Well, after 11 hours of sleep I’m a whole new woman. I was really hoping to wake up and see a blanket of snow out my window but alas, it appears to be a cold sunny day. I guess I’m going to have to go make the trip to the mountains to see the snow of my dreams!
I made a very large and delicious pancake for breakfast:
I topped my masterpiece with almond butter, banana and Kodiak Cakes berry syrup, which was a very delicious confection indeed.

I’m off to the gym right now then running errands and basically pulling my life back together….I feel so behind!
Happy Monday!

December 7, 2009 at 8:56 amWhen was the last time you saw snow in person? I’m only asking because my boss is from Florida and said that he didn’t see snow in person until he was in college. He didn’t even know how to make a snowman – too funny! Being from Chicago, we get a ton of snow each year. Although it’s very pretty to look at during the Christmas season, I can definitely live without it the rest of the year 😉 It makes driving terrible!

December 7, 2009 at 9:58 amMmm, those kodiak pancakes and acroutements look delicious! i’m not a big pancake fan, but these might change my mind. Are pancake and waffle mix the same thing? Or are the ingredients different in some way?
No snow in NYC, but it sure is cold! Finally feels like Christmas…

December 7, 2009 at 1:44 pmWe’re getting a huge dump of snow here in Reno today! It snowed all last night and hasn’t stopped yet…all schools, including the university, are closed! It’s super fun…make sure you stock up on the snow-day necessities (tea, hot chocolate, warm socks, boots, hat, waterproof coat, etc.) for when it hits the Bay!

December 7, 2009 at 2:56 pmHi Jenna,
I’ve been an avid reader of your blog since I decided to go mainly raw and vegan. I was snooping through some older posts and saw that you lived in Vero Beach! I grew up there as well and went to St. Edward’s for middle school and a year of high school. I live in NYC now, but my parents are still there and I was wondering if you know of any good vegan or raw places to eat for when I go home for the holidays. Thanks so much and you’re doing a wonderful job!

December 8, 2009 at 5:05 amJenna, I grew up right outside San Francisco so I have been envying your life since the moment you announced you were moving to CA! I REALLY really think you would love a weekend in the mountains, convince your buddies to go with you to Tahoe! It sounds cliched, but seriously, skiing (and hiking in the summer) Lake Tahoe is one of my fondest memories from childhood and I promise you would love the laid back vibe going on there. Plus, hello, SNOW!!! I would give an arm and a leg to be within driving distance of Heavenly. GO NOW! 🙂

December 8, 2009 at 9:40 amMy favorite tradition is decorating the tree- we turn on some music, make some snacks and have some drinks and just make a whole night of it. I love going through all our ornaments! I need some soup right now in a big way- I live in Arcata just a few hours north of you and I’m feeling the chill here!

December 8, 2009 at 1:55 pmSoup contest:
Every year my family and I go to a family owned Christmas Tree farm to cut down our tree. We always go the day after Thankgiving and it has now been 28 years (of my life at least). I know many families have this tradition but we add a little more. We forget about our usual health mindedness and bring donuts and peanut butter, (a food combo from my great grandfather…you have to try it. I like it on plain donuts), along with hot chocolate and of course coffee. No matter how cold, we lay out blankets and pass the snacks around while enjoying laughs and conversation. No chores, no distractions, just famliy and a good excuse to eat lots of carbs. – Stacy
