Helloooo!
Hope everyone’s labor day weekend is treating them well. I’m still in Texas…we had a bit of a medical emergency over here (we’re all fine–just a round of kidney stones) so I haven’t been at my computer much in the past two days. I HAVE been driving all over the state of Texas and eating pretty much every taco in sight. You know how it goes.
I promise to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, enjoy these lovely East Texas sunset photos and pray for the best. We’re trying to get back to California but between the weather and the kidney stones, it’s proving a little tough.

September 6, 2010 at 12:54 pmWhy would you only associate Texas with Tacos, like that is the only thing to eat in Texas? There is so much more to chose from, and with you in Austin there is definetely more than just tacos, which is all you have talked about for the last 4 days.

September 6, 2010 at 4:02 pmOh man, kidney stones are THE WORST. I got them during class my second week of college – embarrassing. All the nurses were like, “Well, at least you know what kind of pain you’ll be in when you’re in labor! HAHA!” Ugh.
Hope whoever had them is okay and passes soon!

September 6, 2010 at 6:54 pmI am so sorry to hear that someone is dealing with kidney stones. My husband had one in July and it was the scariest thing ever. He was in so. much. pain. He went to the ER twice in one in a half to two days.
Only one pain med helped him. It was called Dilaudid and he had two doses of it each time and I have been told that it is a very strong narcotic. When he went to the ER the second time the doctor gave him a steroid. I am not sure which one they gave him, but a hour later the stone passed. Thank goodness! I really think the steroid is what caused it to pass quickly. The doctor and nurses wanted to admit him because he was in so much pain and they did not think it would pass for another day or two.
Also the narcotics that they give for pain can cause constipation. My husband was fine after one dose of Metamucil. (check the ingredients, some of them contain artificial sweeteners)
Good luck and I hope the person feels better soon.

September 6, 2010 at 11:31 pmI wish you well!! Or who ever it is w/ the kidney stones. I had one once when I was 22. I thought I was dying. I also had a baby and had a 100% natural no drugs involved childbirth. I would say that those 2 things rank right up there on the highest levels of pain I’ve ever had. Sending healing vibes!! 🙂
