Didn’t Quite Work Out

Well, I woke up early this morning because I have to work all day and wanted to get in a good workout before I went. So, I woke up, ate my toast and jam and sprinted down to my apartment gym (note that its 21 degrees outside)…only to find that it was locked!!!!! It’s NEVER been locked! I tried all the doors before having no choice but to run back upstairs…and make my oatmeal. What a downer! I hate not getting a workout in before I have to sit on my butt all day long. I go stir crazy! I’m going to still try to make it this morning but I doubt if I will have enough time now because I have to be at work at 10:00. At least my oats were good though! I had a lot of leftover ground walnuts from last night’s dinner (I ended up grinding way more than I needed!!) so I added a tablespoon of that into my oats along with a chopped banana this morning instead of my usual peanut butter. It was really good! This might have to become a regular staple now!

Since I have to work today my lunch post is going to come in late. Probably around 6 today because after work I have to drive home to Tampa because Ryan forgot his cell phone charger here the other day and I have to get it to him. I’m going to spend the night in Tampa tonight and maybe tomorrow if I can get called off work to have just a bit more christmas vacation before I have to start school again on Monday! Ryan and I have plans to make homemade pizza tonight with the pizza dough that that really good all natural pizza place sells for like $2.00. This is a good idea for you guys as well—most pizza places do sell their dough for really really cheap. It’s easy and fun to go get your own ingredients for toppings such as cheese and fresh veggies and cook the dough at your house!

Have a good day, guys!

Have a great day Jenna! I was wondering if you could tell me what brand and size you buy your oats in. I’m finally going to take the oatmeal plunge and it’s definitely long over due! Wish me luck 🙂

Cute bowl!! Your oats look so voluminous in it! Probably the banana and milk bulking them up like mine yesterday.

Hi Jenna! I just wanted to thank you for your blog. I found out that I’m lactose/gluten/soy intolerant last year and have been having a difficult time avoiding so much yummy food…so I basically stopped trying to make decent meals and was just eating food that was completely bland and unsatisfying. However, after reading your blog (and Kath’s blog), I’ve started to realize that I want to bring enjoyment and excitement about food back into my life. Your blog has been very inspiring and offers lots of meal ideas that I can alter to meet my lovely dietary restrictions!! 🙂 Thanks again and keep up the good work!!

    Hi Rachel,

I’m so glad you have found some great meal inspirations! Whole foods market has a lot of options regarding gluten free foods…and Bob’s Red Mill is a great line that offers gluten-free as well. You can probably find it at your local grocery store. They make a really good gluten-free brownie mix!

    Kath,

I really do think its because I cook them completely the night before and then the next morning add 2 ounces milk and a banana! It fills my entire bowl (and these are large bowls!) and I only have 1 serving here (aka 1/4 cup dry oats). I wish i could come over and make you some! haha 🙂
