Well, good morning.
Why am I blogging at 7:17 on a Saturday morning, you ask?
I don’t know.
Why am I awake.
Why can’t I sleep in like a normal human being.
Why why why.
First thing this morning I decided I had to test the italian buttercream that I made last night. You know, to see if it was still good. Something bad might have happened…we just can’t know these things. Unfortunately, as I was reaching for the tightly wrapped tupperware, spoon in midair, eggs dropped down from heaven and broke all over the kitchen floor.
And a loud booming voice from above said THOU SHALT KEEP THY FINGERS OUT OF THY BUTTERCREAM
And so it goes.
At least I didn’t catch my robe on fire.
After I recovered and mopped up the yolks and whites, I continued my morning routine. There was oatmeal and English Breakfast tea to be enjoyed….and I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I’m still in bed with Dexter and the big yellow Gourmet bible next to me.
My oats contained oats (duh), banana, almond milk, water, 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder and peanut butter crumbles.
I need to run five miles later. I should have already done that seeing as I woke up at the crack of dawn. But, to be honest, I’d rather lay in bed and read cookbooks and plot how I can crash a pool today. I really love pools. No, really. Does anyone want to invite me to their pool? I will bring you buttercream. Without broken eggs. Maybe even a cupcake. Please?

April 17, 2010 at 7:34 amYou are so cute Jenna Its ridiculous! Hows that book comin? PS did I miss the memo where you told us why you made a huge batch of italian buttercream to tempt you in your fridge?
Good Luck with that…You’re stronger than I am. π

April 17, 2010 at 8:11 amI know why I was up at 4:50-doggie kisses.
I know why I was up at 6:30-doggie needed to pee.
I think a poolside morning is an excellent idea! Good thing I kept the key to my old apartment pool…it’s supposed to be 90 in AZ today!
I love your blog Jenna-you support my oatmeal addiction, and I would have been in the buttercream at least once already;)

April 17, 2010 at 8:34 amHahahaha love this post. Bummer you can’t sleep in though π I would hate that, I’m SUCH a sleeper. It was difficult to drag myself out of bed at 8:00 AM this morning to get some work done!
Hope you have a good day! And find a pool!
Diana
April 17, 2010 at 8:38 amI always wake up really early on saturdays. Actually, I wake up early every day. Not even because I want to, I just do it naturally!
Have a great day (hope you find a pool)! π

April 17, 2010 at 8:45 amIf you’re ever around Tampa/Gville again you can hang at mine!

April 17, 2010 at 8:46 amhaha, I love pool crashing. My apartment complex doesn’t have one but a bunch of the ones near me do, so I always crash and just pretend I love there while I soak up the sun.
Good luck with the run!

April 17, 2010 at 8:52 amI can’t sleep past 7:30 these days — it’s kind of nice to have extra time in the morning but not-so-great when you just want to sleep in and laze around.
Tina
April 17, 2010 at 9:04 amI totally feel your pain about sleeping in…Saturday morning and I’m awake at 7. I’ve always had this problem! The latest I can ever sleep is probably 8:30, maybe 9 at my best. Ah, well.

April 17, 2010 at 9:08 amdon’t you hate it when eggs get thrown from heaven when you’re in the middle of trying some buttercream? π hope you have a great day! i don’t have a pool or, you know, live in northern california, but if you ever come to colorado you’re welcome to use the hot tub!
Heather @ Side of Sneakers
April 17, 2010 at 9:20 amWhat a rough morning. I still would have gone for the buttercream π If I had a pool you’d be invited. I wish I had a pool….
Cynthia (It All Changes)
April 17, 2010 at 9:22 amI’ll built a pool for butter cream and a cupcake π

April 17, 2010 at 9:36 amLet’s put it this way- if I slept until 7:15 on a Saturday morning I’d be impressed with myself, I’m usually up even earlier- I am terrible at sleeping late unless I get myself in a good habit and that never happens with that whole thing called work, boo
miranda
April 17, 2010 at 9:38 amI SO desperately wish I could manage, ever, to get up earlier than say, 9:30. Even that requires many snooze buttons. Maybe we can teach other the ways?? I hope you checked on that frosting regardless of broken eggs, everyone deserves a bit of buttercream frosting on Saturday morning!
Helen
April 17, 2010 at 9:43 amThis is such a funny post!! Did you taste the buttercream after all??? Hope you found a pool to crash! A great way to relax!

April 17, 2010 at 10:19 amJenna, your last few posts have really made me laugh. I know you said you were stressed a couple days ago, but I love the extra sassiness in your voice. Kinds seems like you are playing around with your writing a little–shorter, quippier sentences. (Sorry, I’m a word geek.) Have a great weekend!

April 17, 2010 at 10:42 amYou’ve been extra hilarious this weekend…I’m lovin’ it.

April 17, 2010 at 10:43 amJenna I’d totally invite you to the pool I use, if only it was open before May! in fact i think they don’t start to heat that pool till sometime mid-May…and it opens around Memorial Day weekend (I think) I’d totally accept a cupcake in exchange for pool crash…in the meantime there’s lots of public pools in the area-Ridgeway, Finley (both in good ‘ole Santa Rosa) if you can’t wait…

April 17, 2010 at 10:50 amI adore laying about reading cookbooks – I have about 70-80 already, they make fab reading!
Bad times on the eggs, that sucks! Did Dexter clean them up!? Apparently cats like raw egg…

April 17, 2010 at 2:27 pmI have a huge craving for cupcakes with buttercream now. Thankssomuch.
How far are you from Sacramento? I am moving to Sac in August and I *refuse* to live anywhere without a pool. So you can come swim at my house!
Pam (IIN Health Coach)
April 17, 2010 at 2:37 pmJenna, Don’t feel bad about the eggs, I did the same thing last year…I was reaching for something in the fridge and a FULL carton of eggs fell to the floor. It is so hard to clean egg off the floor – gahh!! Congratulations on joining the clumsy club.
Have a great Saturday π
diana@mymarblerye
April 17, 2010 at 3:42 pmI would offer a glamourous pool for you to swim in but alas, I don’t own one and I live in Texas. I will however bond with you through our senior citizen wake up/sleep schedule. On days off I wake up at 6 still and go to bed by 9 or 10. π

April 17, 2010 at 5:06 pmThese last couple posts in particular have been freaking solid gold! You’re waaaaaay too presh! π Love the play-by-play of your buttercream and eggs incident. It made me cringe like only a buttercream-making mishap could do to a girl π
Your posts make you sound like you’ve got the spring in your step, or fingers in this case! π Guess it’s the new boy?!
