Got it!

Well guys, I’m not very internet savvy but I realized if I just unhook the ethernet cord from the back of the computer and plug it into my latop, I’ll get the internet! Genius! Still not sure if I will be able to post more than once a day but I guess I’ll find all that out today during “orientation” when I get my schedule and learn more of the ropes. ahh! Nervous!

Anyways, this morning I set my alarm for 6:45 so that I could get a nice run in. I ran three miles in 30 minutes but randomly burned 540 calories. Hmm? The run was hard mostly because my muscles felt like they were still asleep but………….MY SHIN DID NOT HURT! I repeat—my first pain-free run yet!!!! I stretched my calves out thoroughly beforehand and warmed up with a 5 minute walk and then afterwards I stretched as well….and no pain! It was amazing!

Before my run I snacked on this bar:

But it went right through me and I was starving the entire run. I seriously felt like my muscles were eating themselves. Note to self: eat more protein!

When I got back, I made some powerful oatmeal with 2 packets of Optimum Power oatmeal (Nature’s Path brand), half a scoop of vanilla protein powder and a sliced banana.

Hopefully this will keep me full for awhile!

I’m relaxing with coffee and watching the Today show. I have to admit, it’s nice to be able to watch tv again since in Orlando I didn’t have cable! I could get used to this! 😉

Have a wonderful day yall—I’ll report back later with lunch and snacks!

Jenna, you may have answered this before, but what brand running shoes do you recommend? Also, to all of you readers who run, what shoes have word for you? I get a lot of foot pain when I jog, and I think it has to do with my shoes.

I very rarely get hungry during a run (exception being the super long ones), and it usually takes me a little while to get hungry when I’m done too. I know it makes a lot of people feel very hungry. Interesting how exercise affects bodies differently.

Unfortunately I think something might be wrong with your HR monitor. But hey, at least your shins didn’t hurt!

I usually don’t get hungry on runs and need to wait at least 30 minutes to eat afterwards. However, I DO get really thirsty and realllly don’t want to have to carry a waterbottle. What is that hydration belt you got a while back?

Yay for enjoyable and pain free runs!!!
What type of protein powder do you put in your oatmeal? I really like Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard 100% Whey Vanilla Ice Cream protein powder. I will have to try it in my oatmeal before my next long run!

Haha, my family and friends think I’m insane when I’m like: “I MUST EAT NOW. I AM FEELING VERY CATABOLIC. I WORKED VERY HARD FOR THIS MUSCLE.” I know that feeling. It’s no good.

    Amanda,

I got a camelbak and LOVE it!!!! Totally worth the $40!

    KK,

I usually put the Designer Whey Vanilla protein in my oatmeal. It’s okay but not favorite way to add protein to breakie. I would rather have yogurt so I only do the protein powder trick in a pinch.

SawSaw, re: shoes – go to a fitness store like Fleet Feet sports and have them help you with a shoe fitting. If you don’t have a store like that, go to the Brooks web site – they have a neat “shoe finder” tool based on your foot type, gait, etc.
