Holy Yum

Hi guys!

Thank you all SO much for all your sweet comments earlier! Hopefully I can adjust to the new schedule…on one hand it might be best to go to sleep at like 5 or 6 pm and wake up at 1 am but then I would never get to see Ryan and the fam on the days I work.  If I went to sleep at noon and slept til 7 pm, I could still wake up, eat a meal and go to the gym with Ryan before going to work at 2. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet. Somehow I need to find the easiest fit so that on my days off I’m not a total zonk. I think no matter what, for the first month I’m going to be tired all the time.

I bought myself this gorgeous book to celebrate:

And Ryan and I went to Greenwise to get pizza. We each got our own and I got a small (they were out of whole wheat crust!) with bruschetta topping instead of tomato sauce, goat cheese, mixed veggies, spinach and sundried tomatoes

And I’m not just saying this because they offered me a job, it was the BEST pizza I have EVER had! Everything about it was amazing. The goat cheese was smooth and melty and the crust was chewy. As VeggieGirl would say, HOLY YUM! =)  It was so good I thought I would eat the entire pizza but I was full after half, which was three small slices.

We relaxed for awhile and whispered to each other since I still cannot talk, and then went out for ice cream. Ryan got Coldstone and I got D’Lites across the street. The flavor of the night was chocolate peanut butter and it was delish! I got a medium cup of it with chocolate sprinkle mix on top.

I couldn’t finish the whole thing though….I left a tiny bit at the bottom and made Ryan throw it away. A couple days ago a reader said that the reason this froyo is so low in calories (a medium size cup only has 100 calories) might be because they pump so much air into it. Well, they probably do because it fills me up for the minute but then 10 minutes later I’m ready for more. The same thing goes for sushi. Maybe I’m just weird.

I’m off to get in my snugglies and read while Ryan watches espn. Let’s all hope my voice comes back tomorrow as I head back to Vero for my last week and a half of my externship!

i was thinking about how i would deal with a crazy schedule change like that and also came up with a similar sleep during the day while everyone else is at work, and then wake up to spend time with other people before work. it will be an adjustment but i’m sure you’ll figure it out.
the job sounds super awesome perfect. i’m so excited for you!

    That pizza does look great.

Mu husband got me last book recently. I have a question though. Where do you get instant yeast? I’ve only used active dry, but I know instant yeast is highly preferred by a lot of experts. I haven’t found it. Any suggestions for a fairly small town?

    Jenna,
If you don’t already own it, I highly recommend the Bread Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum. Before I was a mommy & had more time to myself, I would make bread from her book & it was always superb. She has a very interesting method for the “starter”. If you don’t want to buy the whole book but would like to try out one of her recipes I could hook you up with a copy of one that I know is yummy. Let me know. She has a recipe for Banana Feather loaf which is awesome and a must try. I hope you are feeling well enough to head back to work.

I think that’s probably right about the air. We have tasti d lite here and it always fills me up…for five minutes. I actually stopped getting it because it just made me mad. I’d rather have real ice cream and feel satisfied.

Congratulations on your new job, Jenna! I’m obviously very behind on blog reading…I apologize for the late congrats. But I just had to comment when I saw that you purchased this book! My hubb gave it to me for Christmas two years ago and I’ve made a couple of breads out of it that have been amazing. For Christmas this year I received TONS of bread baking equipment and am so excited to learn the craft and really get into the Bread Baker’s Apprentice! I can’t wait to see the amazing breads you bake for Greenwise! 🙂
