Hi 🙂
Hope everyone’s Friday was good! Instead of cardio this morning, I stayed home and did 45 minutes of a Dave Farmar yoga podcast in my nice warm living room. The weather was just AWFUL today….cold rain and fog. At least I got to bust out my cute rainboots!
I really love these. I got them from Jcrew in college because Charleston floods like none other and there were some days I’d have to walk to class and water would literally be almost up to my knees. Ahhh Charleston, I miss you!
I had some juice and almonds on my way to work. Juice was a mix of apple, ginger, 2 stalks of celery, baby carrots and half a beet:
Lunch was miso soup, a turkey sandwich with homemade cranberry sauce, spinach and laughing cow cheese, and a honeycrisp apple:
(enter an unpictured GLO BAR for a snack! oops!)
I was supposed to go to a concert tonight with some friends but decided at the last minute to take it easy at home since I had a headache and have to be at work early tomorrow morning. Dinner was reheated chicken and sweet potato curry with an ezekiel muffin:
And then, I don’t know what possessed me to do this but I rented My Sister’s Keeper and proceeded to just bawl throughout the whole movie. Nice. I read the book and loved it but the movie was nothing like the book…..it still is definitely a tear jerker though. Oh well, sometimes a good sob fest is totally necessary.
I snacked on some yogurt with cranberry sauce, almond butter and dark chocolate—
And watched last night’s episode of Top Chef on my computer. I’m officially hooked. It’s so fun to see my “friends” on tv and I’m so proud of both Kevin and Eli. They rock.
I’m exhausted….check ya in the mornin’!

November 21, 2009 at 4:00 amCute rain boots!! I went to college in Charleston as well! I remember one summer, it flooded so badly, people were going down Vanderhorst street in rowboats and canoes– crazy!!!
I miss it too 🙁
I loved the book My Sister’s Keeper, but I haven’t seen the movie yet…I feel like Cameron Diaz was kind of a weird chocie for that part? I should see the movie…
Have a great day!

November 21, 2009 at 4:33 amI love your boots!
I read a few bits of that book before I stopped. I CANNOT read sad books, and have no desire to watch sad movies. Too sad!

November 21, 2009 at 5:14 amI haven’t seen the movie yet, but read the book and sobbed! I say Jodi Picoult speak about the making of the movie…she was quite upset that they changed so much of the book.
Matt
November 21, 2009 at 5:17 amI watched the latest Top Chef last night too. I was really sad to see Eli go 🙁

November 21, 2009 at 5:19 amSometimes you really need a sob fest. Hope you have a great Saturday and, even though the boots are adorable, you get some nice weather!

November 21, 2009 at 5:25 amEverything you ate yesterday looks so delicious & healthy!
I’ve never read that book nor have I seen that movie… I almost watch light-hearted movies but if you say it’s good, then I might have to watch it!
Megan (The Runner's Kitchen)
November 21, 2009 at 5:27 amI’m thinking about going to see The Time Traveler’s Wife with my sister this weekend…I just know I’m going to cry. Haha, it’s funny that we watch these movies for fun! I love a good story though 🙂
And I love, love, love all the homemade cranberry sauce – on a turkey sandwich, in a yogurt, etc. Have you ever tried it in oatmeal?
Krissy - Single Serving
November 21, 2009 at 5:42 amCute boots! Your homemade cranberry sauce sounded so simple and yummy I’m going to see if I can make it for Thanksgiving.

November 21, 2009 at 6:10 amYour juice always looks so tasty. Do you use a juicer or how do you get it so thin/pureed? I tried the green monster and am LOVING it!
Cara
November 21, 2009 at 6:18 amJenna,
Do you make your juice in your vitamix? Or do you have a juicer?
Katherine (blissful-body)
November 21, 2009 at 6:28 ami also am curious how you make your juice! i want a vitamix so bad, but the hubby has banned me from any new electrical kitchen products for a while. humph. love, love the boots. i also went to college there, but many years before you. i wish the jcrew had been there when i was in school – i totally would have gotten some cutie boots.
Chelsea
November 21, 2009 at 6:29 amI watched my Sister’s keeper the other day too! And I kept expecting the “book ending” which it was even more tragic when it didn’t happen!!
Love your site..and thanks for getting me hooked on Wheat grass! 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 6:40 amI love rainboots — got a bright pink pair from Target a few years ago and love busting them out on dark, rainy days. 😀

November 21, 2009 at 6:55 am🙁 Poor Eli. He has a lot to be proud of though. I think the right 4 made it to the finals. Kevin is fantastic! I can see why you two became fast friends 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 7:16 amI read and LOVED the book and was really disappointed they changed the ending. It changed the essence and message of the entire book. I saw Jodi Picoult speak before the movie came out and she warned everyone they changed the ending. She didn’t seen thrilled about it.
That said, I sobbed at the end of the movie. I saw it with a pregnant friend who pretty much cried from the time the opening scene started through the end. I think she used up a whole roll of movie theater toilet paper 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 7:25 amMore Dexter photos?….pretty please 😉

November 21, 2009 at 7:46 amThose rainboots are absolutely adorable! Seeing as how much rain Illinois has been getting lately, I should probably invest in some as well!

November 21, 2009 at 7:55 amI love J. Crew wellies!!!! Super cute. And I’ve been wanting to see that movie for awhile now, I’m just scared I’ll cry too much!

November 21, 2009 at 8:03 amOh man…good choice on watching My Sister’s Keeper at home. My sister and I went to see it in the summer in theaters and it was a little awkward to be sobbing so hard you are heaving in public.
Mary (Food Fit & Fun)
November 21, 2009 at 8:06 amcute boots! I loved that book…the movie was good too…but no where near as good as the book!
Julie @ Wearing Mascara
November 21, 2009 at 8:27 amI love your rainboots! I have some similar yellow ones and I get excited when it rains just so I can wear them 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 8:33 amI was actually MAD when I left the theater after seeing My Sister’s Keeper – nothing like the book haha! love your boots 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 8:51 amI rented My Sister’s Keeper last night too!! I cried the whole movie too, but the movie reminded me how short and precious life really is 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 9:06 amI second more Dexter pix! Love the boots and juice! I’ve avoided all sad stories/books since my brother/Dad died…have enough to keep the sob-fests at bay without sparking. Can’t wait to see the latest Nancy Meyers film ‘It’s Complicated’ set in my former hometown of Santa Barbara. We lived right on the beach. December sunset beachwalks there are unforgettable…like walking in a dream. Good Saturday, Jenna!

November 21, 2009 at 9:38 amsometimes I secretly pray for rain just so I can wear my rainboats – I kid you not 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 4:33 pmOMG, your chicken sweet potato reminds me of a delicious pumpkin chicken curry recipe. My family likes to cook pumpkin with cubed chicken in a coconut curry sauce. It is extremely good! The sweetness of coconut milk and pumpkin is great with the spice.
Oh and I love your dessert as well!

November 21, 2009 at 5:04 pmI love your wellies! So cute. We had that weather yesterday too. It wasn’t nice but wellies like those would have made it better 🙂

November 21, 2009 at 9:05 pmCute boots! So smart to watch My Sister’s Keeper at home – I saw it at the theater – waterworks, lovely red rimmed eyes when I came out, not pretty.

November 22, 2009 at 8:15 amI too rented my sister’s keeper this weekend. My facebook status was “my sister’s keeper and wine don’t mix!” That was way too sad to do on a Friday night! Combine that with a glass of wine & I’m a mess!

November 23, 2009 at 2:00 pmi’ve been following your blog for a few weeks. i felt compelled to comment because I also decided to stay in on Friday and watch My Sisters Keeper and cried so much that I had puffy eyes Saturday morning. Very different from the book but equally as sad!
