Home Sweet Home

Good evening!

Today has been a bit of a busy day, getting home from being gone for a week and a half and catching up with the parents. 🙂 I actually made really good time though on my trip (sang at the top of my lungs for 3 hours straight) and was able to get home right at noon for lunch. I knew exactly what I wanted…..

New Chobani pomegranate yogurt (!!) with Kashi U cereal and blueberries. I missed my yogurt!!!!! I really liked this flavor but I think I need to try it again on its own because the cereal sort of overwhelmed it and if you wouldn’t have told me it was pomegranate I probably would have thought it was cherry or strawberry.

While I ate, I read:

I did hit the gym this afternoon….20 sweaty stairmaster minutes + 30 pushups + bicycle crunches. September 1st is my last day at the gym so I thought I should take advantage of it today!

Post-gym I had the other half of my Pro Bar—-

Loved this flavor because there were big chunks of melty chocolate chips in it! Put dark chocolate in anything and I am a happy camper. 🙂

Even though I love being with my girlfriends, it was nice to come home to quiet, Dexter and a glass of wine with my parents!

(I think he missed me. Obviously)

And my mom made a fantastic dinner! I’m going to miss living with my parents….my mom is the best chef ever!

IMG_3176

Chicken schnitzel from The French Laundry cookbook along with sugar snap peas and some red rice with goat cheese and toasted almonds that I threw together at the end. It was delicious!

But the best was the homemade blueberry cake she made!

This was a recipe from the newspaper and was sooooooooo good. I rationalized having two pieces because technically I’m carbo-loading for my long run tomorrow 😉

Project for the night was THIS:

My closet is totally out of control and I just spent the past two hours completely cleaning it out. I have two huge bags of clothes to give to The Spring (a home for abused woman my mom and I support) and tons of trash…I can’t believe I kept some of the stuff that I had. Stacks upon stacks of old pictures from high school and college, old exams, papers, projects, notebooks…..it was crazy and I feel so much better.

I’m on a roll. Must continue cleaning and organizing my life before I lose steam. LONG run in the morning!!!!!

Hey, how is that book? I saw it at B&N last time I went and was interested, but I was in a rush, so I didn’t even crack it open. I forgot all about it until now, so thank you for reminding me!

Oh goat cheese, goat cheese, goat cheese . . .. ’nuff said! I think you featured the ‘Pure’ bar range in one of your recent posts? I saw one on special in the supermarket today and thought I would try it. Chocolate Brownie – pretty good! How good does less clutter feel? I love it – and could do with some action in that department myself 🙂

I like the pomegranite yogurt, too, but it is very similar to cherry or raspberry. You wouldn’t really be able to pin down pomegranite except for the seeds in it

Only brave women clean closets. Mine and Snuffy’s are both fairly organized. So organized that she knows right where to find my jewelry and shoes to match outfits. She often goes to the babysitter wearing my necklaces lol. Now, the closet in our guest bedroom is a whole different story…it’s overflowing with Mallard’s stuff. I don’t even open that door!

Jenna, I’ve been reading your blog for about 6 months now and I can’t help but feel proud of how far you’ve come in these past few months. You look so happy and healthy. Good luck with your upcoming September stuff and glad you had a safe trip home. ps. I drool over the yogurt–we don’t have any greek style yogurt in Toronto!!! 🙁

I read that article earlier this week and it really scared me straight (in a good way) as a consumer. It reaffirmed why I shell out a few extra bucks to purchase organic produce and free-range, grass fed, antibiotic free meat.

I googled “best pre-run snacks” and was linked to a post on your blog. I soon found myself reading a lot of your posts and articles. I love it! It’s motivating to read (as a runner and as some one who hates diets but loves the practice of celebrating healthy meals and cooking.)

Good luck on the long run! I’ll be doing a 5-miler tomorrow, if I feel like pooping out I’ll just remind myself that there are fellow runners out there huffing and puffing too in the name of fitness. Thanks for the inspiration!
