I hope everyone is having a productive Thursday so far. First of all, let me tell you….that oatmeal creation in the almond butter jar kept me full for FIVE HOURS this morning! As in, so full I waited almost three hours to go running and then even after I ran I still wasn’t hungry! There must have been more nut butter in the jar than I thought 😉
So, yes, I ran my two miles on the treadmill while watching The Food Network (I love thee) and then headed to my parent’s house to catch-up and eat their food. Yes, I am that child that lives two miles from my parents and still goes and raids their fridge. Totally normal.
I dug deep into the fridge and came up with a turkey cheese and honey mustard sandwich on a ww arnold’s sandwich thin (they looove these), a half cup of Fage 2% with berries and some Rainier cherries on the side!
The cherries were two for one at the store (!!) so my mom gave me the other big container, as well as this interesting “pet food” for Dexter!
I guess its some sort of organic wheat grass-ish “grass” for pets….all pets really! Dexter totally went to town on it and then when he was done eating, he passed out on top of it and now is snoring away. Hmmmmm 😉
Rumor has it there’s a free showing of Food, Inc this evening at the Tampa Theatre at 7:30. I’m still trying to figure out how to go about getting tickets for that and hoping it’s true! I have been very excited to see the movie and now even more so because…its free!
Hoping everyone has a great afternoon—I have oodles of emails to catch up on!

Hope you get tickets for Food, Inc. I can’t wait to see it!

Gotta love raiding the parents’ fridge. haha…:D I’ve never tried ranier cherries, but I’ve always wanted to. Are they more sour then the bing cherries??
Dexter looks like he’s having a field day with the grass! 😀
LeiannaJuly 30, 2009 at 1:54 pm
I love the kitty grass, I grow my own at my parents house! They love it and it keeps them away from all my other plants that get them sick:)
AngharadJuly 30, 2009 at 2:07 pm
Oooh raiding the parents fridge is the BEST! Dexter looks hilarious passed out! Hmmmm…grass, eh? Need to try some of that love-in-a-jar brekkie too…

HollyJuly 30, 2009 at 2:11 pm
Hey Jenna! Great looking lunch. Just wanted to mention, that if it’s the Qdoba sponsored showing, I went to the one in NYC and there were no tickets involved…you just show up, although seating was limited and I’d get there EARLY! The place was totally packed and we had to sit in the front row, haha. Enjoy! 🙂
Megan (The Runner's Kitchen)July 30, 2009 at 2:31 pm
I love watching Food Network in the gym. Once someone came up to me and said “How can you watch that while running? Looking at all that yummy food makes me SO hungry!” I use the shows for post-run fueling inspiration 🙂
KatherineJuly 30, 2009 at 2:37 pm
Hahaha I would definitely raid my parents fridge if I lived close by!!! That’s what kids are for right?
Denise (apple hill adventurer)July 30, 2009 at 3:00 pm

Food, Inc. is a great movie! I saw it a couple of weeks ago with my husband. It is thought-provoking, disturbing and well done. (I was mostly organic before seeing this and have been voting with my dollars ever since by buying only organic. I’m also eating mostly vegetarian since seeing it.) You will love it. It promotes conscious eating like you do.

MariaJuly 30, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Hehe, sounds like Dexter enjoys organic food too 😉
Wow, the oats in a jar thing is amazing! Healthy fats usually keep me full for that long too 🙂
Mary (Food & Fun)July 30, 2009 at 3:44 pm

JacklynnJuly 30, 2009 at 3:49 pm
Yes! You can view Food Inc. thanks to Chipotle, I was just on Food Inc website and saw an icon for Chipotle, view free! clicked on it and sure enough I could have viewed it a week ago…but check it out can’t wait to hear what you think I have been wanting to see it for a while now!
EveJuly 30, 2009 at 4:06 pm
I really want to see Food Inc, I hope you get to see it!
CallinaJuly 30, 2009 at 4:20 pm
Food Inc. is great!! It does a really good job of laying out all the issues with conventionally-produced food. You also made me want oatmeal really bad.
ChloeJuly 30, 2009 at 4:34 pm
I am a huge proponent of raiding parent’s fridge. I live a couple miles away and always go there hungry because I know I’ll find something good!
Kitt’s eating grass is so cute, and yet kinda odd. Gotta love weird cat habits!
kaileyJuly 30, 2009 at 4:34 pm
gotta love oats in a jar! super filling 🙂
wow those cherries look so fresh and delicious!
allijagJuly 30, 2009 at 4:39 pm
Love the lunch presentation – it’s exceptionally beautiful!
Dexter is too funny this week! 🙂
RoseJuly 30, 2009 at 4:50 pm
We were thinking about getting some grass for Scone too (that sounds weird). He’s eaten most of our plants, and now we have to keep them super high up so he doesn’t eat them!
Maybe I’ll have to invest?
JBJuly 30, 2009 at 4:57 pm
i really want to see food, inc!!! and my mom bought one of those grass things for my cat too, haha. he loves it.
sherriJuly 30, 2009 at 5:01 pm
my kitty loves wheatgrass and raw spinach leaves, too! he runs into the kitchen every time i open the produce drawer. i’ve even made him his own green monster with spinach, ice cubes and a splash of milk!
JessicaJuly 30, 2009 at 5:02 pm

Heather @ Health, Happiness, and HopeJuly 30, 2009 at 5:06 pm

Annie D.July 30, 2009 at 5:10 pm
I hope you get to go to the movie. It’s really impactful!!!
ColleenJuly 30, 2009 at 5:53 pm
Even if you can’t get the free tickets, still plan to go see Food, Inc anyway – it’s that good. Kind of like preaching to the choir, but still a good reminder and helps give us more explanation and evidence of why it’s so important to consider what you eat.
RebeccaJuly 30, 2009 at 6:34 pm
OMG your cat is adorable!! I love Arnold Sandwich Thins!! They sent me a bunch of coupons so I’ve been eating them like crazy for the past couple months!!
Hope you get free tickets for Food, Inc! The movie was awesome!
Andee (Runtolive)July 30, 2009 at 6:35 pm

Mmmmmm, you just inspired to go downstairs and raid my own fridge for some cherries!
SusanJuly 30, 2009 at 7:42 pm
My grocery store had a sale on Rainier cherries too. Do they taste any different that the normal ones?
DevaJuly 30, 2009 at 8:04 pm
oats + nut butter keeps me going forever, I love it for that very reason. That and it’s yummy.
Cynthia (It all changes)July 30, 2009 at 9:09 pm
I don’t live close to my mom but everytime we visit we raid her food. I love to find the little extras she keeps around that I don’t buy but enjoy occassionally at her home. She keeps dark chocolate in the freezer 🙂
Elizabeth S.July 30, 2009 at 9:23 pm
I totally raid my parents fridge when I go over there. My mom always has cut-up fruit and veggies and I’m more than happy to eat them for her!
ErinJuly 30, 2009 at 9:46 pm

I wonder if the Pet Grass would be enticing to my puppies. It is certainly something I have never seen before. Your mom obviously loves her Grand Cat 🙂
