Two humorous things to clear up.
First of all, I totally did not eat all those fries but it would be hysterical if I did. We didn’t even make a dent in them actually! Hahaha I just nibbled on them a little bit and they were delicious!
Second of all, I really don’t drink massive amounts of wine all day. It might seem like I do but when you do tastings, you are only literally getting a very tiny swallow and when I’m at work, I usually spit.
Anyways, happy Wednesday! I spent my last night on the futon last night because I didn’t have it in me to drag the rest of my stuff to my new place. I was sooo exhausted after going back up and down those stairs a million times. I’ll take some pictures today for y’all! It’s very “little house on the prairie-ish” with no microwave, dishwasher or garbage disposal. But I love it!
Am currently eating oatmeal for breakfast:
I promise my breakfasts will get more interesting when I have more to work with! I’m so excited to have a kitchen of my very own….maybe once I’m set up I’ll do a video tour for y’all! 🙂
Today I’m loading up my car with my suitcases, dropping them off at my apartment and then going to work all day. I think between moving and working, today might be insane.
I would kill for some YOGA right now!!!!!!!

October 7, 2009 at 8:11 amSounds like you are going to be having a busy day. Excited to see the new place! Moving can be such a pain sometimes, you would think that after all my moving I would be good at it. Nope— it still causes me stress. 🙂

October 7, 2009 at 8:11 amThose fries looked good, either way 🙂
We don’t have a dishwasher or disposal either! It’s liveable 🙂

October 7, 2009 at 8:11 amCongrats on the new place, I’m sure life will feel much more organized once you’re all moved in.
I couldn’t even imagine eating all those fries with the help of another person lol!
Nicole
October 7, 2009 at 8:13 amHaha, I didn’t think you were getting wasted everyday at work! Don’t feel bad about not having a garbage disposal. They are actually illegal in Germany! I haven’t had one for about a year and a half. Once you get used to not having one, it is not a big deal. Plus, it is much better for the environment!

October 7, 2009 at 8:19 amExcited to see your new apartment! And your TJ”s loot, miss that store now that I moved to Iowa!

October 7, 2009 at 8:26 amLife would be rather ridiculous if I had to drink buckets of wine all day — I would have to spit it out too!

October 7, 2009 at 8:28 amI love your breakfast. They remind me of mine and they look delicious. Besides if you like them why not, right?
LOL at drinking all that wine. I don’t think anyone would function if they drank that much everyday. I kind of assumed you were doing the tasting way.
Dotsie
October 7, 2009 at 8:31 amGlad to know you didn’t eat all those fries or get drunk off wine like, alll time 😉
Enjoy your Wednesday!

October 7, 2009 at 8:35 amI’m so impressed that you landed, started work, have been to Bodega Bay, NYC, hot spots in wine country, rented a car, kep up the blog and running, found a place and are moving….in what? A Week?? Bwahahaha! Amazing!!

October 7, 2009 at 8:39 amJenna, you don’t have to defend yourself. Eating matchstick fries and drinking good wine are two of life’s pleasures. I enjoy both on a regular basis!
Lizzy
October 7, 2009 at 8:44 amtehe little swigs of wine are always the best! you get just a little bit of everything! 🙂 Enjoy your day, and maybe you’ll have time for that Yoga today!

October 7, 2009 at 8:44 amI think your breakfast looks really good. I love fixing oatmeal because it’s so versatile – you can make it thick, thin, hot, cold, sweet, savory, plain, banana-ey. It’s not boring!
Jess
October 7, 2009 at 8:45 amI didn’t know not having a garbage disposal or dishwasher is little house in the praireish. I guess you’d think I’m living in squalor – I don’t have a washer and dryer, either.
Daria @ Daria Can Cook
October 7, 2009 at 8:46 amHa! I’ve lived without a micorwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal for years. Never considered it little-house-on-the-prairie-ish, but I like that visual. 😉

October 7, 2009 at 8:47 amDid anybody actually think you ate all of that? lol

October 7, 2009 at 9:29 ami wish disclaimers like this weren’t necessary. eat fries. drink wine. eat half or eat it all. i wish it wasn’t necessary to clear these kinda things up. i haven’t read thru the comments from the last post, but i guess you were asked about it.
WendyF
October 7, 2009 at 9:31 amThose fries look like the type that once you start eating you can not stop. Good luck on the move, I have found that moving in to a new place is always fun and exciting, (execpt for the actual moving part) By the way, I am hooked on the amazing grass. 🙂 . I bought some on my way back from Hopland and after the century it made a noticable difference in my energy levels. On the bacon front tell the boys to seek out Bentons bacon, they won’t be sorry. I think its the best bacon around.

October 7, 2009 at 10:33 amI lived in a popular part of our city in a house (converted duplex) for 2 years that was built in 1910 that had no dishwasher or garbage disposal (or central A/C for that matter), so I can totally relate! However the place had exposed brick, loads of character and was amazing, plus I could walk to multiple one of a kind bars and restaurants so it was SO worth it 🙂

October 7, 2009 at 11:01 amHahahaha, I didn’t think you had eaten all those fries, nor that you were turning into a lush! Though I do think a glass of wine a day is my new favorite “health tool”. For real!

October 7, 2009 at 1:00 pmeek! the husband and I are getting ready to pack up and move across country to Colorado… your blog has been good preparation for the stress that im sure is to come for us 🙂 and even if you have oatmeal 12 times in a row- it’s still the perfect breakfast. hang in there! things will settle down soon enough.

October 7, 2009 at 2:06 pmJenna–I live in a little house built in 1943. No dishwasher, no garbage disposal. But I love it!! It’s charming and small but perfect for just me (and my kitties). Hopefully Dexter will come out there soon to keep you company! Can’t wait to see the pics of your new place.

October 7, 2009 at 2:40 pmBahaha, I just read the fries post. Glad I read this one before I commented on it 😛 I wonder if they actually counted out every single fry??
Your morning oatmeal as of late has totally been causing me to crave some comfy bowls of oats too. Hope you’re getting through your hectic day okay!

October 7, 2009 at 4:02 pmLove your breakfasts! You have me eating steel cut oats with Almond butter for breakfast every day! Now I want to try it with pumpkin! Are those 1,ooo fries actually on the menu to order? Too funny! Hope you get settled soon! I also just moved, but I only traveled 6 miles! And I don’t think we will be settled for a while! Can’t wait to see the things you come up with from yourTrader Joe’s purchases! And to see your new place!

October 7, 2009 at 5:17 pmLOL! I was wondering if you guys actually ate those fries!
And I’ve been wondering too if you’re worried about gaining weight or becoming less healthy because of all the wine drinking, but you’ve cleared that up for me – it’s more about getting a few drops on your tongue, not taking huge swigs of wine!

October 7, 2009 at 7:44 pmLove love love the blog! You sound so happy. And who cares if you WERE eating all those fries and drinking that wine. I agree that I hate that explanations are even needed – forget it! Enjoy food! I also love alot of the blogs that I’ve come across here – trying to start my own up – if anyone cares to add me to their roll, that’s be great! Cheers!

October 7, 2009 at 9:02 pmgreenbean and Maria—i TOTALLY agree with you! i wish there weren’t a ton of comments on here to the effect of “thank GOD you didn’t eat ALL THOSE fries! SO GLAD you’re not becoming a lush!” (rolls eyes). give me a break. even if she had eaten them all and drank like a fish, it would have been an abberration, not the norm. wish you hadn’t felt the need to clarify these things, Jenna, i really don’t think it was needed.

October 7, 2009 at 9:07 pmI’ve never had an apartment with a microwave or garbage disposal, less than half had a dishwasher (out of 7 college and post-college apartments). I think it depends on where you live.
You definitely get used to it. I use my microwave maybe once a month.
