Happy Monday!
The California countdown is now fully in swing…..I can’t believe I leave on Saturday!!!! Ahh! I enjoyed hearing about all your ideas for Wine 101 this week. Tune in later for Lesson One and in the meantime, your “homework” is to read my latest article on True/Slant about the health benefits of red wine. 😉
I’ve got a very busy week ahead of me, as I prepare for my final interview out in Sonoma. I LOVE traveling, but getting everything together can be stressful. I’ve been known to prepare for days and then when I reach my destination realize I’ve forgotten something small but essential, such as my glasses. Don’t ya hate that?! The guest room looks like a hurricane hit it right now as I have been spreading out all my outfits everywhere. Also, don’t think I have mentioned it yet, but I will be documenting my trip on video! The good ol’ FlipCam will be coming with me so I can turn my experience into a movie for you guys. Pretty exciting, no?!
This morning I made a big yogurt bowl for breakkie:

July 13, 2009 at 8:47 amGood luck getting everything together for your trip! Packing is such a pain- I have to make a giant list and then check off as I go, otherwise I ALWAYS forget something.
Can’t wait to see your video footage!

July 13, 2009 at 8:48 amHey Jenna!
Congrats on the interview!
I was actually hoping you could answer a question for me. You see, i started practicing bikram and i have been at it for about a month . . . going 3-4 days a week. I usually go mon., weds., and friday. I have also been really good about my eating, but saturday is usually the day i go out to eat in a restaurant and indulge a bit. The past few weeks i would weigh myself on sunday and would see a three to four lb. increase in weight, but then i haul my butt to a yoga class and cut my calorie intake just a bit then monday thru friday i would go back to my normal healthy eating and my weight stayed in check. However, today i found that after 2 days of indulging (Thanks to some birthday celebrations) my weight only went up a pound and some change and i find it easier to get back to starter weight. Could this be because yoga is helping to improve my metabolism?

July 13, 2009 at 9:08 amGood luck with getting ready! I do the same thing – I’m a compulsive packer but I always forget something important, usually contacts-related.

July 13, 2009 at 9:12 amSo excited that you’re video taping the trip!! Can’t wait to see! I’d say don’t worry about packing, but I am just like you! I think just remember that you’re not going to the desert; if you forget something you can always (hopefully!!) find it wherever you are staying! I can’t wait to read all your wine lessons this week!! There are soooo many types of wine (specifically reds) that I know nothing about… although I tend to love ’em all!!

July 13, 2009 at 9:14 amHey Jenna!
It totally helps me when I make a list of things I need to pack before a trip. But you abosultely cannot check an item off the list until it’s really packed up! Next tot eh suitcase doesn’t count– that’s my worst mistake haha.
You’re going to rock it!!

July 13, 2009 at 9:43 amHi Jenna,
Just wanted to let you know that I finally gave in a few weeks ago and ordered the chocolate superfood mix. Well, I got it in the mail the other day, and I was very hesistant to try it. This morning after my run, I added it to my green monster, and WOW!!! it was delicious!!! Defintley worth the money (plus the international shipping since I’m in Canada!). I’ve gotten so many great ideas from you and I just wanted to say thank you!
Good luck on your interview.

July 13, 2009 at 10:48 amHi Jenna,
I have been following along for so long now, but I want to come out of lurking because I really believe that the support of one’s community is a better confidence booster than even the best planned wardrobe ensembles! You are going to do great because (and this is why I love and ace interviews) all that is left to do is shine. This huge blog full of sophisticated, simple, somber, silly and serene thoughts is just a nano factor of your personality, so imagine how great you will be in person! I am constantly amazed by your resilience, luminescence and the work ethic and passion you put in to everything you do. I have no doubt that you will impress and inspire at your interview. More than anything, enjoy the chance to talk about what makes you wonderful and perfect for the job. I can’t wait to hear all about it!
P.S. My best interview prep tip is to always comment a photo or article in someone’s office space (if that is where the interview occurs). This way, you can decide the tone of the interview and establish a personal connection that puts everyone at ease. I know, so Dale Carnegie, but it works!
Courtney
July 13, 2009 at 11:18 amThat yogurt bowl looks SO GOOD! Where do you find your cacao nibs? And do they taste like dark chocolate or are they more “natural” tasting?

July 13, 2009 at 11:49 amI’ve been lurking around your blog for the past few days and it’s been making me happy! Your voice is refreshingly happy and laid-back but your material is so smart and spot-on. And you’re inspiring me to cook these days! Rock on.

July 13, 2009 at 11:53 amMorning! Before I go away, I always make a list of the things that I need to take. I think of all the steps that I take to get ready and write it down. By doing that, I can’t say that I have ever forgotten anything major.

July 13, 2009 at 12:32 pmgood luch with your interview and have a fun trip!!!

July 13, 2009 at 12:41 pmThe video posts of your trip to Cali will make for great blog entries!!
I have done so much travelling over the years but still have not mastered the art of packing perfectly. My best advice is to pack 2 outfits and essentials in your carry-on. The last thing you need is to stress over having lost luggage and nothing to wear.
Sarah
July 13, 2009 at 1:12 pmmm, mm, mm. that yogurt bowl looks totally delish.
be careful not to forget your jammies! that’s what i always forget, even when i make an effort to remember them!
