Good morning!
Praise God, I am feeling sooooooo much better today. Not that I was “technically” sick, but post-surgery is no dang fun. Much to my surprise, since I did nothing but sleep all day yesterday, I fell asleep within 2 minutes last night and slept through the night well. This morning I made a cup of this (and let it cool to barely warm first so that I could drink it):
That’s right—-no coffee for me, as I intend to detox every thing out in the next couple days. Detox is sort of a confusing word, it does not necessarily mean to “fast” but here’s a little bit out of an email I got from Kishan telling us how to prepare for the weekend—-
“Please follow a simple vegetarian diet for the rest of the week composed mainly of lentils like mung beans, white basmati rice and cooked vegetables.
• Use seasonal vegetables, ideally organic. Artichoke, arugula, asparagus, beets, bell peppers, bitter melon, bok choy, broccoli, carrots, celery, chili peppers, chives, cilantro, collards, corn, endive, fennel, green beans, green chilies, kale, kohlrabi, landcress, leafy greens, lettuce, leeks, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, peppers (hot), radish, rutabaga, scallions, shallots, spinach, sprouts, turnips, watercress, wheat grass.
• Grains such as basmati rice, barley, couscous, and quinoa.
• Beans and Lentils such as Black beans, black-eyed peas, chick peas, lentils, lima beans, mung beans, mung dal, peas, pinto beans, tur dal, white beans.
• Add some warming spices (in moderation) to your foods like turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper, pink rock salt, chili powder.”
This tea is pretty good…..a little warming but not overly spicy. I enjoyed a big mug with stevia for a little more sweetness. I’ll probably be drinking a few of these today and over the weekend.
And then my mommy made me my first solid food! Poached eggs on Arnold’s double protein toast with a banana.
It tasted exquisite to me. The soft yolks exploding over the toast to make everything delightfully mushy. I smashed the banana with my fork and was able to get that down as well. When you haven’t had solid food in 24 hours, ANYTHING tastes good, let me tell you!
Today I’m just laying low again until yoga at 6. I have a few errands to run to get my uniform stuff for work and then I plan to just come back home, watch a movie and rest for a few hours.
Happy Friday1

Yogi is my FAVORITE brand of tea! Their Egyptian Licorice flavor is my favorite (and I usually hate black licorice). Its for comfort.

January 9, 2009 at 9:27 amGlad you’re feeling better!! Your bfast reminded me of something my dad used to make us called “lighthouses” — you poke a hole through the bread and fry an egg underneath so it looks like just the yolk poking through. Delicious.
