Whew!
Barrel Tasting 2010 is now OVER!!!!!!

Despite exhaustion, overall the past two weekends have been a blast. Working at the winery doesn’t really seem like “work”, mainly because we just blast 90’s dance music and bust sweet moves (or maybe that was just me?).I’m beat though…and have a lot of writing to get done tonight.
I slept AWFUL last night, and as a result, felt pretty icky this morning. Nothing a Green Monster can’t fix!

I used 1 frozen banana, 1 scoop chocolate Amazing Meal, a TON of spinach, 1 tsp maca, 1 T peanut butter, 1 cup 1% milk and some ice.
This ninja concoction actually kept me full for hours until I took my lunch break and chowed down on the salad I brought from home.

I used: spinach, a carrot, 1/4th of an avocado and 1/2 cup prepared beans (a mix of navy, black and white beans from Trader Joe’s). Over top I drizzled balsamic vinegar and I also had an apple on the side.
Snack:

I’m not kidding when I say it was literally a dance party all day. We had Pandora club mix on and referred to the tasting room as “Retail Rave”. I think the customers loved it, as well as our sweet dancing skills. I think we should rename the winery to Club Schlumberger, myself.

I had a splash of our 1991 reserve cab after work and also a little bubbly. It was a really good day!
For some reason breakfast for Sunday dinner just works.

2 pieces of french toast with a morningstar farms sausage. For the french toast I used 1 egg + 1 egg white, a splash of milk and some vanilla extract and then drizzled pure maple syrup over everything.
Dessert:

I’m about to make some tea and get to WORK! I’ve got a lot to get done with week (book + taxes) and then will introduce a special guest star back on the blog come weekend. π

March 14, 2010 at 7:11 pmI LOVE breakfast for dinner! Need to do it more often π
Great to hear you enjoyed working at the winery despite the awful sleep. I bet the daylight savings time didn’t help much either (my morning yoga class was totally exhausting!)
Have a good night!

March 14, 2010 at 8:30 pmI actually find that if you use more milk than egg and you toast the bread first, it soaks up more liquid and gets a more custardy consistency. Alton Brown has a good recipe.
Yours looks great as well though!!

March 14, 2010 at 8:44 pmI’m a new reader and just thought I’d let you know that I love your ‘everything in moderation’ outlook. I eat healthy most of the time, but like to have a treat now and then. Its refreshing to see someone that lives a healthy lifestyle but still enjoys good food and wine without feeling guilty!
ps. I’m jealous of your dessert! I’m from Canada and I can’t find greek yogurt ANYWHERE. haha I’ve searched every grocery store in the town where I’m from without any luck. Hopefully it’s coming soon!

March 14, 2010 at 11:24 pmI had baby spinach salad and yogurt today too….my main diet staples. Looks fun at the winery! I looked up recipe for Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Jalapenos. nearly 700 calories 83% saturated fat high sodium etc. each. Very high in protein 15 g per. I’m going to find a better cheese to stuff so healthier, and use smaller pepper like Anaheim. But here is original recipe. http://tinyurl.com/oe4ezq

March 17, 2010 at 7:47 pmThat green monster sounds so good I’m going to make it tomorrow. I went out and bought a couple single serve chocolate amazing grass packets – do you rep for them? I figured I’d try it (single serves) before spending the bucks to buy the whole jar.
