my five favorite super bowl party snacks

by jenna on February 4, 2012

Hey guys!

I wanted to write a quick post to share my top five party snacks, just in case you’re still empty handed tomorrow. You can’t go wrong with bringing any of these dishes to any party (hint hint you’re more than welcome to show up at my door with buffalo chicken dip) and none of them take a crazy long time to make. Except maybe the macaroni and cheese…but you can make that today! And it’s worth it….really!

1. The Only Guacamole Recipe You’ll Ever Need…..seriously. There are way fancier versions out there but I like to keep it real with the good stuff.

2. Buffalo Chicken Dip. It’s my friend Courtney’s recipe and has served me well through several sporting events thus far. Any extras are highly encouraged to be spooned into macaroni and cheese for buffalo mac. Don’t knock it till you try it!

3. and on that note, baked four cheese macaroni! This is the cheesiest of the cheesy and goes great with the above mention dip as well as margaritas. I personally adore the blue cheese crumbles mixed in, but if stanky cheese ain’t your thang, just leave it out. It’s 6:30 in the morning and now all I can think about is macaroni and cheeeeeese.

4. Cheddar Jalapeno Hummus is a wee bit healthier dip than the buffalo chicken and (almost) as delicious. Actually, my favorite thing to do with this hummus is make cheddar jalapeno hummus and guacamole sandwiches. YES.

5.Green Chili Cheddar Cheese Cornbread is a classic in this house and I think you’re gonna love it! Oh and guess what? It goes with anything. That’s right, anything. You will always be a winner if you show up at someone’s door with homemade cornbread–I don’t care who it is or what the situation may be.

I have been meaning to make that buffalo chicken dip since you posted it last year! This weekend might be the one!!

I can’t wear wool. It’s not only scratchy, but it gives me an itchy heat rash. Unfortunately my favorite sweater is made of wool, so i have to compromise for aesthetic purposes 😉

I can definitely vouch for your gauc….what I would give for a giant bowl
of it with some blue corn chips right about now!

Aylin @ Glow Kitchen February 4, 2012 at 8:14 am

oh great, wrong comment.

I meant to say that you are in good company with all your choices!

The snacks and dips are perfect and thanks for the reminder about the mac ‘n cheese. Not just for parties, but for anytime. It’s always good to have a stellar mac ‘n cheese recipe in your back pocket to impress the family and friends with :)

Totally all over that hummus. I tried some (Sabra) for the first time last week and it nearly made me cry. But it was oh-so good!! Have a lovely weekend.

What timing! We were at Trader Joes when the boyfriend said that I should make the buffalo dip that I made last year. What pops up on your front page? Buffalo dip!

Margarita February 4, 2012 at 9:11 am

I agree with you on guacamole… I like to just add simple stuff in mine like limes or lemons and salt and pepper. Avocado should be loved the way it is. Cornbread with honey, cheddar cheese, and chiles… Delight!

Lauren @ What Lauren Likes February 4, 2012 at 9:31 am

everything sounds great! 😀

briana February 4, 2012 at 9:56 am

Joss February 4, 2012 at 12:13 pm

I love that you keep it real with yummy tasty fun home cooking that people actually want to eat at a superbowl party…aka not changing things around so that it only appeals to the super health conscience (which I know is important too) – but ..cmon..superbowl – you need the mac n cheese and cheesy dip options along with the healthy stuff! 😛 😀

Conni February 4, 2012 at 12:32 pm

Can you just come to my house ( and cook for me? I love cats so you can bring Dexter!!

Michelle @ A Healthy Mrs February 4, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Deanna B. February 4, 2012 at 1:20 pm

Corn bread really does go with anything, especially your cornbread. It’s part of its charm.

Laura @ She Eats Well February 4, 2012 at 3:26 pm

I agree with you about the guac. It’s really good to keep it simple and let the core ingredients shine through. I could eat it every day. Seriously!

Erika @ The Teenage Taste February 5, 2012 at 6:02 am

Wowza, that buffalo chicken dip looks fabulous! I need to make that – maybe not today, but perhaps later this week? Yum!

Sloane @ My Life in Florida February 5, 2012 at 7:56 am

I am making this guacamole tonight for sure. It looks amazing!! Or the Jalapeno Hummus or the buffalo chicken dip…. They all sound great.

Sabrina@ Radioactive Runner February 6, 2012 at 1:01 pm

SOOOOOO..i made the buffalo chicken dip (ya know…for the guys) and ate almost the whole flippin thing myself!!! my boyfriend and i were knocking elbows and trying to kick each other off the couch trying to get at the stuff!! between the 2 of us (a few others may have had a bite) we almost finished the entire thing!!! DELISH! and totally healthy since all we had on hand was fat free cream cheese and lite ranch dressing. so basically it was a healthy dip….HA!
