Morning!
Of course I couldn’t sleep last night because I was too excited about my trip today! I don’t think I fell asleep until 12:30 so I nixed the alarm (set for 5:45 to Shred before getting ready) and just woke up at 6:45 instead. I think I was crazy when I thought I would Shred this morning. Um no.
Last night before bed I sort of felt like my throat was getting a little scratchy and I just CANNOT have that right now so I immediately took action—-
Good ol’ Amazing Grass! I mixed this in a small cup of orange juice and chugged, chugged, chugged. This morning, no scratchy throat!
To rejuvinate me for my long drive this morning I made yet another powerful Green Monster using the same combination as yesterday—1 frozen banana, 4 cups organic spinach, 1 scoop Sun Warrior, 1 scoop raw almond butter and 1 cup almond milk.
I swear, this concoction has done WONDERS to my skin!
I’ve already packed a lunch to take on the road since I won’t be getting in until around 2:00 today. We don’t really have plans for the rest of the day (or the weekend for that matter) except just to relax and hang out. I can’t wait to be back!
Click here to read my latest Creative Loafing post on Yerba Mate tea!
And, of course, I’ll be twittering like a mad man! I think downloading Twitterberry on my blackberry might have been a bad, bad mistake 😉
See you down South!

Really, if green smoothies are the trick, im jumping on the band wagon!
Katherine
May 28, 2009 at 5:55 amI made almost the same Green Monster this morning! I added kale and cucumber, but didn’t have any protein powder – so tasty! Have a great time and enjoy your drive!!

May 28, 2009 at 6:51 amSeriously Jenna, your skin looks AMAZING. I mean, besides these green monsters (which I am officially trying TODAY) how do you do it?? What soaps/scrubs/magical drugs do you use??? You’re the best model for these smoothies!!
brandi
May 28, 2009 at 6:52 amHave a fun and safe trip! Your skin does look amazing! I need to get back on the green smoothies. I think it’s time to invest in some almond milk since I’ve never tried it, either.

May 28, 2009 at 7:01 amYour skin looks AMAZING!!!!! My goodness I’m jealous haha. Since it’s getting warmer I really need to buck up and try a Green Monster smoothie. Does the addition of protein powder and AB help you stay satisfied long enough? I always feel that I would be starving shortly after drinking one for bfast. Have a marvelous drive! I am planning on watching The Reader this weekend!

May 28, 2009 at 7:06 amI’m glad your scratchy throat went away!

Twitter is dangerous! I have it on my phone too and get updates from certain people, and update it with what I am doing, responses to people, its out of control!
Kristin @ Iowa Girl Eats
May 28, 2009 at 7:13 amOk, all you had to do was say that shake is good for your skin – seriously I was admiring yours before I even read that!! Perhaps it’s time I gave the GM a try!? Drive safe!

May 28, 2009 at 9:04 amI want to know too! What else do you do for your skin besides the smoothies?
I’m wondering what you think it is in the smoothie that helps your skin… because it all seems kind of like standard things I’d eat in a day– except for maybe the protein powder?? Any thoughts??
Thanks, and have a WONDERFUL weekend!
Kristi (sweetcheeks)

May 28, 2009 at 9:11 amIf you are make-up free in that pic, then it’s totally unfair for any girl to be that pretty!!! 🙂

May 28, 2009 at 9:42 amHey Jenna, I just love your blog and read it everyday. Have fun here in Charleston! Spoleto is still going on this weekend so there will be a TON of stuff to do (music, art, tea time, comedy improv, farmers market, etc) The weather should also be fantastic with only a slight chance of rain on Saturday. Oh, and just FYI a new “fro-yo” place just opened up not too long ago called FreshBerry. It is on George St. at King St. if you need a sweet fix!

May 28, 2009 at 12:55 pmI agree, your skin looks amazing. Would you consider posting your skin care regimen? My skin has just gotten progressively worse through my late 20’s and now into the 30’s. It’s so disheartening!

I hopped on the green monster band wagon starting a couple of weeks ago too – how long did it take you before you saw a difference?? And what else are you doing, girl?? Because you are GLOWING!

May 31, 2009 at 11:02 amThe beginning of your post totally made me laugh! My boyfriend and I just went on a trip to NYC, and the drive was about 8 hours long. We also thought we’d wake up early and do the Shred. Not so much 😛
