Born on his due date, May 14th, at 9:17pm, weighing 9 lbs and measuring 21.5 inches. A big baby, indeed, much to everyone’s surprise!
Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. We are both healthy and happy — praise God!

Thrilled for you, hope you enjoy all the first moments and don’t worry, we all have to go through the training to get them to sleep soundly at night rather than day time. I had to wake my daughter, which felt so unnatural, but it paid off with her being a great night sleeper after a few days!

I wanted do avoid an epidural also, but with both of my deliveries, contractions were incredibly painful/frequent, despite that fact that I was dialating extremely slowly. It wasn’t until I agreed to an epidural that I was able to relax and began to dialate quite quickly. I had been so worried an epidural was going to ‘stall’ my labor, but it turns out the opposite was true!
Since I know you’d like more children, I’ll tell you that each recovery gets easier. I was in a fair amount of pain after our first, but with our second child I was back at the playground the first day I got home from the hospital! I joked with my girlfriends I felt like an elephant, no time to lie down, just got to keep moving.
