap sounds fabulous. which is why i’m going to go to sleep now…goodnight!
I am dragging today @ work and also have fun dinner plans…what is up with this friday funk? I had no clue it was oatmeal cookie day, I want one!
Don’t apologize; everyone has those off days! An oatmeal cookie sounds like the perfect cure.
Sometimes – it’s just one of those days.
As everyone has said above- it’s one of those days. you’ll forget it by tomorrow! Maybe relaxation is what you need today. Follow your instincts.
It’s the full moon !!
Oatmeal cookie will definitely help, and you have to celebrate national cookie day.
I’ve been feeling funky for the last few years of my life.
Yes, bake some cookies. Oatmeal chocolate chunk sounds good
I completely agree. Pants are completely unnecessary. My roommate might beg to differ when I walk around in the undies but whatev. Listen to your body. If it wants to have a lazy day, listen to it! If it wants an oatmeal cookie, eat it! There will be other not-so-lazy days. I’m a big believer in naps
I say put on some good music and grab a good book
I also hate wearing pants! I walk around the house in underwear and a shirt! I also often take the bra off! I like the music and dance party idea! If that doesn’t work, make the oatmeal choc chunk cookie batter…..then go out and do something….reward yourself with a cookie when you get back! But I think the Dance music may just work! I can see you dancing around your apartment in your bathing suit now! Have a great night with those dinner plans!
I’m going to say that you need all three–wine, yoga, cookie! Enjoy your fun dinner
hey jenna! this is random but i saw at at the store just now & it made me think of it….do you still drink amazing grass? i never see if on your blog anymore. if not, do you drink anything similar?
Ah yes, THOSE days. Just go with it! Forget motivation– curl up with the cat, a cup of tea (or wine, which tastes equally good in a coffee mug), read a good book and resolve to get motivated tomorrow. I think this happens when we really need a mental health day!
I’ve felt that way today as well! I hate feeling so yucky…
Jenna,
DON’T resist the funk! Seriously, there are times that we just go through this – some people it’s for days…others it’s for years…:(…honestly you end up in more conflict by fighting it…
hope your day gets better – I’d like to be reading a book and going out too!
i was in a funk today too! happens to us all i guess
yummy sandwich!!! i love those darn laughing cows..so versatile! on veggies, in a sandwich, in brown rice w/salsa, on a bagel..etc!
Wahh!! I was totally having one of those days too. Working out felt so “blah” today. I think it’s time to give my mind and body a rest : )
I’m sorry you feel funky, Jenna!
That’s totally happened to me before, when I plan to do a workout and just realize 5 minutes in that today’s not the day!
You should go out and buy a yummy oatmeal cookie!
I’ve been having one of those days too, I think something is going around?
I had no idea it was national oatmeal cookie day! I actually made some pretty slammin’ oatmeal banana cookies today. And I never bake. What are the odds?
Yah I need major motivation today too since the weather here sucks. Sometimes you just have to roll with it and see where it takes you. Hailey
You mentioned earlier this week that you had a migraine. I always feel a little ‘off’ after a migraine. I suspect it’s because my body is so tired from being in constant pain. I also crave sweets and carbs right after a migraine. Either way, I hope you just went with it, enjoyed it and feel more with it tomorrow!
Everyone gets that way sometime! You’ll be over it soon enough!
I know the feeling…but it happens
I think the only thing you can do is let it pass…tomorrow will be a new day and you will feel refreshed!
I feel the same way. I’m in a “time off” with my boyfriend, i have stomach issues, my ankles hurt and i could run only for 30 minutes and i think i have allergy :S
Hope you found your mojo!
EH, everyone has those day! So normal, maybe you needed the rest. Did you wind up making the oatmeal cookies?
In college when a pants-free day was needed we’d often just wrap a blanket around our waist if modesty was necessary… this fashion trends was fondly known as “blanket pants.”
Pants are seriously overrated.
Everyone needs a day like that- enjoy, and have that glass of wine
! By the way my husband and I just had poached eggs per your instructions- O-M-G- what an awesome breakfast, thanks for the easy instructions!
hoping that today is a better day without any funk
are you planning on stopping the blog? or are you just busy? it seems like the blog took a huge turn, it’s so different now, but of course I still love it.. are you not blogging all your meals anymore?
