Good day!
Gosh, I’m having the BEST time here! Seriously, it just feels maaaarvelous to just slow the pace down a bit and hang out with my family. Last night I slept for 9 hours and then today I had some great life chats with my mom while she cooked and then we worked out together and laid by the pool for the afternoon. I think I’m going to go back to California feeling like a whole new woman after some rest!
This morning I slept till 9:30 (!!!!!) and then had some almond butter toast, yogurt and strawberries for breakfast:

Stayed in my jammies until noon chatting with my mamma and then had a turkey/brie/hummus sandwich on whole wheat for lunch:

It felt great to hit the gym, too! I ran a fast 2 miles and then did some upper body strength…I think I got the best workout though laughing until my stomach hurt with my mom 😉 After my workout I did eat a Luna protein bar…but the camera was no where to be found.

I think some of the times I am the happiest is when I’m around horses. Here’s an unknown tidbit of information about me: I used to ride competitively when I was young! I grew up loving horses and my grandfather used to breed racehorses in Texas where my dad’s from. I was raised to read a racing form properly and pick trifectas at the track. I mean, sure, I love fancy dinners and great wine but just give me a prairie, a horse and some boots and I will be in my happiest state ever. 🙂
But until then….

Off to get all gussied up for a night out in Savannah with my parents. We are eating here and I can’t wait!

April 3, 2010 at 2:31 pmThis post made me so homesick! I am actually from Minnesota, not the South, but I too grew up around horses and used to ride all the time – even Saddleseat competitively. I was totally dying at the part about the racing form – I pick a mean trifecta 🙂

April 3, 2010 at 2:39 pmWhile I’ve never ridden them, horses are such beautiful and mystical creatures to me. They’re like land-dolphins…if that makes sense.
Glad you’re having a great, rejuvenating time catching up with your folks. Again, I can’t get over the slew of cute dresses you’ve been fashioning lately!

April 3, 2010 at 3:39 pmI used to ride too. It’s so much fun!! I live in Saratoga where horse racing is huge, so I grew up riding ex-thoroughbreds. I gave it up when my dad quit his job because it was getting so expensive, but I hope riding is on of those things that comes back easily.

April 3, 2010 at 3:50 pmi completely understand how you feel about being around horses. i grew up riding and my family still has horses…love them! not sure if you’re a beer drinker, but if so, you should check out Moon River Brewing Company http://www.moonriverbrewing.com/. my boyfriend’s brother is the brewmaster! i also love the Savannah Tea Room (Brin’s Cup Green is the best!) & nourish.

April 3, 2010 at 6:05 pmWhat fun!! Mom time is so reinvigorating. The restro for tonight looks fun…love all the moss. That’s interesting re the horses. I did too!! Was given a foal in the blood lines of Northern Dancer, and my son and I both rode/jumped hunter/hack…he did Steeplechase too–not me. Very good discipline plus just horse crazy. So glad you’re getting refreshed! I’ve taken 4 days of most social media….except just cking email, FB and here….everything else taking a rest. Gets to be too much sometimes!

April 3, 2010 at 6:14 pmSounds like you’re having a wonderful time! I was wondering.. since you drink amazing grass a lot, I was wondering how many servings of vegetables the chocolate amazing grass contains? I’ve seen it a lot on your blog- and it looks so good! I’d prefer my veggies to taste like chocolate 😉

April 3, 2010 at 6:18 pmWhat was your grandfather’s name and when did he breed racehorses in Texas? Quarter horse or Thoroughbred? I’m from Texas (living in Kentucky now) and have family that was in the racing industry and have worked in it myself. Love the racehorses… that’s why I live in Lexington now! 🙂

April 3, 2010 at 6:59 pmDid you show hunters? You seem to be an english type gal.
I used to show on that AQHA circuit. Very cool to know your a horse person. I can totally relate to you being happiest with them. Since I stopped riding (not by choice) and being involved (was a barn manager) I’ve been incredibly unhappy in that aspect of my life. Wish money wasn’t such an issue.
There doesn’t seem to be a thing that can fill that void.
