Mornin’!
Hope everyone is doing well 🙂 Here’s a little recap of the past 24 hours!
Yesterday afternoon I was seriously craving a smoothie even though the temperature had dropped and it was freeeeezing outside! So, I combined 1/2 scoop Jay Robb, 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, 1/2 banana, ice, 1/2 tsp xanthan gum, pinch of salt, small handful dark chocolate chips, 1 tsp coconut butter and a squirt of agave in the Vita Mix and made a masterpiece!

Gosh, it was so good. I think it was the chocolate chips and banana that really put this over the edge. Mmm
And then last night I got to hang out with this girl, eat sushi and have lots of girltalk!

Miso soup:

And a “tuna tuna roll” (made with two types of tuna…duh)

I inhaled it in like five minutes, naturally. I seriously miss me some sushi living over here. Tampa had the best!
Our gabfest was going strong so we took it from sushi bar to starbucks where we closed the place down. 😉 I had a tall nonfat hot chocolate:

I swear, hanging out with a good girlfriend is totally like therapy! Kelly never fails to tell it like it is and I love her for it 🙂
And then this morning I made millet french toast!

Mmmmmmmmmmm sooooooo gooooood!!!!! Basically, I just combined 1/4 cup egg whites with a splash of almond milk and cinnamon and then soaked the millet bread in that before cooking in the cast iron till golden. Then, I topped each slice with a smear of barney butter, a scoop of greek yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup!
I’m off to respond to some emails before church. Have a great Sunday!

January 24, 2010 at 8:11 amLooking for millet bread…I’ll try Whole Foods this week! When you come home to Florida, you should try to come down to Fort Myers! We have a place called Blue Sushi that has an all-you-can-eat sushi every day from 11:30 until 2:00! We go at least once a month! The best one is at Gulf Coast Town Center near Florida Gulf Coast University!
Glad you had some girlfriend time the past few days!

January 24, 2010 at 10:22 amWhen I saw the title of this post my first thought was ‘ain’t that the truth!’. I lived in the Bay Area for 4 years and there are some killer sushi spots. There’s a place in Berkeley called Joshu-ya’s .. amazing! You definitely should swing by next time you’re in the area 🙂

January 24, 2010 at 11:18 amhey jenna!
i’m not sure how good the sushi is up by where you are in the sonoma area, but the sushi is the absolute best in berkeley and san francisco. my favorite place to go is on solano ave., in albany, which is the town next to berkeley, it’s called Miyuki. Go there!!!

January 24, 2010 at 11:32 amMmmmm millet french toast?? I bet it’s even better than if it was made with Ezekiel bread.
Sounds like a fun night with a great friend. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

January 24, 2010 at 11:52 amOh I had a girl night yesterday too! We also had sushi. I got a sweet potato roll that was amazing. They must have fried the sweet potato because it was warm and slightly crunchy. I’ll have to make sure I order that again.

January 24, 2010 at 1:52 pmI find it so interesting that you use xantham gum in your smoothie! I eat gluten free, so I need to use that whenever I am baking to put the stickiness back in dough! What made you think of using it? What difference do you find it makes?

January 24, 2010 at 3:50 pmOOHhh.. The smoothie looks tasty. Isn’t it funny when you don’t realize how many things you are blending until you go and write about it???? IT’s insane the amount of ingredients I put in food sometime. AND half the time it isn’t necessary… but sometimes it makes it.
AND yes.. Girl TIME is definitely needed from time to time!

January 24, 2010 at 6:33 pmI love that you go to church….I am not religious – and I don’t care who is or how spiritual you are…but I think it is important to have faith and connection with something “higher” in the universe…it reminds us that we are only but a small piece of the puzzle.
And, YES, it is ALL about girlfriends in life… although I sure could go for a BOYfriend right about now…:(
