Hi!
I’m seriously bouncing off the walls today….and I slept awful! How weird is that?! For some reason I just cannot sleep anymore. Very strange. Anyways, I ended up racing to the gym around 10:00 because I knew I would not have time for 90 minutes of yoga today. Sad :(. Instead, I did a sweaty 25 minutes on the Stairmaster and called it a day.
I ate lunch on the run—-a chicken and swiss on whole wheat with guacamole and honey mustard. The combo actually worked quite nicely!

With a macaroon for dessert 😉

AND a freshly baked biscotti!!! These will be sold at the Summit this weekend to benefit Miss Caitlin’s Team in Training!! (get excited!)

They turned out quite nicely if I do say so myself. 😉
So tomorrow morning I’m going to do something I’ve never done before…I’m NOT going to check a bag! This might not seem like a big deal but after a minor meltdown at customs in Newark two years ago where they “stole” my raspberry preserves, I have just played it safe and always checked. But, dang! Its so expensive! I went to Target to get little bottles to put things in and ended up buying (ahem) a new dress, clipboards, folders and a new book. Mission failed. I seriously should be banned from that store. Sigh. The dress is super cute though!
I still have to pack and then later this afternoon am heading over to the Team in Training headquarters to speak to the new Winter athletes about fundraising! Wish me luck…public speaking is not my strong point.
Must keep going while energy levels are high!!!

August 12, 2009 at 1:03 pmHaha I am hardly ever able to leave Target without a new dress. Their clothes are just so cute!
haya
August 12, 2009 at 1:05 pmi’m had a jar of jam “stolen” as well, so i am checking this time (something i almost never do for short trips!). luckily air canada doesn’t charge extra for checked baggage.

August 12, 2009 at 1:05 pmI think it’s the Target curse that does it! My sister works their so I get a 10% discount..which means lot of money spending heheh. Definitely the best store ever! 🙂 Those biscotti look so good!

August 12, 2009 at 1:06 pmHaha leaving Target with an empty shopping bag is very unlikely for anyone i think! its an unhealthy drug! haha. Love that store! Don’t be nervous about your talk, you’ll do fine! 🙂 just have confidence! O and if you have a CVS near you at all, they usually have the mini 3oz bottles that your looking for, thats where i got mine when i went to CA in March! Hope you find them! 🙂

August 12, 2009 at 1:07 pmI always say I’m getting one or two things and leave with a lot more! Hence why hubby says I’m not allowed to go to Target more than once a month 😉
Whitney
August 12, 2009 at 1:12 pmohhhh those biscotti look tempting. And target is seriously an addicition. I am not allowed to go anymore. My credit card starts screaming when I pull in the parking lot.

August 12, 2009 at 1:13 pmOkay, I feel ya on the Target thing. Target and Whole Foods are my 2 weaknesses. Oh well!
The biscotti looks good!!! As well as lunch 🙂
Have a great afternoon!

August 12, 2009 at 1:14 pmSo, like, where’s your pic of the dress? It’s not like we’re not all addicted to Target, too, and won’t know the one you got. I’m the same way with Target – the prices can be soooo good you can’t say no.

August 12, 2009 at 1:15 pmThat’s exciting! Wanna give me some TNT fundraising tips? 😉

August 12, 2009 at 1:16 pmnot checking is fine. I’ve had bad experiences with checking too so I ALWAYS just carry on if I can. so much easier to know where my bag is.
Nina
August 12, 2009 at 1:21 pmI feel you on entering Target and coming out with 10 zillion things you didn’t plan on getting. Also, I only check a bag if I’m flying to a vacation that’s over a few days (like a week or longer), OR if I fly jetblue. I refuse to pay the extra money on other airlines!! It’s skyway robbery!
Taylor
August 12, 2009 at 1:25 pmI am the same way about Target – I can’t spend less than $50. I am going to start bringing in cash only. Your biscotti looks amazing, nice work! 🙂
Allie Katie
August 12, 2009 at 1:25 pmOh the same thing always happens to me at target…and I never check baggage, just have all your liquids handy! Have a great day!
Sheri
August 12, 2009 at 1:32 pmYou go girl!! Those biscotti looks fabulous! You should have no problem selling them!
Don’t get me started about Target! Every time I go there I come out with way more! BAH! Love that store!
Good luck with your speech…I am sure you will be awesome! 🙂

August 12, 2009 at 1:32 pmI used to travel 150,000 miles a year for work all over US and never checked a bag. Even would visit my son in France for two weeks, no bag checked. Just as large a rolling bag as possible to go in the overhead bin and a large [but chic] tote, and simple black, w/different Hermes scarves, pearls, classics. I think when fit/healthy, good haircut, good posture, neat and smile on face always look good. I used to speak in front of large groups often too, but just talk as if to friends. People make themselves anxious with their inner thoughts. As Jackie Kennedy said, ‘Do your best and then forget about it.’

August 12, 2009 at 1:37 pmThat sandwich combo sounds delicious1 I’m the same way with Target. I can hardly get out of there without spending $100!

August 12, 2009 at 1:49 pmIt’s impossible to go into Target with a list and stick to JUST that! I always find things I ‘need’ 🙂
Jess
August 12, 2009 at 1:51 pmTarget is so dangerous! I always come home with more than I need!
I flew for the first time without checking a bag a few weekends ago and it was frustrating but I got through it and so will you!
Cait (Cait's Plate)
August 12, 2009 at 1:54 pmI’ve never been brave enough to try biscotti – I always fear it won’t come out. Is it a hard process? And is there a biscotti pan you use?
They look DELISH! As does that sandwich 😉
Cait (Cait's Plate)
August 12, 2009 at 1:55 pmPS – Totally hear you on the Target fail. I don’t think I’ve EVER left that store with just ONE thing :/

August 12, 2009 at 1:57 pmThat biscotti looks amazing! Mmm, melty chocolate.
It’s a baking day for me too! Home always smells so good when there’s something in the oven.

August 12, 2009 at 2:24 pmI also have a Target problem – I can drop $100 in that place like it’s nothing. Eeek! There is just so much cool and interesting stuff! And you can get Kashi for a good price 🙂 The chicken sammie looks good!
Allie (Live Laugh Eat)
August 12, 2009 at 2:27 pmI just went to Target too–for AN HOUR! Just strolling along. The $1 bin was 50% off! Can’t wait to meet you this weekend!

August 12, 2009 at 2:40 pmMy uncle used to travel from the US to England all the time for weeks at a time and never ONCE checked in a bag. I don’t think I could ever do that, so I’m really impressed by your packing skills! 🙂
Definitely need to see a picture of the dress! Might as well show it off not that it’s yours. 😉
Elina
August 12, 2009 at 2:59 pmGood luck!!!
Looking forward to meeting you this weekend 🙂
Cassie
August 12, 2009 at 3:07 pmOh my goodness that biscotti looks fantastic, I think I might have to try baking that next! Good luck at Target, that place is pretty much the most dangerous store ever created.
Sarah
August 12, 2009 at 3:08 pmThose biscotti look yum!
Good luck with the public speaking gig. I’m sure you will do great! And good luck with all the Summit stuff this weekend too 🙂
Cassie
August 12, 2009 at 3:10 pmIt’s literally impossible to get through Target without spending more as planned. But good choice not checking the bags, it also cuts travel time and so nice when you’re antsy to get off the plane! I always find that when I sleep poorly I’m usually springy the next day, it just isn’t the best when it wears off… Good luck!
andmarie
August 12, 2009 at 3:35 pmI love Target–so easy to go overboard there though! Good luck on your speech, although I’m sure you’ll do great!

August 12, 2009 at 3:38 pmI’m impressed! I think I’m incapable of packing lightly enough to carry-on.
Ahhh, Target!! Kills every time…
Nicole
August 12, 2009 at 3:40 pmTarget always gets me too. From all the comments, it sure seems like that store has people in its grip!
Yummy looking biscotti though!

August 12, 2009 at 3:52 pmFellow target lover right here. sigh. I need to be banned, too.

August 12, 2009 at 3:54 pmI am so jealous of your enegry! I have been walking around like a zombie all day. I have no idea what the issue is 🙁
Eek as a woman who notoriously overpacks I have no idea how you could ever carry on what you need for a weekend in one small bag. That would fit like my blow dryer, straightener, make-up and larabars lol (wow I am more high maintenance than I thought).
J
August 12, 2009 at 4:00 pmno biscotti recipe? 🙁

August 12, 2009 at 4:20 pmJ,

August 12, 2009 at 4:07 pmHave a great trip Jenna! Our weather here in Boston has been kind of misty/foggy/chilly the past couple of days(good running weather!) but this weekend is looking much better so hopefully you will be able to get out and enjoy the city! Try to get a run in along the Charles River.
I never, ever check bags. I love to just get of the plane and go to ground transport. I travel for work so have become quite the streamlined packer. Good luck!
Kristilyn
August 12, 2009 at 4:24 pmWe don’t have Target in Canada and I’ve only been in it once in the States. LOVED it! I could spend hours there! Much better quality items than Wal Mart, in my opinion.
Your sandwich looks delicious! Have an awesome trip!

August 12, 2009 at 4:37 pmhaha…you made my chuckle when you mentioned Target. I’ll go in there for the simplest thing…like conditioner…and I always walk out with some sort of new clothing article. So now I have to quickly walk by the clothes with my eyes closed in order to by pass any temptations. Good luck with your speech!

August 12, 2009 at 5:07 pmI just tweeted this weekend about going into Target for one thing and coming out $100 in the hole and only 20 minutes later. I get it. But that place is like crack– I can’t quit.
Have a safe trip and good luck with the Summit!

August 12, 2009 at 5:22 pmCareful re restrictions on liquids, drinks,jams/jellies etc…..my poor sis had some lovely gifts confiscated at the airport including yummy horseradish jelly,a specialty cranberry liquor, etc
Just warning in case…ya don’t want to lose your shampoo/lotion/fooody items before the summit!
BON VOYAGE!!!!!!!
My sleep has always been rough whenever going through the emotions of a breakup……do take loving care of yourself though!!

August 12, 2009 at 5:32 pmI know, I can’t believe how expensive it is to check a bag these days!! I hope the airline industry recovers soon because it’s making travel less and less fun :O(
Joelle (The Pancake Girl))
August 12, 2009 at 5:56 pmI hate have lots of bags at the airport, but I always get so nervous they’re going to lose something of mine! Have a good flight to Beantown!
Nicole
August 12, 2009 at 6:00 pmI should be banned from Target at well, in addition to Trader Joe’s. I go crazy in both those places every.single.time. The biscotti look incredible btw 🙂 See you soon!
Sarah
August 12, 2009 at 6:46 pmANYTIME I walk into a Target, grocery store, etc. I walk out with waaaay more than I intended. I think I need a shopping chaperone to keep my spending in check!
