Dessert/ Lunch

A Gussied Up Dog

Good day! πŸ™‚

I think I always underestimate how long it takes to get to the gym on bike! Well, its really not far at all but I seem to have the slowest bike known to man and the whole trip is basically uphill. Hmmmmm

Once I was finally at the gym I followed doctor’s orders and WALKED a nice, slow two miles on the treadmill. Oh man, I wanted to bump up the speed more than anything.….or at least the resistance! However, I chatted with a friend the whole time and it made the miles “fly by” (well almost). Happy to report there was zero pain though. My Doc said that if I felt pain-free I could slowly start doing short jogging intervals in the middle of my walk so I might do that either tomorrow or the next day!

When I got home I was surprised to see how dirty I had gotten???!! I seriously don’t know how that happened. I guess I must have rubbed up against something while putting my bike away downstairs.

I’m a Class A mess!

Surprisingly I really was not hungry AT ALL so I waited away, showered and got ready before making lunch. On the menu today was a gourmet soy dog sandwich with avocado, hot sauce and tomato with a side of melon and cherries

Oh yes, I am very classy like that.

It was actually quite delicious!

But then a national disaster struck when I realized I was out of organic dark chocolate for dessert. I calmed down though once I remembered the secret stash of crack Newmans-O’s mint “oreos”—-

Thank you, Paul! You saved the day.

I’m super excited to attend Fleming’s “5 for 6 till 7” tonight. Lots of yummy appetizers and good drinkies to come my way! I will report back this evening as to how it goes but, as always, follow me on Twitter!

Have a lovely afternoon!

Be glad the gym is uphill from your house rather than the other way around! Our apartment is uphill from work and the gym (and everything else). There’s nothing like pedaling up that hill after a good leg workout…

    Hope you have fun tonight.

I have a question for all those yoga lovers out there. I posted this on the morning post but I think I posted it right before the lunch post went up.

I usually do power yoga and absolutely love it-but my sister is coming into town next week and wants to go to a Moksha class (which from the website I’m gathering it’s another form of Bikram?). However, I tried Bikram yoga once before and HATED it. The room made me feel like I was dying and I couldn’t breathe deep enough and afterwards I felt really tired and nauseous for the rest of the day. So I’ve agreed to go to this Moksha class with my sister (I figure I should try it at least once more and hope that maybe the first time was a fluke). I don’t want to end up feeling the way I did after my first experience with hot yoga- so what’s the best way to prep for a hot yoga class?

Any recommendations or suggestions would be amazing! Thanks

I love Newman’s Own cookies! Have you tried Trader Joe’s righteous rounds? They are some addictive little cookies, but at least broccoli is listed as one of the ingredients!

Ha! That happens to me too! When I ride my bike I ALWAYS lean on my bike cables and get grease all over my legs! I’ll get home and sit on my couch and bed and everywhere before I’ve realized that I have bike grease all over me! My boyfriend thinks it’s hilarious

good job following the doctors orders on the workout – i know that has to be hard, but it will be better in the long run.

I can’t wait to see everything from this event tonight! It sounds like a lot of fun.

    Sarah F –
While I haven’t done Bikram myself, it sounds like you were overly dehydrated afterwards (causing you to be nauseous?). I know that if I go to a power class and haven’t had enough water, I spend most of the time in child’s pose because I feel nauseous. If your sister really wants to do it, maybe you could extra hydrate for a day or so before so there’s more to sweat out? And make sure you drink lots during and after!

Yay for no shin pain! That is so wonderful to hear.

Hope you are able to accomplish your intervals tomorrow, but be sure to take it slow. You wouldn’t want to reverse any of the healing you’ve done so far.

I love the lunch sammie, it’s like an adult version of a kid’s classic! Perfect!

Take care and hope you have fun tonight.
