My Daily Adventures
by jenna on March 9, 2010
hey!
Trying to be productive!!!! This morning I pulled myself together and had a great two mile run followed by lunges up and down my street, 30 push-ups and 60 crunches. We had to cancel our group workout at the studio because Anna had too many errands to run so I had a makeshift one outside on my own. It was sunny but COLD. Thank goodness for wunder unders (I just like saying the word “wunder under”).
After my workout I grabbed a cappuccino and ate the rest of my breakfast grapefruit. Whole milk makes all the difference in cappuccinos….I shall never go back to anything but!
Lunch was TJ’s tomato soup with an open faced hummus and avocado sandwich + a big ol’ carrot!
I ate the soup too fast and totally scalded my esophagus. Now it feels like I have a bad sore throat.
After lunch was when the daily procrastination set in. I took about four walks downtown, mopped my floors and made applesauce oat bran muffins out of Veganomicon
Finally, around 4:45 I decided what I really needed was a glass of vino to get the words flowing. Or at least that’s what
Caitlin said I needed. I trust her opinion on these matters.
Done and DONE. 1,000 words just like that. Well, not really just like “that” but you know….
Had a few Morningstar farms buffalo wings (love these) plus a huge spinach salad with hummus, salsa and goat cheddar for dinner—
Plus another crack bar for dessert…..on top of my new book that I got on one of my many walks this afternoon. The girl standing next to me was talking about how her book club was reading it so I figured it was worth a try…plus, it was on clearance for only $8.99!
Guess who’s running a
5K next weekend???!
Gosh, I am SO EXCITED!!!!!!! The race is in Napa at a winery next Saturday morning and my friend Michaela is also running it. I haven’t run in a race in almost a YEAR and I can’t wait. I’m a little worried because Michaela said “its a gorgeous run but very, very, very hilly”…..not quite sure what that means. Hills are not my friends. But I figure I can make them work for 3.1 miles. I need to get new headphones because mine are broken and for the past few months I’ve been listening to music out of one ear only. Hmmm
Okay. I need 1,000 more words to make it to 50,000. It.is.ON.

ugh, i totally eat soup wayyy too fast all the time, too. it’s just too. darn. good. good luck on your 5K!
WOW….you made it to 50,000!!!! Congrats! And congrats on your upcoming 5K! You will have a great weekend!
Need to make those bars!
Whole milk does make all the difference in lattes and cappuccinos. And hooray for running 5k’s! That’s so exciting that you’re going to race
Are your baked goods are making me super jealous…and hungry!
Great job with your run and congrats on getting so far in your writing!
Yea for Educated Guess! One of my favorites!
Love the name of that wine!
Congrats on your writing accomplishment today.
Hahaha I just tweeted that I have so much work yet all I want to do is bake. I see you BAKED…but you got your work done too so you’re ahead of me! Great job on the 1,000 words and awesome news about the race!!!!
How awesome that you’ve almost written 50000 words! What a huge accompllishment.
The Seamstress looks like a really interesting book. Maybe you can let us know what you think about it when you are done?
Ah, nothing like a little wine to get those creative juices flowing
good luck on getting to 50,000 words. what an accomplishment that will be!
Yay on the writing!!
Ahhh…I can’t believe you’re almost there…to 50K words!!! So exciting! Is that a recent runnin’ pic of you? You look mighty toned ‘n’ tan =]
Hillary,
hahahahaha no that a year ago. Hence the “toned n’ tan-ness” LOL
lululemon rocks my world! that muffin looks absolutely wonderful, but i hate when i scald my throat with soup/bevs too!
Kudos on the word progress, the race, and the delicious eats! I’m especially impressed that you’re able to do 30 push ups. I can do 10, then it’s crash and burn.
I totally did the same thing the other day when I was eating an egg and cheese bagel. I burned the top of my mouth and it hurt for a good two days! Good luck running the 5K! Hills are good for you!
Isn’t it funny how we do things like mopping the floors rather than work? Been there, done that. Have fun with the gorgeous run!
i bet a glass of vino helps a lot of things along…like the saying says, helping white guys dance since 1980 or something?
good luck in the 5k!
Ahhh yes. Gotta love the power of wine to get the word’s flowing.
I’ve learned that my French improves dramatically with each glass
Hope the rest of your evening is great – and GOOD LUCK in the 5k! Very exciting. I’m sure the course will be beautiful too. Sure sounds like it!
Just curious…Do you use salad dressings? Your salads always look super yummy but it doesn’t look like you use a dressing….
Congrats on the word count!
Salad looks delish. That muffin looks yummy, too!
A 5K? Wow. Can’t wait to read about it!!!
Hills can be SO tough! I’m sure you’ll rock it though!
Procrastination is the name of the game these days! Sadly, that can’t be much longer with midterm season here. And a Floridian running hills? Ouch! Good luck. For both things, as you said: “it is ON!”
Hehe, I still can’t do ‘real’ press ups, so if you did all of those the proper way, go you!!
Good luck on the 5k
good luck with your run! i totally get what you mean about full milk! xxx
Your avocado sandwich looks goooood!
Wow! You are so close to finishing!! I’m glad the wine helped with the words flowing! It always helps me too
I’ve gone a year once not being able to hear from one of the headphones. They were a $40 pair, so I was stubborn and didn’t want to buy new ones since it hadn’t been a year that I had been using them. I have decided to just buy the cheap $7 ones once a year. What kind do you buy/have?
Love the TJ’s tomato soup – yum. And the Morningstar BuffChix – soo deliicious!
Woohoo for running a 5k! You’re back in the game!
Wooohooo!! You’re gonna rock the 5k!
I love 5k’s…they offer just the right amount of a challenge when we need/want it.
Races are so fun! My first 5K of the season is next weekend, too, so the excited feelings are mutual!
Yay for running another race! I’m sure you’ll be just fine, even with the hills! And when you go back to Charleston running will be a snap, since it’s flat
Good for you for almost being done writing! That’s incredible. Also, good for you for drinking whole-milk cappuccinos
Now that’s a statement.
I love Educated Guess! I had some at an office holiday dinner and have not been able to find any since! It’s amazing how wine can making writing so much easier
Good Morning Jenna!
I wish my teacher would let me drink a glass of wine in class! haha! We are all getting our master’s so they always make comments about how we are “adults” and it isn’t the same as undergrad
Great advise Caitlin, we all know the words DO flow after a glass of wine!
I have a recommendation on your headphones. I use SkullCandy and i love them. They cancel out all background noise, come in different sizes, and have quality similar to Bose (my ex was a tech/web/video editor and did all the research)
Hope you have a great day!!
Love the newest baking projects! Oatbran applesauce muffins sound delicious!
That’s really exciting news that you’re doing the 5k next weekend! You’ll be great!
I love soup! Good luck on the 5k this weekend
YOU ARE A GODDESS!
told you wine would work!
I hate when I do that with soup! You think we would learn
Glad you got those words out!
Looks like such a balanced day of eating. Whole milk really does make such a difference in the creaminess of lattes!
Uh oh! Running jenna is back! Be careful though! Great eats and I can’t believe you got so much accomplished! you even got a new read.
So exciting that you’re running a race again! I bet it will be a beautiful route!
I’m doing a 5k this weekend, too, and an 8K the next weekend!! Good luck on yours. P.S. TJ Maxx and similar stores sell heaphones.
What a lovely simple lunch! Love hummus + cado together
That muffin looks delicious. Veganomicon is on my list of cookbooks to get!
So exciting that you’re running a 5k! To me, 5k’s are such a fun, playful distance
I’m like that right now with my schoolwork…It just isn’t in me right now so i’m blogging haha. Keep up the hard work!

i know what you mean about whole milk making all the difference. for a treat, i’d so much rather have a small whole milk mocha than a large skim milk one any day!!
Haha, wine makes everything easier!
Oo a race through a winery sounds beautiful!! Just use the view to distract yourself from the hills
Yummy muffins. Your race next week sounds like it will be a good one.
You will kick that 5 K’s booty! Guaranteed.
Yum to the muffins/spread…I swear, I would eat carbs/fruit all day long if I could. *sigh*

Awesome about the 5K! Tip for hill running: when going up shorten your stride and take shorter quicker steps. When going downhill enlongate your stride and let the hill carry you. HAVE FUN!

good luck with your race next weekend!
Congrats on finishing 1000 words. I know wine used to always get words flowing for me too…but in a different way. Think college party days
That does sound like it will be a pretty and fun run for the race this weekend. And like you said, I bet you will have no problem cranking out those hills for a 5K.
I’ve tried the Morningstar Chick’n nuggets; those ARE good! I need to go pick up some more for the “Meatless in March” I’m doing! Good luck on your race! I’ve been wanting to sign up for one too…as motivation :>
Ahh so exciting to be getting back to racing. I’m running a 5k the last weekend of this month; they keep running so much more exciting!
I’m so excited that you get to run a 5k!
Can’t wait to see how it goes, good luck! I’ll be praying your shins don’t act up on those hills!
I also fully support the fact that wine makes writing easier. I think we question every word too much normally, but a little wine and we just let the words flow!
Glad you’re so close to 50,000!
Educated Guess is one of my parent’s favorite wines! Actually the only wine my dad ever drinks (he’s more of a beer man!). Yay for races! You will do great! I have been eyeing those crack bars ever since Polly posted them but am a little hesitant to make them seeing as I have a hard time self control around treats like that! Haha
Vino makes everything better!
xo

Good luck with your 5km! That reminds me I need to go for a run – now where are my running shoes??
I want to have the figure you have so that I can going running in little shorts like you! I cover up when I go running because everything jiggles too much, haha. Oh, and that book looks interesting!
