So, this morning I’m going to share some very very VERY exciting news with y’all that has been close to my heart for awhile.
First of all, let me preface this by saying it is VERY HARD TO KEEP A SECRET ON THE BLOG!!!!! I feel like I share a huge chunk of my life on here and that’s why, for over two months now, I’ve been bursting at the seams to tell you guys the latest development in my life.
Of course, what would I be if I didn’t weave the whole story into it?
It all started in mid-August when I was in Vero Beach visiting Christie and working at the cupcake store….remember?!
This was way before I decided to move to California and I was sort of at a spot where I had no idea where my life was going. You know when you feel like you are on the brink of something totally awesome happening but you just aren’t there yet? That was how I felt. I felt STUCK.
And then I got “the email”…….
I literally started screaming in the cupcake shop!
And then, just last month, I flew out to NYC to finalize the deal….oh, the mystery! 
So yes, I’m going to confirm now what a bunch of you have already guessed………
I GOT A BOOK DEAL!!!!!
My book will hit bookshelves in Spring of 2011 and I honestly keep pinching myself wondering if this is really happening. I mean, honestly, this is all I’ve ever wanted and the fact that it’s now coming true not only excites me more than anything but also scares me to death!
The book is going to be a memoir with recipes-–of my time in culinary school and living in Paris. It will be about 250 pages and will be found in the cookbook section of Barnes and Noble.
I still can hardly breathe when I think about it. This is coming from a girl who used to sit in the cookbook section of the bookstore for HOURS and read recipes when she was….eight. I mean, I practically have all of Alice Waters books memorized. All my life I’ve wanted to be an author and I feel so incredibly blessed with this amazing opportunity.
How did I do it? The found me! I’m working with a wonderful publishing company in New York and, surprisingly enough (haha), they found me from the blog. Seriously, the email from them came 100% out of the blue when I was so frustrated with my life and not feeling like I was going anywhere. Everything happens for a reason, and there couldn’t have been a more opportune time for this to occur. Like I said, I just am so blessed and thankful and still can’t even believe it’s all going down.
I guess I need to buy a desk?

A memoir with recipes for you seems perfect, because even though you’re still young, you’ve lived an extraordinary life (peppered with amazing meals, and food symbolism). I have no doubt that you will continue to top yourself with wonderful and admirable achievements. I’ve said it once, and I’ll continue to say it a thousand more times: you are an inspiration!

Jenna—-first congrats, well deserved! but i have two questions: you said a large part of your book will be about when you “lived in Paris”—i thought you were only there for like, 6 weeks? second, you said you can buy it “in the cookbook section of Barnes and Noble”—is this the only store that will be carrying it, or were you using that as an example?

Jenna: Your blog is an inspiration to me. I am putting every ounce of energy I have into mine because I too am hoping to turn it into something I have wanted for my entire life. I have always wanted to be a journalist, columnist – you name it. I just want to write! But I got pregnant while in college and never finished. I don’t regret anything in my life EXCEPT not finishing college. I chose to be a stay at home mother and let my husband chase his dream of being a chef. He became an amazing chef and then 10 years later decided that it’s too hard on our family and is back in school finishing his degree in accounting. Funny how things work out, but I wouldn’t trade what we have for the world. Congratulations on your book deal. That is AMAZING and I am so proud of you. Reading your blog I almost feel like we’re friends (which is the very weird part of this medium) but also know the feeling of ‘being on the verge of something amazing, but not quite knowing what it is yet’ because I am there myself. I feel as if I’m at a turning point in my life and know it’s going to take me (and my family) some place amazing, but what that is I still don’t know. I keep faith and know it will be shown to me at the right moment. So until then I will keep blogging and reading your blog too. I adore it and NEVER miss it. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
