Good Morning!
I have to say, this is definitely a first when I am excited that it is Monday! π Now I only wish it were a little cooler outside…..! My abs and arms are SO sore this morning. Its hard to laugh and breath, I swear. I knew after that class yesterday this would happen but its such a yummy feeling that I don’t mind.
I slept in until about 7:40 this morning (pretty good for me!) and then had a delicious breakfast of about a half cup of fage with a half cup of muesli and a sliced banana:
And a piece of cinnamon raisin toast with raspberry preserves—
This morning I am just laying low and unpacking/organizing more stuff and then my mom and I are going to Bikram at noon together. I’ll probably give Mikan a nice 40 minute walk in between since its such a pretty day outside.
See you for a late lunch after yoga! Make a snowman for me π

December 22, 2008 at 8:20 amI want your weather – you can take all this crummy snow – I hate it π
This weekend it never stopped and we never stopped shoveling. Talk about sore muscles – lifting 60 pound shovelfuls of snow for hours & hours will do that to you. Enjoy your low-key Monday – you have earned girlfriend.

December 22, 2008 at 8:45 amHey Jenna! I tried to make a breakfast cookie for the first time today (well, made it last night to eat today). The milk was runny and it didn’t get “hard” in the fridge overnight. What’s up? What’s the texture supposed to be like? I guess I expected it to be more like one of Kath’s oatmeal pancakes or something… Next time you have a breakfast cookie, could you post specific directions on what you’re doing the night before? Thanks so much for everything you do! Happy Holidays and Happy Graduation!!

December 22, 2008 at 9:32 amAmandamoo,
Actually the cookie doesn’t really get “hard” in the true sense of the form and really does not have the texture of oatmeal pancakes. You still have to eat it with a spoon! I always use 1/2 cup oats to 2 tbsp milk and 1/2 banana and that makes it a bit “firmer” but certainly not hard. It is actually Gina’s creation though and she has specific directions on her blog—www.fitnessista.com π

December 22, 2008 at 9:01 amhi Jenna! I wish I could send you some snow. It is pretty much just ICE here, it’s soooo cold! I can’t be out for more than like one minute, it’s just a freezin’ my buns off. (see my blog for pics of our icey wonderland) Have a sweet day and fun at yoga! I am totally LOVING that you called your yoga feeling YUMMY. π You know I love that word. mmmm yummy yoga muscles. My friend braved the ice and came over today for class. We did loads of yoga ab work today, and surely will have that yummy feeling later. π
Hugs and enjoy your monday!! XOXO

December 22, 2008 at 9:36 amYou inspire me to want to get to the bottom of this once and for all.
I just don’t think I’m doing yoga right. I don’t feel any muscle fatigue the next day at all. Pilates will do it to me, but not quite yoga. There are so many health benefits from yoga, I just wish I felt like it was working my muscles a little more. Do you think I’m not doing it right, like not contracting my muscles right or something?

Well….what kind of yoga are you doing?! Hatha yoga is more relaxing, meditative and stretching whereas power yoga is more of a “flow” type of yoga where you are in motion constantly. Bikram yoga, what I am going to do today, is yoga practiced in a room that has been heated to 100 degrees farenheight. With yoga you are working your CORE, as opposed to directly working your triceps and biceps. Honestly, I think it just is for some people and not others (not that I’m saying that its not for you but you catch my drift). My friend Christie cannot do yoga if her life depended on it. She would get bored within 3 minutes and has never felt like she has gotten anything out of it. She prefers runnings and pilates. If I were you, I would google different yoga studios in your area to see what all classes are offered and maybe try a power (or vinyasa) class…see how you feel after that!
