Lunch

Feeling Funky

Somebody needs to hit me with some major motivation.

I don’t know why and I don’t know how, but I have absolutely ZERO energy today. I mean, it’s totally gorgeous outside, I’m writing a book, I have a big black cat sitting in my lap (he’s not wearing shoes….but still), and I have fun plans for dinner. What gives?

All day long I’ve been roaming around my house in my bathing suit, t-shirt and slippers. No pants. They are unnecessary. I meant to go out for a three hour bike ride and then came in after 30 minutes. I don’t really have a reason for that. I’m sorry.

I would like a big oatmeal cookie though, since it’s national oatmeal cookie day and all. Maybe baking will lift whatever funk I’m in? Maybe some yoga? A nap and a glass of wine? Meh meh meh

Anyways, for lunch I had a hummus/laughing cow sandwich, an apple and some yogurt.

I say go have some carbs/a nice big oatmeal cookie (oatmeal is carby :D) – you’d be celebrating the best day of the year AND getting an energy hit! Win-win 🙂

Sometimes you’re just “meh” for no reason, and exhaust yourself even more by trying to figure out why. Just go with it–swimsuit and all–and bake some cookies.
And if all else fails, I have to admit, dogs and cats wearing clothes/shoes never fails to make me smile. It’s wrong, but so right…

Sometimes we all feel a little funky. Whenever I feel meh, I put on my favorite music and have a dance party. Drinking a glass of wine while baking also sounds like a fabulous idea to me.

Pants are overrated. I refuse to buy anymore and want to stock my closet only with dresses and maybe a few skirts. I feel too confined in pants. Strange?

I vote for wine! I’m sipping a great red. Kumala Eternal Shiraz/Cab … it’s big and bold and yet so smooth and almost sweet. 14.5% so my head is spinning!

Erin, #8, a woman after my heart! The other day I had the house all to myself and pants, there were none! Just a t-shirt and undergarments were worn. I’d gotten new PINK underwear from VS and I felt like they were so cute I didn’t mind prancing around in them. And yes, I prance.

I completely agree. Pants are completely unnecessary. My roommate might beg to differ when I walk around in the undies but whatev. Listen to your body. If it wants to have a lazy day, listen to it! If it wants an oatmeal cookie, eat it! There will be other not-so-lazy days. I’m a big believer in naps 🙂

    April 30, 2010 at 4:27 pm

I also hate wearing pants! I walk around the house in underwear and a shirt! I also often take the bra off! I like the music and dance party idea! If that doesn’t work, make the oatmeal choc chunk cookie batter…..then go out and do something….reward yourself with a cookie when you get back! But I think the Dance music may just work! I can see you dancing around your apartment in your bathing suit now! Have a great night with those dinner plans!

Ah yes, THOSE days. Just go with it! Forget motivation– curl up with the cat, a cup of tea (or wine, which tastes equally good in a coffee mug), read a good book and resolve to get motivated tomorrow. I think this happens when we really need a mental health day!

    Jenna,
DON’T resist the funk! Seriously, there are times that we just go through this – some people it’s for days…others it’s for years…:(…honestly you end up in more conflict by fighting it…
hope your day gets better – I’d like to be reading a book and going out too! 🙂

You mentioned earlier this week that you had a migraine. I always feel a little ‘off’ after a migraine. I suspect it’s because my body is so tired from being in constant pain. I also crave sweets and carbs right after a migraine. Either way, I hope you just went with it, enjoyed it and feel more with it tomorrow!

In college when a pants-free day was needed we’d often just wrap a blanket around our waist if modesty was necessary… this fashion trends was fondly known as “blanket pants.”
