Gahhh my present came right in time!!!!!!!!!
I totally splurged and bought myself this and am SO SO SO excited to use it tomorrow during my 5K! Just so everyone knows, you can get these for $100 less than the selling price if you go to Amazon…that’s what I did! I couldn’t believe that it was a whole $100 less than if I were to buy it from the Garmin website or get it from a store. And, shipping was free! This little gadget seems to have a lot going on and I really haven’t begun to figure it all out yet, but I do plan on wearing it for a test run tomorrow morning!
As for dinner, it was a mushroom lover’s dream!
May I present fettuccine with mushroom chardonnay cream sauce
Drool. Not to toot my own horn, but it was pretty darn amazing. Unfortunately, I can’t give out the recipe quite yet but it will be published on the Mushroom Channel website next month. I’ll let you know when it is and put a link over so yall can make it for yourself!
I also had a big salad with grape tomatoes, cucumber and drizzled with Annie’s—
A glass of organic red wine—
And, for dessert………..
Ahhhhhh these could quite possibly be my new favorite thing EVER. I fell totally head over heels in love after my first bite…..creamy coconut milk ice cream sandwiched between two delicious chocolate cookies.…………..for only 100 calories each?! The ice cream is sweetened with agave syrup and no processed sugar and everything in these little gems in totally all natural. I still can’t find most of the other new coconut milk products, but hopefully I will soon because these were just too good to be true!
My eyes are shutting right now…must get sleep. I won’t be posting pre-race because it is an early one (the race starts at 7:30) and I’m just going to have an Odwalla bar probably beforehand, and then go get a Panera bagel afterwards with my mom for breakfast.
See you after the race! =)

March 20, 2009 at 6:01 pmLove the title of your post! 🙂 Do you use a pedometer when you run? Do you know how many steps are in a mile, I am not sure. I just got those coconut ice cream sandwiches but in neopoliton flavor… they look fab. ! 😉

March 20, 2009 at 6:24 pmJenna– Thanks for the tip about Amazon. I was just looking at the Forerunners on Amazon and they said there is no compatability with MAC OS. Do you (or anyone?!) know anything about that or is it a typo?
jenna
March 20, 2009 at 6:30 pmKate,
There definitely IS compatability! I have already loaded the software on my MacBook! =) That must have been a typo or an older version..

March 20, 2009 at 6:54 pmYou will LOVE the Garmin. I bought one two years ago, and I never run without it. I don’t really connect it to my computer that much, because I’m still old fashioned in that I keep a written running log. I set mine to beep at every 1/2 mile. Hearing that “beep” in racing (and training) lets me know that I’m doing fine, and to just keep running.
Also, you must have a stomach of iron if you can eat all of those mushrooms and be able to run a 5K in the morning!

March 20, 2009 at 6:57 pmgood luck at your race!! oh my gosh I want a garmin SO BAD!! that’s very tempting…. Can’t wait to hear how you like it! It looks as though it would be kind of cumbersome on your wrist..that’s always been my main concern.

March 20, 2009 at 8:16 pmi’m thinking of switching from polar when my f4 chest strap battery dies since they aren’t replaceable and i don’t really think getting the f6 or f11 is really worth it. the garmin 305 is probably my #1 pick since the 405 is pretty expensive. let us know how awesome it is (or not!).

March 21, 2009 at 12:20 amWow Jenna, its amazing! Could you please do a mini product review after you have used it a couple of times? I am seriously considering switching to Garmin from my Polar, and I am specifically in need of knowing if it takes accurate HR measurements !

That pasta looks delish! I can’t wait to see the recipe.
I just bought a 305 forerunner too! I’ve only been able to get it to work once though, otherwise it can never find satelites!! I have to fiddle with it a bit for sure because I’m so stoked to use it!

March 21, 2009 at 7:07 amHey! This is my first time posting but I’ve been following your blog daily since I discovered a month or so back. You should know how motivating it is to see you, and others in the “blogosphere” active lifestyle everday. Makes me want to push those extra few miles when I’m out on a run! So props 😉 and please keep it up!
But… before this reply gets wayy to long, what I really wanted to know is that if you or anyone out there has any recommendations for just a good, basic HR monitor watch. I’m thinking Polar, but would like some recommendations from some peeps that have actually used & been happy (or not!) with their model. Please… any advice!?
p.s Good luck on your race! 🙂

March 22, 2009 at 12:33 pmThat’s so funny, I was just looking at that Garmin on Amazon yesterday. PLEASE let us know if it is worth the $$$. Any reason why the 305 is better than the 205? (Any Garmin owners out there?)
Thanks!
melissa
March 23, 2009 at 4:41 amHey Jenna, I was also wondering about the Garmin being Mac compatible. No problems with that? I’m really looking into getting the 305 if you’ve used it without trouble on a Mac!
Melissa
March 23, 2009 at 1:53 pmI was just looking at those “ice cream” sandwiches, maybe I should have gotten them.
The fettuccine with mushroom chardonnay cream sauce looks amazing.
Also, congratz on the Garmin. My husband has one, mostly he likes it, except that it doesn’t calculate calories burned correctly if you are running/exercising indoors.

March 25, 2009 at 10:28 pmSo this is probably a little late – but I got the Forerunner 305 earlier this month and found a software that works with it that I like a lot better than the Garmin Training Center – do a google search for SportTracks – the software is free, really easy to use (I am not sure if it is Mac compatible, but there are forums on the website, so I’m sure you could easily find out) – but the maps are better, you can “highlight” parts of your run based on your pace or your heartrate – and it will highlight sections of your map (with GTC I think you can only select a single point on the graph/map). I’m still playing with it – and finding new features all the time. I LOVE my Forerunner!!!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions – but I really think you’ll like sporttracks!
