Tonight we went to a fish fry where my dad works at Ford Plantation. Gosh, what a beautiful place!!!
And don’t you KNOW I love my fried catfish and hushpuppies! 😉
And lastly,

My allergies are OUT OF CONTROL (what a lovely welcome home present) and I’m covered in bug bites. Goodnight!

My allergies are DYING (I’m in NC)!!! There were just clouds of yellow everywhere as if it was raining pollen all day. Everything is YELLOOOOW!!!

April 2, 2010 at 7:22 pmWhat does your dad do at Ford Plantation? I wish I had time to go visit it when I was in Savannah – we just ran out of time. But one of my friend’s dad manages/runs? (some title thats at the top of the food chain perhaps) the Ford Plantation?? Next time I’m in Savannah I’m so going!

April 2, 2010 at 10:34 pmI LOVE how well-rounded (cultured?) you are. One minute it’s bike rides and wine tasting in CA, then it’s cowGIRL boots and hushpuppies in GA, and then you’re off to Paris for croissants and whole milk cappuccinos. You are wonderful!

April 3, 2010 at 7:14 amOMG, I could cry seeing that fish fry. I haven’t been to one since I was a little girl in Mississippi. The church around the corner from us (not the one we attend) has fish fries during the summer. I’m DEFINITELY going this year!

April 3, 2010 at 10:54 amYour pictures are beautiful! I checked out the history of the Plantation and yikes! Below is an excerpt:
“The good times ended with the outbreak of the Civil War in 1861, when the Union blockaded the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia”
Obviously the South is tied to the economic system of slavery and it’s impossible to remove that from American history. However, “the good times” is such a poor way to describe the time period leading up to the Civil War. Granted, I am a Northerner and am well versed in the exploitive system of slavery….however, to describe the Southern economy pre-Civil War as “good times” is cementing the fact that the economy thrived because of the labor from blacks.
Sorry this was a rant. I just couldn’t believe that!

April 3, 2010 at 1:35 pmI just want to say, that although I have loved reading about your California experience and I’m sure that it’s been absolutely wonderful for you to live it, these have been my favorite posts in a long time. There’s so much LIFE in the South. An East Coast girl myself, maybe its just a matter of personal taste…or how I grew up…but there is just no where like the South(east)ern United States.
