December 19, 2007 Nora@LiveLifeEatRight November 23, 2010 at 11:55 am I happen to love that some of the chocolates have “bites” taken out of them. I never can follow those guides that come in the box. Let’s be hones half the time I lose them when I tear the thing apart. I’m a chocoholic that loves to taste everything. Even if it isn’t particularly good–I like to live on the wild side. Allie (Live Laugh Eat) November 23, 2010 at 12:04 pm I’m chocolate covered caramel!! …and keep biting until you find all of them in the box 🙂 Michele @ Healthy Cultivations November 23, 2010 at 12:04 pm Jenna, That’s a very thought-provoking question in this holiday week. A very good question too, and I’m glad you know the answer. What’s so interesting is how we evolve over time. It’s fascinating how some things never change, and some things intensify with age. Self-discovery is an amazing journey. Ilana November 23, 2010 at 12:04 pm Last year when my boyfriend and I had a huge fight (and I thought we were breaking up),I bought and ate two boxes of Godiva in less than three days. It was….awesome. Bethany @ More Fruit Please November 23, 2010 at 12:04 pm I always save the starfish for last. I happen to think that it’s the prettiest and feels like it deserves a very special moment in order to be eaten. jenna November 23, 2010 at 12:08 pm this made me smile! Victoria (District Chocoholic) November 23, 2010 at 12:05 pm Oh please please reveal which chocolatier that box is from. jenna November 23, 2010 at 12:07 pm godiva 🙂 Victoria (District Chocoholic) November 23, 2010 at 12:12 pm Oh, that was my guess…I was hoping maybe you’d picked up something from Recchiuti so that i could live through you 2500 miles away… Michele @ Healthy Cultivations November 23, 2010 at 12:05 pm Apparently, I first took the question much more seriously than everyone else. That’s my tendency — to be serious. If we’re talking chocolates, I’m the truffle variety… or the caramel. jessica November 24, 2010 at 7:57 pm You and I were on the same page with looking a little deeper. When I read Jenna’s question I definitely wasn’t thinking about what kind of chocolate I am 😉 Mackenzie @ Whatever, Gatsby November 25, 2010 at 8:41 am Hahahaha I thought the same thing! Chocolate-wise, I’m chocolate coconut, as no one else likes it and I hate to leave it by its lonesome. On a deeper level, I’m definitely the same in some capacity. I love making people feel loved, even if it’s just a piece of lonely chocolate 🙂 tina November 23, 2010 at 12:05 pm the white chocolate is calling my name!!!! i prefer the thumb nail in the bottom trick… that way i don’t have to taste ones i don’t like AND i can trick my husband into thinking they haven’t been touched!! 😉 Katherine @ Left Coast Contessa November 23, 2010 at 12:06 pm this is just like that scene in Legally Blond when Elle is dumped by Warner and she watches soaps and takes one bite of each chocolate from a box. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman November 23, 2010 at 12:08 pm I want that big green one in the middle. I’m imagining mint. VeggieGirl November 23, 2010 at 12:10 pm I am someone who is more thankful than EVER before. Katy November 23, 2010 at 12:12 pm Full-on, double caramel. All the way. You know, if such a thing exists. Cathy B. @ Bright Bakes November 23, 2010 at 12:13 pm I love “one-bite-taste-tests” I could never commit to just one whole piece 🙂 But I would grab the mint-lookin’ one for my Mister… love, cathy b. p.s.your posts make me smile 🙂 Sarah November 23, 2010 at 12:17 pm I am Dark Chocolate with a hint of Mint! Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat November 23, 2010 at 12:17 pm I’m the one with the butterscotch or caramel filling, but when I was younger I looooved the marshmallow-y fruit filled ones! Lauren at KeepItSweet November 23, 2010 at 12:19 pm that would be me too, love it grocery goddess jen November 23, 2010 at 12:20 pm Yeah, I just ate a brownie standing up leaning over the sink. But it’s my birthday, so I can do whatever I want! jenna November 23, 2010 at 12:21 pm happy birthday! Alina @ Duty Free Foodie November 23, 2010 at 12:20 pm Haha – I’ve done that before!!! It used to drive my family nuts. Now I just hide the evidence. Jessica @ How Sweet It Is November 23, 2010 at 12:22 pm Chocolate and COCONUT! Susan November 23, 2010 at 5:46 pm Those are always my favorite, too! Krystina (Basil & Wine) November 23, 2010 at 12:26 pm You’re a girl after my own heart. The white chocolate star looks lonely; I’ll happily take a bite out of it for you. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) November 23, 2010 at 12:31 pm Love Godiva. And Sees Candies. Pretty much everything is better with chocolate 🙂 My faves are chocolate (dark) + caramel. That is a winning combo. Have a great Thanksgiving and happy cooking! Natalia - a side of simple November 23, 2010 at 12:32 pm Haha clearly your best friend if this is what’s going on right now 😉 Kailey (SnackFace) November 23, 2010 at 12:41 pm That is totally what I do, too. It’s like I have a commitment problem. I don’t want the whole thing if it’s going to be bad, but just a taste to test it out is good. Lori Lynn November 23, 2010 at 12:41 pm I’m the dark chocolate with the mint. Yum! Brenna [fabuleuxdestin] November 23, 2010 at 12:41 pm The worst thing ever is biting into the cherry one! I always leave them half eaten – my family hates me for it! melissa roby November 23, 2010 at 12:44 pm I must be crazy….because the first thing I thought of when I saw your blog post today…was…you okay????…bad day???….who hurt your feelings????…..until I read all the other comments…..:)…I feel like I’m taking crazy pills….the double strength kind today….. Lindsay @ The Ketchup Diaries November 23, 2010 at 12:45 pm Chocolate covered coconut, baby! Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks November 23, 2010 at 12:51 pm That is the best moment ever. I want to have one of my own. That’s who I am. The girl who is looking for her moment. Mom November 23, 2010 at 12:52 pm Yum! Perfect post! Milk chocolate with carmel and pecans 🙂 aubrey November 23, 2010 at 12:55 pm i love it. Why is it, that only 25 percent of all chocolate boxes are filled with the good stuff? Maybe someone knew us girls would eat entire boxes if all the chocolate was actually good. They were just looking out for us. I am currently eating super chunky SKIPPY peanut butter. This is very unlike myself, for i only eat all natural. But I am in my boyfriend’s apartment, I found it in his fridge and by golly….it’s hitting the spot. That’s my current moment. Lisa November 23, 2010 at 12:55 pm Mmmm… Godiva is so so so good, it can make any day a thousand times better. Kristin November 23, 2010 at 1:09 pm I’m a raspberry truffle 🙂 Crystal November 23, 2010 at 1:42 pm Jenna! Love your site! any suggestions on a pecan pie quick? I’m sorta desperate, wanna impress the family, and something about frozen store bought just doesn’t seem to fit the bill. Thank you!! Ashley (whole-ier) November 23, 2010 at 1:47 pm I’m all of those… half eaten, then realize that I really don’t like chocolate after all RhodeyGirl November 23, 2010 at 1:51 pm Jenna, I take a bite out of every single chocolate in the box. It is disgusting and awesome and makes me miss living alone sometimes…. sitting on the couch with a box of chocolate in hand thoughtfully taking a little taste of each one! Lauren November 23, 2010 at 2:30 pm I am a chocolate lover. I do the same thing – bite off half of the chocolate and leave the rest for later, unless it is a really, really good one! Jaime Ramsay November 23, 2010 at 2:33 pm I love that everybody has ignored the existential side of that question and gone straight for the chocolate; that’s a sign that you have lots of female readers! Me? Anything with an orange or strawberry filling. Or…. a happy Aussie living in London. 🙂 Charles Matulac November 23, 2010 at 2:43 pm I’m going straight for that cherry cordial in the corner. As to Jaime’s existential question, I’m a would-be blogger that’s on hiatus while he sorts out a new life with a 3 week old! Caitlin November 23, 2010 at 2:45 pm I’m not really a big fan of the box of chocolates (picky eater) but there is a story I like to tell my girlfriends about chocolate. It was told to me during those ever impressionable, sometimes over-dramatic high school years by my friend’s mother. We were on the subject of boys (aren’t we always, no matter the age?) and she said to us, “You know, guys and relationships are kind of like a box of chocolates. There are so many to choose from. Some of them are beautiful, some are mysterious, but the lure of them is taking a bite and seeing what’s inside. Too often, we think trying something that looks delicious is what we’re after. Then, we take a bite and spit it out. After awhile, you learn all you were after the whole time was the one with caramel on the inside. Simple, sweet, satisfying caramel.” Ever since, we’ve always joked about finding our “caramel.” Coincidentally, that’s the only one I never spit out. Happy Thanksgiving!! And PS I think I speak for everyone when I say you totally found your caramel, Jenna. Laughter-Loving Stacy November 23, 2010 at 2:50 pm I’m the only red one in the box 😀 (I hope it’s chocolate cherry!) yay 🙂 Janna November 23, 2010 at 2:51 pm Why is one always wrapped in tinfoil ? Lol it’s so random…but umm chocolate hazelnut anything Trish November 23, 2010 at 2:56 pm Holy drool! That is all. 🙂 Angela (the diet book junkie) November 23, 2010 at 2:57 pm haha….i’ve been known to take a bite of chocolate and put it back. unless, it’s Lindt. that never happens with Lindt. 🙂 Laura November 23, 2010 at 3:07 pm I’m the perfect mix of hazelnut and dark chocolate. LboogieDC November 23, 2010 at 3:14 pm I love that almost all of the pieces have bites taken out. That is the exact way my boxes of chocolate look!!! I am orange truffle covered in dark chocolate. 🙂 Moni'sMeals November 23, 2010 at 3:45 pm Godiva all the way baby! Sarah November 23, 2010 at 4:21 pm I usually nibble each one until I find maple cream with walnut… and sadly if it does not exist I settle for Vanilla cream…. something about the frosting like center gets me every time… meagan November 23, 2010 at 5:13 pm ::now ponders getting chocolate in her pjs and slippers:: kate November 23, 2010 at 5:15 pm Im a white chocolate starfish 😉 Suzanne de Cornelia November 23, 2010 at 5:28 pm Choc covered almond-clusters or choc fudge w/lot of nuts so feel have some nutrition w/treat….& just get a tiny white bag with 4 pieces at the very most once every 2-3 months. Am very disciplined as a result of Catholic Girl’s school & the nuns preaching moderation. Plus, that’s the French way~savor a small amount. OK. Confess that also save calories to splurge on pasta & wine. Which, so it happens, is happening tonight. 😉 chelsey @ clean eating chelsey November 23, 2010 at 5:58 pm I am the one who take a bite out of everything until I find the one filled with caramel. Jen November 23, 2010 at 6:02 pm I do the half-bites. But then go back and “re-bite”. So the box is empty. 😉 Any of that. Even the ones I don’t like lol. But yeah, Buttercream is where it’s at. jessica November 23, 2010 at 6:23 pm I’m totally NUTS …. but not in the least bit fruity. hehe Anon November 23, 2010 at 6:29 pm Currently eating chocolate covered nuts and maple-syrup and sea-salt coated caramels… Erin November 23, 2010 at 6:30 pm I am most certainly dark chocolate covered ginger. Camille November 23, 2010 at 7:09 pm hahaha, Jenna, you are awesome 🙂 Charlotte November 23, 2010 at 7:16 pm hahahahah. this post = perfection. ENJOY– you deserve it Leigh November 23, 2010 at 7:49 pm Did a mouse get in the chocolate box? Looks like someone was nibbling … ! Haha, the illusion of a full box with lots of almost intact chocolates. Diana @ frontyardfoodie November 23, 2010 at 8:49 pm I want that…..my husband told me I should make a Hyvee run and get some cheap chocolates but I don’t want cheap chocolates….I want that! maria November 23, 2010 at 9:06 pm Milk chocolate with caramel and nuts in the middle. I’m bite into every single one just to see what it is 🙂 AshleyH November 23, 2010 at 9:22 pm When I read this I automatically thought deeper. I am 22 and constantly searching for who I really am. On the subject of chocolate, My mom and I have always gone through the box with a butter knife and cut them in half. Then we go through and nibble through the halves to make it last longer. 🙂 Ruth @ The Inspired Latin Cook November 23, 2010 at 10:02 pm haha, I found it so funny that you nibbled a bit out of every morsel of chocolate! I thoroughly enjoy reading all about your fun stories and adventures. Keep it up! Liana @ femme fraiche November 24, 2010 at 3:51 am Insert Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in that box pretty please! Or Toblerone…any flavour really Cara Craves... November 24, 2010 at 4:58 am Have you been following Top Chef: Just Desserts? Cause this is what this post reminded me of. The contestants has to create their own box of chocolates portraying the lost important points in their lives. Abby November 24, 2010 at 6:40 am You can also stick a toothpick in the bottom to try and figure out what kind it is. It’s a little less evasive than a knife, but you can only do it a couple times before people tell you just to grab one and eat the damn thing. Joanna November 24, 2010 at 6:42 am The star in the corner. yum Lu November 24, 2010 at 6:43 am Dark Chocolate covered orange cream. I’ll fight for it.
