Lunch

Turning Grapes into Wine

I’m not going to lie. Today is a BIG DAY:

jessica_simpson1alt_300_400.jpg

Don’t hate me. Jessica Simpson’s new country cd came out today though and don’t you think for a second I’m not already downloading it from itunes as I type. I know I’m probably setting myself up for some interesting comments, but I LOVE country music and I’ve loved Jessica since I was about 16 years old. (And I’m not going to lie, today was marked in my calender as the day of the big cd release).

That being said! My breakfast held me over much better than yesterday and although I was hungry by the time school got out (obvi, it had been 6 hours since breakfast at that point…), I was not “hit-the wall” famished. I ate half of my bar around 8:45 and the other half at 10:00 and was fine until I got home around 1:00 to have lunch.Β

For lunch today was more leftover soup. I’m a bore, I know, but it’s SO delicious and fast. And now it’s all gone except for the rest of which I froze for later on in the month. This soup really does get better with age. πŸ™‚ I also had the last of the strawberries, which HAD to be eaten or thrown, and some kashis.

Wines was super interesting today as we learned about “the big 12” grape varieties in the world. I’m going to make flashcards for them all because we have to memorize the name of the grape, the aromas and flavors of it, where it’s from and what food goes well with it. Tomorrow we are having our first wine tasting (with cheese & crackers—score!) and we are tasting French whites.

I think I’m going to lay down for about half an hour for a quick cat nap, make some flashcards and do some reading and then later I really want to head to downtown Orlando for a run. It’s SO much prettier to run downtown than it is here in the, um, ghetto, so I think I’m just going to brave rush hour traffic for a run.

See you tonight!

that is so funny, Jenna! I love country music! Do you know the group Sugarland? You won’t beleive this, but I taught them their own personal yoga class summer when they came through town! They were so cool and very kind and just the sweetest. Enjoy your cd!

    Hey Jenna,
I just have to tell you that until you came along (and Kath too), I thought I detested oatmeal. But all your great oatmeal concoctions, as well as Kath’s now famous recipe, changed my mind. So in return (not that I could ever repay you!) I wanted to tell you about a recipe I found that I thought YOU would love. It’s called Banana Blender Cereal, or Banana Bread in a Bowl, and I found it off of a blog called Chocolate Covered Vegan. It is amazing, either eaten cold or especially when eaten hot. You won’t be sorry if you try it! It’s that good!

Here’s the link (It won’t let me leave the link completely, so you’ll have to change the “DOT”s to “.”s) http://howtogainweightonavegandiet DOT blogspot DOT com/2008/05/banana-blender-cereal DOT html

From what I know of you on this blog, I think you are so great. Talented, adorable, funny, kind, etc. But you stuck a knife through my heart today with that picture. Whhhhhyyyy? πŸ˜‰

Side note: I absolutely loathe Jessica Simpson. Word.

I have to agree with NJ….I loathe Jessica Simpson. But, to each his own. I hope you enjoy the cd. As a fellow country music lover I was a bit disappointed to see her put out a cd. I feel it gives country music and even bigger bad rap. Alas, power to you for sticking to what you love. Most people are totally afraid to admit stuff like that.

I love Jessica Simpson! I’m not sure why, but I just do! However, I do NOT like country music. And I live in Texas now, so there’s lots of country music at certain bars. Ugh.
You’ll hafta fill us in on interesting wine facts when you get them…I love wine and would love to learn more about it!

I listened to Jessia’s new CD on Rhapsody yesterday.
I truly wanted to like it, but it did nothing for me!
I also caught her on GMA this morning and was not impressed with her newly found twangy accent.
I am, however, obsessed with Tony Romo πŸ™‚

Jenna- I was thinking of you the other night because Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel did a recent Weekend Getaway show on Orlando. She specifically DID NOT include the theme parks in her visit as a way to show a different side of the city. She went to the Farmer’s Market, some great bars and restaurants, etc… Orlando’s downtown looks amazing and I can see why you like to run there. It was neat to see!

EEKK, gotta agree with NJ on this one, I could happily go the rest of my life never hearing her annoying voice or seeing her stupid cheesy smile on a billboard ever again, gag. And country music gives me a seriously migrane, its so whiney, blargh!!! But I like things that many people despise too, so it’s all good πŸ™‚

OMG Jenna… if you still like her after you log onto You Tube and check out her GMA deal this morning then you should be canonized for sainthood, you would be WAY to kind!

And seriously, she has an uber-heavy twang now… bwahahahaha! What a total gimmick to make loads of money. Sorry Jessica Simpson talk gets me fired up. But I still think you are tops Jenna!! πŸ™‚

Side note: if you really want to see ghetto head over to Pine Hills or Parramore. You definitley wouldn’t jog there, LOL.

Yes, I totally got to teach sugarland an entire yoga class at our yoga studio in town. I was thinking it might be a bunch of people from their band or something, but nope! Just them! I was so nervous, they were totally nice. I got to talk with them a while and they are both (especially Jennifer) is really, healthy and very into yoga. She eats whole, real foods and got in amazing shape with yoga. They signed my CD and they made some calls and got me some free tickets to the show in town that evening. My hubby and I got to go, had great seats, and met them before it started. When they were singing I was like “I was just pressing on her down dog today” ha. Crazy!! Now they are super famous and each time they come on TV we giggle that I got that experience.

I also like Jessica Simpson songs… i recently downloaded the “come on over” single but didn’t realize her cd came out today! Thanks for the heads up!

Still taking sleep tips? I have a few….first, I usually turn on the nature sounds “wind” sound on my alarm clock to fall asleep to. You can put it on the sleep mode for, say, 60 to 90 minutes or just turn it on. It’s good white noise to lull you to sleep. If your mind won’t stop racing, take some really deep breaths and as you inhale, tense your muscles from your fingertips to your toes and sloooowly release tension as you exhale. Repeat a time or two until you’re relaxed and dozing….it always does the trick for me!

You are too funny!!! I’m glad you posted that you love Jessica Simpson…I don’t see anything wrong with that! I’ll admit – I’ve been a Britney Spears fan since she first came out! Even through her wackier moments I will still rooting for her to pull through. πŸ™‚ To each his own! πŸ™‚
