Breakfast

Missing The Boat

Morning!

Well, we sort of missed the Bikram boat this morning. Actually, we woke up ridiculously early but didn’t feel like driving 20 minutes to get to the class. Call us lazy. Or, actually, call ME lazy. Anne actually is out on a run right now while I am just laying in bed. Six days of yoga last week was enough for me. Time to rest.

But how cool is my new t-shirt?! It says “If found on the ground, please drag to the finish line”. Thank you, santa! 🙂
For breakfast, I made Anne ELR oatmeal and I had a toasted ezekiel muffin with almond butter and jam. I decided to save that apple for later!

I woke up this morning with a pretty bad sore throat. Not really too thrilled about that. I haven’t had a cold in a looooong time and I’m really hoping I can ward this off before it becomes anything major, tomorrow being New Years Eve and all.
Have a great day everyone!

Aww, Jenna! Hopefully you can nip this potential cold in the bud. Eat a lot of fresh oranges (shouldn’t be difficult to find in CA), and rest up!

The shirt is pretty cute, gotta say!

Himalayan salt water gargles, lots of hot lemon water, fresh squeezed orange juice, a neti pot (highly recommend) and steam your face with lemon water…oh and hot sauce on the food! I ward off colds in no time flat.

I am always worried about getting sick before fun holidays (like NYE!), but usually the sore throat passes without too much trouble. Keep on doin’ what you’re doin’ – resting, drinking a lot of fluids, etc. Feel better!

Oy…here’s my (unsolicited) don’t-get-sick arsenal. It sounds like a lot but when I pull it out I always feel back to 100% the next day!

-super greens (you got this one covered). Ideally 2-3 servings throughout the day.

-a big vegetable juice with lots of kale (alternatively, a green smoothie with berries and kale)

-spicy Asian style soup with garlic, turmeric, ginger, and cayenne (I swear by this spice mixture…usually I just make an easy brothy soup with rice noodles, broccoli, and lots of spices)

-Kombucha (one of the rare times I will buy it is when I’m feeling sick!)

-a 20 minute soak in a HOT bath with 1/2 bottle of hydrogen peroxide and two cups of epsom salts added. This is the key. I swear by this one. Hot soak, wool socks, and to bed.

Hope it passes quickly so you can fully enjoy your visit!!

I hope you don’t get sick. Sometimes I find that Bikram can give me a sore throat. It goes away usually within a day or two at the most and never develops into much. I chalk it up to all the junk that’s coming out of my body. Well, that, or I was breathing through my mouth waaaaayyyy too much in my previous yoga session. Love the T-Shirt.

Oooh hope you can stop your cold before it gets worse! Lots of greens and hot teas, that will fix you up in no time. It’s probably a good thing you took a rest day from yoga, it’ll give your body time for rest and repair. That is always a good thing!

I haven’t been full fledged sick since going vegan several years ago, but whenever I feel a bit groggy like something MIGHT be coming around the corner, I always make sure to get lots of sunshine (easy here in Saudi Arabia), rest, and eat tons of oranges. And chocolate. 😉

Funny story – I totally had a dream about you last night Jenna! I dreamt that you were a bartender and I ordered a Guiness, and you kept forgetting to bring it to me. And I got really pissed and started telling you what a terrible bartender you are. And then you made me a tall glass of carrot juice with liquor in it… so not the same thing as a Guiness.

Sore Throat, ugh! Echinacea Tea has preformed miracles for me at the start of something. If don’t have ‘Prescription for Nutritional Healing’ that’s excellent for remedies for anything. Hope it goes away! BTW-I am helping to spread this vid ‘Everybody Hurts’ that has been viewed 500K+ times. Very powerful before NYE. http://tinyurl.com/oe4ezq
