Hi guys!
This afternoon I went for a nice long run—just about 5 miles actually! Sunday will always be my “long run” day because I requested to have most Sundays (except for maybe once a month or something when they need me) off from work. I haven’t “officially” started my half-marathon training but I will be in about three weeks so I want to be ready! The run was good….my shin, though uncomfortable, was better than my last run so that’s good at least! I also burned a ton of calories so maybe that’s why I have been so starving all day—my body has been preparing itself! 🙂 After running and sat and dangled my legs in the cool pool water for about 15 minutes and it felt soooo gooooood. Tomorrow I’ll put another tiger balm patch on and hope for the best!
Before my run I snacked on a rather thick slice of pumpkin bread with almond butter:
And when I got back it was around dinner time and I was craaaaving pizza so I used my other pizza crust that I got last week and made my own personal cheese pizza with part skim mozzarella and a sprinkle of goat cheese. Betty also made me a FAB spinach salad with crispy bacon, red onion and dried cranberries!
I also had a tiny glass of red wine with dinner—Beaujolais, my favorite!
And had this delicious rice krispie bar for dessert:
So tomorrow is back at the grind! I’ve got lunch packed, fresh sheets on my bed, clean uniforms and a new thermometer for my chef coat pocket. I’m ready to roll! haha 🙂
Have a wonderful evening and morning tomorrow guys! I’ll report back with more goodies in the afternoon! 🙂

October 12, 2008 at 11:23 pmGlad your run was good; but be careful with your shin!
Pumpkin bread with almond-butter = pure bliss.

October 12, 2008 at 11:28 pmAs you start your half marathon training, try ice baths after long runs. You don’t need a TON of ice (I usually just use horribly cold water and a bowlful of ice) but as long as your entire lower body is covered, you’re good. It does WONDERS for your lower body, and I bet it would help your shin!

October 12, 2008 at 11:29 pmThat pumpkin bread looks fabulous! Especially with all that ooey-gooey almond butter. Isn’t fall the best? 🙂
Hope your day goes well tomorrow!

October 12, 2008 at 11:31 pmhi Jenna! Love your blog, I always say that but I do. You seem like such a genuinely sweet girl. Do you still see Ryan? I know he is your “main squeeze” but you haven’t mentioned him much lately, but I’m sure your busy schedule makes it hard to plan time together!
Enjoy this beautiful night. Up here in Indiana it’s chilly but gorgeous. Actually today it was rather hot, still wearing shorts. That is a huge deal when all our kids have to wear winter coats over their halloween outfits to trick or treat. ha.

October 13, 2008 at 12:04 amPolly,
I sure hope he’s my main squeeze since every one of my earthly belongings + my cat are now at his apartment just waiting for me to move back!!! 😉 Ryan’s doing fine. As fine as one can be with this market crisis! I’ve asked for the weekend off the following weekend and am going home to see him! We knew we wouldn’t see eachother much these 3 months but we have been doing long distance now for 2 1/2 YEARS (when I lived in South Carolina and he lived in Tampa) so this is nothing for us. Haha it will be nice to actually live in the same city for a change though! I can’t take many days off work since every hour is considered a class credit and it’s like skipping class. I need a certain amount to graduate. It’ll be coming to an end soon though!

October 13, 2008 at 12:07 amSounds like you had a lovely Sunday Jenna.
I actually have a question regarding bagels. I made some a few weeks ago but what I actually want to do is make pumpkin bagels. How would you suggest I go about this? Would I replace some of the water in the dough with pumpkin puree etc? I can’t find a recipe anywhere! I’d appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

October 13, 2008 at 10:09 amLeah,
The race is on March 1st so I have a TON of time. I’m not going to “officially” begin training for another 3 weeks or so until I feel 100% ready.
Becca A,
That I do not know…it might be tricky. I’ll ask Adam today at work and get back to you! He should know!

October 13, 2008 at 2:38 pmGlad you had a good run! Great idea with the pool soak afterwards- I read all of these running magazines that recommend ice baths after long runs… that just sounds painful!
Mmm… pumpkin bread 🙂

October 13, 2008 at 3:45 pmHey Jenna! I’ve read your blog for awhile, but this is my first time ever commenting. I just wondered if you’ve heard of mona vie yet? It’s this awesome fruit blend that is so good for you with all natural ingredients. 4 oz of the stuff has the same antioxidant amount as 10-13 servings of fruit! It’s got like 19 fruits (including the acai berry) from all over the world. just curious if you have any interest in trying it, or if you’d be interested in more information. has anybody else tried it? I love it!

I have never heard of that! It sounds interesting though—I’ll be on the lookout!
Tracie,
I found these at my local grocery store (publix) but I KNOW whole foods sells them! They rock!

I had a friend that sold this for a while but she ended up stopping because she said it was a bunch of bs. I have never tried it myself and she’s not exactly a health expert so it may be better then she thought it was but she said she researched it more and its really no better then some pomegranate or blueberry juice but they charge an arm and a leg for it. I would be curious to find out more about it though! Can I ask, does it actually make you feel better or do you just like the taste?

October 13, 2008 at 11:02 pmPizza looks great! How’d you make the crust?
PS: Love your site!
jenna
October 13, 2008 at 11:07 pmAmanda,
Hahaha I def. did not make that crust. I bought it from Publix. The brand is “Old World Pizza Crust” and they are all natural with no preservatives or anything. I love ’em!
