Bummin’ It and Dinner-To-Go

Hi everyone—It’s only 3:15 but I’m going to leave for school in about 45 minutes so I wanted to post my meals and snacks now.

I’ve been a huge lazy bum all day long. It’s gorgeous outside and now that I think about it, I should have laid out by the pool, but instead I’ve been reading my book on the couch in my sweats. Oh well.

I made my favorite snack though—almond butter & jam on half an Ezekiel english muffin:

And for a dinner-to-go, I made more baked tofu (rubbed with a mix of rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic powder, agave nectar, salt and red pepper flakes and baked at 425 for 25 minutes) and packed it along with sweet potato fries, sliced kiwi and string cheese. A Key Lime Pie larabar for a snack tonight! 🙂

I’m already looking forward to the long weekend ahead and it’s only Monday! ahh! Hope yall have a great night and I will see you bright and early in the a.m.!

I agree, you are the farthest thing I *know* from a lazy bum. And besides that, everyone deserves a little rest every now and then!

Hi Jenna (and other yoga/pilates enthusiasts out there!!)

Have you ever tried Mari Winsor’s Pilates DVDs?? i think you’d really enjoy them! They’re about 20-25 min, and come in workouts such as “Bun and Thighs”, “Abs”, “Upper Body Sculpting”. My favorite is the “Advanced”, which covers all her signature moves- like the sidekick series and teasers. A great quick workout to get moving in the morning!

I’m curious…how many calories do you think a 20-25 min pilates or yoga workout would burn? i totally believe exercising isn’t solely about burning calories, but i’m just curious as to how slow/stretching/flexibility exercise routines compare to cardio, like running 2 miles or something.

thanks for your help everyone!! keep up the great work Jenna. 🙂

It’s good to be a lazy bum every now and again! I certainly have been today- I suppose it is because I have “vacation brain” lol…
I’m gonna try that tofu. I used to really not like tofu (when i was vegan) but I decided to give it another try because i really want to like it. So i bought some in my weekly grocery adventure this week. The baked tofu looks simple and tastey! Hope you are enjoying your 7 hrs of class!

Hey Jenna, could you give the proportions for the marinade for the baked tofu–or do you just splash it together? looks so good!

    Bethina,

I basically just splash it all together—a little more vinegar than sesame oil and just a small glob of agave nectar. I use a ton of red pepper flakes because I like the heat!

    Jessica,

I have never tried those dvds but they look like something worth checking out! I have no idea really how many calories 20 minutes of yoga would burn..I don’t think just 20 minutes of any exercise is going to give you a max calorie burn (unless its spinning?). One time just for giggles I wore my HRM to a ashtanga yoga class like last year and in the hour and a half that I was there I burned 300 calories. Apparently in bikram you burn about 600 as well.
