Happy Humpday!
Mannnnn if you are wondering why my breakfast post is late its because I slept late! That’s right…..Miss Early Bird didn’t rise until 9:15 this morning!!!!!!! How crazy is THAT?! I have been sleeping with this sleep mask on that blocks out all light and I think that might be the culprit. I’m glad though because I wanted to sleep as late as possible today since orientation is going to go until 11:30 tonight and then tomorrow I have my surgery at 8 am.
When I finally greeted the world, I made eggies for breakfast. 2 scrambled eggs with a walnut roll spread with preserves and an orange—
Isn’t my plate cute?? I got it for $1.99 at this adorable boutique called Target yesterday. Love that place.
Coffee—-
It looks like I should be on vacation but sadly I am not. Oh well. Vacation state of mind I guess. 🙂
Plan for the day is to go to a yoga class from 12-1:30, eat lunch, shower and then orientation again at 4:00. Not terribly exciting but at least I’m getting paid to be there!
I’ll be back after lunch—have a lovely day!

January 7, 2009 at 9:03 amHey Jenna! Just wanted to let you know that I bought all three of Diana Gabaldon’s Lord John books after Christmas. The first started off a little slow but overall was good. I’m halfway through the second and really enjoying it. Also, there is an excerpt in each from the next book in the Outlander series which totally makes it worth it.

January 7, 2009 at 9:30 amJust out of curiosity — how did you get into yoga in the first place? I went to a free class at college (as part of a post-Sept. 11 student outreach program) and can’t get enough since then.
have a great day!

January 7, 2009 at 10:14 amFitforfree,
Hmm….well when I was in high school back in 2000, I started doing a yoga dvd a couple times a week but it was nothing serious and when I went away to college I didn’t start back up at all. Then, in 2004 I was have a hard time and suffered from depression so badly that I came home from school and spent a semester living at home and working full time. It was then when I started going to a yoga studio to find some sort of release from the anxiety and depression that I was feeling and I became hooked. After starting to practice regularly, my depression became non-existent and I was feeling better than I ever had in my life. I transferred colleges to College of Charleston and got really involved in my local yoga studio there and started attending classes 5-6 times a week. And that’s how its been since then! 🙂

January 7, 2009 at 9:58 amI just got back from yoga, it was amazing! do you know why yoga classes are so long?
jenna
January 7, 2009 at 10:05 amSeelivelee,
It’s just tradition that yoga classes usually are 90 minutes in length. I guess it takes that much time for the body to truly generate warmth and get into some of the postures.

January 7, 2009 at 10:21 amJust wanted to say thanks for getting the yoga bug started in me too! I’ve done a little of it before, but now I’ve tried a couple different videos and a yoga download and am really starting to like it! 🙂

January 7, 2009 at 10:29 amHi Jenna,
Let me just say that I love your blog! I had a few questions about yoga: I have been dying to start practicing yoga lately and am not sure which yoga I should get into..or how to go about it. The only yoga I have done is yoga from a “Yoga for Beginners” DVD I bought last summer. I feel I have mastered this DVD and am ready for something different. Id like to find a yoga that helps with balance and toning..any suggestions? should I join a class right off the bat, or practice poses and then join? Thanks for the input! Keep up the good work!

January 7, 2009 at 11:10 amHey Jenna, I was just wondering if you calculated the nutritional content for your rolls as I was thinking of making similar ones, thanks!

January 7, 2009 at 11:29 amHey Jenna, I just wanted to say that after your post about getting a Vitamix, I asked for one for Christmas from my boyfriend (he got me a TV that we returned)! I am so excited to use it and get ideas from you.
Also, I love that you are getting back into yoga regularly because I too have let my practice lapse. I hope to start doing it regularly again and seeing you do it makes me want to do it even more!

January 7, 2009 at 11:44 amJenna,
Thanks for sharing a little regarding suffering from depression and anxiety and how yoga was able to help. I am recovering from an eating disorder and would really love to completely turn to yoga to help me heal, but I can’t get away from the idea that I need to do cardio (I am out of college and working so it would be hard to fit both in regularly). Would you mind sharing, maybe in a post, a little more detail about what you went through and how you continue to cope?
Thanks,
Amanda

January 7, 2009 at 12:49 pmHi Jenna-
Just wanted to say thanks again for all of the yoga inspiration (looks like I am not the only one!) Lately I have been doing yoga in my living room, but your blog has inspired me to try a class – I haven’t been to one since college. For any of your Boston readers, there is $5 community class at BackBay yoga that I am trying tonight! Thanks again Jenna!
