the best yummiest cobbler

by jenna on September 19, 2011

It’s still not too late!!!!!

….for another peach cobbler recipe, that is. I’ve still got one pinky toe in summer since temperatures are in the 90’s all week here, and there’s still peaches to be found at my favorite road-side fruit stand.

This peach cobbler recipe is different from the rest because it has an almost sugar cookie-like crust that tastes unlike any cobbler recipe I’ve ever encountered. And as much as I love my own recipe, after making this once I have to say it’s my new favorite. There’s just something so quaint and old fashioned to it….like, it makes me want to pour a cup of tea and snuggle in with an epic world war two novel and Dexter by my side.

…or something like that. You catch my drift.

I made this a few weeks ago to take to a friend’s house for dinner and I have to say, I was “that guest”. I totally took the leftovers home with me just so I could have a bowl of this for breakfast the next morning! Who does that????!?!?

Get yourself on over to The Tasty Kitchen Blog to grab the recipe. You won’t regret it!

I have a potluck coming up this week – a cobbler sounds like just the thing to make! Very seasonal too. Do you think it can be made with a mix of peaches, plums, and apples?

Khushboo September 19, 2011 at 4:44 am

Hahah it’s perfectly acceptable to take a doggy-bag at home, even if it contains the remnants of what you walked in with ;)!

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga September 19, 2011 at 4:46 am

Jenna it looks sooo good. I love cobblers and crisps and I vividly remember your other cobbler recipe (I will never forget seeing biscuits on cobbler…not something Ive ever done!) so for you to say this is your new fave, that’s big!!! :)

Molly @ RDexposed September 19, 2011 at 4:56 am

This looks and sounds like something that I’d just want to eat the crust! I’d consider moving on to the peaches if the crust was gone and I was desperate. And then I’d make more crust…

Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat September 19, 2011 at 5:08 am

Ooh yum! I love cobbler and apple cobbler is one of my favourite fall-y desserts. Like you said though, it’s not too late for more peaches! Heading over to check it out now!

Nothing wrong with being “that guest” once in a while! Although if I were the host, I’d probably sneak into the kitchen and snag a piece for my own breakfast before handing you the leftovers…

I’ve always wondered what exactly a cobbler was. A guess kind of like a pie? Peaches look great.

Lauren at Keep It Sweet September 19, 2011 at 5:20 am

I love the idea of a cobbler topping that tastes like sugar cookie!

Gina @ Running to the Kitchen September 19, 2011 at 5:30 am

I think the best thing about this cobbler is the title. :)

Rachel @ Not Rachael Ray September 19, 2011 at 5:35 am

This looks so fabulous! I love peaches.

Heather @ Get Healthy With Heather September 19, 2011 at 5:48 am

Kristen @ Popcorn on the Stove September 19, 2011 at 5:48 am

I love cobblers — really anything with a biscuit type crust is amazing in my mind.

Hilliary@HappilyEverHealthy September 19, 2011 at 6:11 am

Caitlin @ Cake with Love September 19, 2011 at 6:19 am

Maybe I can bring summer back in New York City if I maje this cobbler?

Cait's Plate September 19, 2011 at 6:25 am

That picture of the sugar being poured in is my absolute favorite part of this post. Incredible.

Angela (Oh She Glows) September 19, 2011 at 6:35 am

That’s funny I posted about peach cobbler recipe this morning too! :) Great minds think alike. Yours looks great!

Deva @ Deva by Definition September 19, 2011 at 8:12 am

I love cobbler. It is one of those dishes I always see at family reunions, but almost never make.

Liz September 19, 2011 at 8:20 am

1. That cobbler looks & sounds delicious – I love the idea of a sugar cookie-like crust!

2. I’m jealous of your weather… I think I need to move to a state where there’s not a ‘true’ winter (like not Ohio!)

Casey @ Pocket Full of Sunshine September 19, 2011 at 8:24 am

Looks fantastic. :)

Did you go to the retreat? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Liz @ Southern Charm September 19, 2011 at 9:30 am

This looks amazing! Especially that crust … sugar cookie like? Yes, please!!

Tara September 19, 2011 at 9:43 am

I would recognize that cobbler anywhere:

Been making it for years 😉

Lindsay @ biking before bed September 19, 2011 at 9:56 am

I have no shame in taking home leftovers… Some people are just too polite:)

kathleen @ the daily crumb September 19, 2011 at 11:08 am

HA! i have definitely taken home my own leftovers before :)

Nicole @ Giraffelegs September 19, 2011 at 11:32 am

yum peach cobbler is the best!

Jenny Borck September 19, 2011 at 11:32 am

If I made something delicious to give to a friend I would probably take the leftovers home with me too. It’s hard to give it all to other people when you want more. Thanks for the cobbler recipe I’ll definately have to try out your cookie like crust!

Kiran @ September 19, 2011 at 11:37 am

Mmmm.. I want to make this before the peaches or nectarines goes away with fall around the corner.

TanyaS September 19, 2011 at 11:48 am

Excellent timing on this. I mistakenly ordered 3lbs of peaches in my produce delivery this week instead of peaches. I made this cobbler for lunch dessert – OMG. Love the topping, and my mediocre peaches became sweet & juicy.

Corey @ Learning Patience September 19, 2011 at 11:54 am

Ok, this is like food pron for my husband….his most favorite thing is peach cobbler!
Bookmarking this recipe… Thanks!

Jessica @ Jess Go Bananas September 19, 2011 at 11:59 am

LOL “That guest” Been there, done that!

Stephie September 19, 2011 at 7:55 pm

Wait…you’re not supposed to be the guest who takes their dessert home so you can finish it for breakfast? Oops……….

I have a recipe for a blackberry cobbler that is similarly different (wrap your brain cells around that one) in that it has an almost pie-like crust. Thinking about it now, I bet it would be equally delicious with peaches, though…

Kelsey @ aslolife September 19, 2011 at 8:20 pm

yummy! As much as I love summer, I must say that I’m more excited for fall food. Stews, soups, warm and hearty meals…can’t wait!
